  1. Love it! Nicely proportioned, and look at all dem lines!!
  2. Odd thing about the postage. But that is a lovely looking instrument.
  3. Sorry to hear about your dad. Really good that you had a focus/outlet in the bass building - always need to look after yourself, too.
  4. That mint one lying down is a beauty! Did you do a build diary thread for that one, too?
  5. I love it! What are you doing with the neck? Headstock face to be the same colour blue?
  6. What’s the height in that room? Looks like you could put a foot of loft insulation across the entire ceiling and have the ultimate bass trap!
  7. 4.7cm is quite thick? Taking it down to 4cm (seems to be what all mine are) you’d get the weight down to around 2kg. What is the target body weight?
  8. Looks lovely - great colour and you can’t go wrong with roasted maple. Such an awkward looking headstock though. Smaller tuners would be more visually balanced, methinks.
  9. No, no - he binned the bass and is taking up didgeridoo. He bought a card one because it’s cheaper and he doesn’t spit much.
  10. You said you’d never sell it, so resale concerns go away. You said you’d pay a pro to do the routing. You’re after a certain sound and you know how to get there. I say do it!
  11. Perspex body?

New knob day! Since accidentally breaking the preamp on my Hohner Jack, and subsequently fitting a passive loom (courtesy of @KiOgon), my Jack has been knobless. I finally got around to getting some new ones for a very reasonable price off eBay. I say reasonable, as the reason they were so cheap is now very apparent!!! I was going to request a refund or something, but I’m finding it funny, so perhaps I’ll keep them on.
  13. ...and what’s the weight, please?
  14. It’s a boot dignity. It’s a boot respect.
  15. Updated pic with my latest bitsa (the Jaguar-ish).
  16. This thread, and all the contributors, are awesome 👍🏻
  17. Stew, you crack me up! ”I'm happier scraping a bottom than trying to stuff something in it.” 🤣🤣🤣
  18. Shiny shiny frets! That’s a neat looking job there. I would have been happy with the walnut, but that rosewood also looks good.
  19. It had been on the cards previously, but laziness wanted to explore all in one finish first. Colour matching might be problematic. Hmm, we’ll see.
  20. Oh, also put it all together, just to see what it looks like. Still got loads of bits to do (maybe do more finish on the headstock).
  21. In this style, like my bitsa;
  22. So, the name. I was going to call it a Jaguar. But it’s not. Is it a Jazz? Got the right neck. Is it a Talman? It’s got the wrong neck! Had also thought about not trying to hide the cockups or previous holes etc. No solid ideas though. Flash forward to a couple of days ago, my wife walks in to the kitchen with a broken dish (kids don’t respect anything!!). Says we should fix it with gold glue, like the Japanese tradition. “Eh?” said I. A quick google gives me the full story, and also the name that will adorn the headstock; Kintsugi!!!
  23. Actually snorted when I read that! 🤣🤣🤣
  24. I love a “pimp my amp” - there should be more! Maybe a nice new cabinet would give you the opportunity to place a port in a more preferable location?
