Pea Turgh

So last night’s coat looked crap, so I sanded it down, but not fully. I’m hoping the more coats that go on will even out the patchyness. 2nd coat rubbed on with a cloth - man I should have done it this way to start with!

My cloth ears can’t t detect anything other than EQ variations on that first video. Nice bass though!

And there’s a good reason not to drink and Dremel! No idea sorry! Other than someone’s done a right number on it!

Back on it after a little break to do absolutely nothing. This lockdown is making me sleepy. So I have sanded down to 600 grit now, and I’m very happy with the silky-feeling results! Which is good, because that’s all I have in the shed. A lot of sanding has revealed some incredibly subtle figuring - you can’t really see it properly on the images, but I’m happy to have found it. Im going for a refinished/roadworn look as opposed to perfection, which is also lucky as I’m not skilled/patient/equipped enough for perfection! I brushed the ever-so-slightly watered down Ronseal on tonight, but I ain’t keen on the visible brush strokes, so I wiped it off gently (with one of Mrs Turgh’s special cloths smuggled out to the shed). Think I’ll do a cloth application for the next coat (so long as I don’t need to sand the first one off again).

Bloody lovely, that! Everything is just right. Very visually balanced.

Vinteras are lovely too, but I’m a bargain basement sort of a guy!

Thomann appear to have this colour in stock (the cream version has a wait time). They do look ace. I too prefer the P spacing at the nut, but I think that’s only available on the JMJ signature model. Regardless, I think one of these will eventually make its way in to my rack!

Just draw doodles over it in black marker, and clear Matt coat it. Maybe. Or probably not.

I saw a program on the tellybox once where a cricket bat maker finished off the bats by rubbing them with a big old cow bone.

I prefer the white. Looks a little classier/timeless.

I think there’s a second pot out of view. I’ll know within a couple of weeks as he’s caved to my pestering 😁

Lovely colour/finish!

Chrome knobs would sit nicely there. I’m trying to by a Danelectro 6 string from my mate (who swapped the standard knobs for chrome ones) and I think it looks well swish.
