  1. Alan Partridge's next show? SMELL MY WOOD!
  2. Voted. Another diverse collection!
  3. That's ridiculous for pub style gigs. You guys must have deafened your audience.
  4. Phew! Is voting up yet? Haven't seen it yet. Kinda thin on the ground this month
  5. The guitar tone is brilliant, and not a whammy bar in sight, nails the solo! Do you know what efx he uses? Drummer needs to run his Moongel under the tap
  6. I didn't embed properly so I inserted links instead. It all went wonky when I tried to upload an improved mix, I don't pay the pro subscription, so I started over. Maybe it takes the Soundcloud a minute to catch up? *edit Soundcloud had added -1 to the end of the link as the tune name was the same. Oddly, both links worked, but only the -1 version would embed.
  7. I don't think it is a clavinet. The decay of the note sounds wrong. Some notes sound more like a fretless with really bright strings and a weird bandpass filter.
  8. Lovely stuff Kevin, would be happy to hear more of that kind of thing!
  9. yup, good job!
  10. I'm in, started at 9pm, that's it, all done!
  11. It reminds me of Kryten: http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/kryten/images/19990779/title/kryten-photo&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwiHx-no8sPgAhUOTBUIHQxbA1IQwW4IJjAI&usg=AOvVaw04GDpw_1sVAp3sfk7Uwlnd
  12. I've used these very things, work a treat for shiny frets.
  13. Or drop a gauge of strings?
  14. You could buy a heavier gauge b string.
  15. How about something useful like a low battery indicator?
  16. As biro ink is oil based, a higher fraction like petrol or lighter fuel should dissolve it.
  17. Who wouldn't want a bass called Brian?
  18. So those pickups would be considered ceramic as opposed to alnico, or indeed neodymium.
  19. I've just set up a 4003 for a work colleague. Managed to get the action low enough, but it did seem to run out of travel on the G side. Fortunately, I has the right sized tool for the truss rods, or that could have been awkward. And with the action set low, the intonation screws are inaccessible! What kind of nitwit came up with that as a design choice? Oh, and the bridge tail end has started to lift off the body. The fretwork was good, and felt good to play though, so not entirely bad, by any means!
  20. That's probably just currency conversion from their currency local to where they were made, sorry, breathed into life, the currency being the Papua New Guinean Trundle. Probably. Or the Kow-Pat.
  21. You mean a tapered reamer for opening holes out. ^
  22. I don't think there's too much wrong with the Select pickups. I've had both the jazz style and the guitar humbucker sized ones in the jack basses, and they sounded fine. I have the 35hz pickups in my current fretted bass, and I don't think they have as much output as the humbuckers but tonally are similar, ie. pretty neutral, clean sounding.
