  1. I play 5ers pretty much exclusively as, for me and the music I play, it is an absolute necessity. I listen to a lot of Neo-Soul/R&B etc which frequently utilises notes below an E, plus I play covers with friends that often need transposing down from the original key to be comfortable for whoever’s singing. While the guitarist does mental maths for however long it takes to transpose the chord structure, I can simply shift the whole line down by however many frets and quickly get back to the enjoyable part of actually playing music. With this in mind, a 5 string isn’t just a “want” for me. It’s a necessary tool.
  2. A 6 stringer weighing 7lbs 11oz!! https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_TT6_Superlight.html Filth.
  3. If anything, the 3+2 tuner arrangement makes life even easier in this regard as your D string (which on a 4+1 tuner arrangement would be the furthest stretch) is closer to the nut. All my 35” 5ers have been 4+1 and I’ve been fine. I’ve owned multiple 35” scale basses and always found ordinary long scale strings to work perfectly. And I’ve gone through rounds and flats made by Dunlop, D’addario, Ernie Ball. Maruszczyk, La Bella, Thomastik...the list goes on. As Storky says, the only reason you’d need to consider extra long strings is if stringing through the body, but through the bridge you should be fine.

  5. Having recently bought one of these (new!) I can confirm they are really very good. Impeccable craftsmanship, great feel and great tone. Really lovely preamp that is seemingly impossible to get a bad tone out of. GLWTS sir!
  6. Wow. I had to do a double take as I thought this was one of the newer Vintera Mustangs. Not sure I’ve ever seen a CIJ Mustang in this colour. Very nice!
  7. Also, if delivery had actually been attempted to the intended address (I.e. yours) it would be logged on that tracking page as a failed delivery attempt, not simply returned to sender and marked by Royal Mail as “delivered” as though everything were fine and dandy. Once again, stories not adding up...
  8. Does he not think you know your own address?? This actually makes me livid. Perhaps send him this screenshot indicating the approximate distance between your address and the allegedly “delivered” package: I think it’s name and shame time on all the Facebook gear groups you’re a member of. Tag him in the post and cry foul play from the rooftops.
  9. @prowla, he’s a chancer. He’s said he’d refund you tonight, but apparently delivery has been attempted...but logically only one of these could be the case, surely? If he actually had posted it then he wouldn’t be offering a refund as he’d no longer have the goods in his possession. It simply doesn’t add up. He’s just frantically adding lies on top of lies to try and get you off his back.
  10. @prowla I remember reading a very similar story on Facebook Marketplace a few weeks back - not sure if it was you who posted it but all the details are the same (saying he sent the item, no evidence, claiming his daughter sent it etc) If it wasn’t you then it would seem that this guy is a definite chancer as he’s clearly feeding the exact same story to multiple buyers!
  11. I’m inclined to agree with you to be honest. I suppose they’re just covering the basics for now. The good thing is once bassists start getting these units into their hands, more and more bass amp models will start trickling into the cloud
  12. Fingers crossed for a Quad Cortex demo then!
  13. @fretmeister Has Nathan Navarro got any previous connection to Neural or Darkglass?
  14. Of course the Neural team will have looked at the current crop of top modellers and FX units to see what worked and what didn’t. It was inevitable that we’d see some Helix influence given that Helix is considered by many to have the best UI out there. The Neural UI has some “Helixish” elements for sure but there are a lot of differences too, due to the fact that Neural had to design a system which was 100% touch friendly. The Helix development team deliberately avoided going the touchscreen route, and so made their UI as user-friendly as possible with good old fashioned knobs and buttons as the primary input method.
  15. Massively prefer the new logo over the old one. Glad BF decided not to make it exclusive to their guitar cabs!
  16. They’ve also come out with a very delicious Royal Purple LTD edition too!
  17. Oh dear. My wallet continues to tremble... Quite enjoyed seeing Lee begrudgingly singing its praises @Dood - would love to see you do a proper bass demo of this!
  18. This does look great. I’ve never personally been a big fan of hanging guitars by the neck/headstock, especially mounted to a wall where the thing basically becomes a big pendulum! This system seems to solve that issue nicely.
  19. I really wouldn’t be surprised if the Vintera sounded just as good as the US Performer!
  20. Actually baffled this is still here. If it weren’t for the pandemic I’m sure it’d be long gone by now. If only I still used backline I’d have swept this up! In London too...
  21. So clearly you haven’t actually stuck a big ol’ transformer onto your pedal board... What is it? I’m most intrigued!
  22. Blame Ibanez. They are very nice basses despite Ibanez’s slightly awkward code names. I suppose when there are so many finish/colour/string count options within each model line, code names become harder to avoid! GLWTS by the way
  23. The Butler has separate clean and dirty DI outs for a start, as well as an expression pedal input...so it’s not exactly apples to apples
