  1. The size difference seems really noticeable. Does that make a lot lighter, I remember the early Musicians as being horrendous boat anchors.
  2. Is it a genuinely old one or a relic?
  3. If it’s the more modern sound you’re after, then it’s presumably an active. You can’t go far wrong with a Spector, the Korean made Legend is great value or you might even pick up. 2nd hand European made Euro or Rebop. Both brilliant.
  4. There’s lots of self adhesive vinyl sheet/rolls on eBay but I don’t think any of it comes in tort. I am thinking of experimenting with gold.
  5. I’ve never seen the point of modding. Years ago I changed the bridge on a Precision for a Badass and more recently had to change tuners because one broke and I fitted Hipshots which I suppose was an upgrade. I have thought of changing the Y tuners on my Peerless for Cloverleaf tuners just because that would make it look closer to the Les Paul Signature bass it’s based on. Haven’t done it yet, not sure it’s worth for purely cosmetic reasons.
  6. How long before Gibson/Epiphone try and stop Atelierz from making those. They certainly look better for the clover leaf machine heads. The smaller bridge pickup is definitely more authentic looking. 👍🏼
  7. One of the reasons may be the American purchase tax system. It’s charged according to the State but is you live in another you don’t pay. All prices are quoted without tax which gets added on afterwards. My daughter lives in California, if they buy from a store in New York, no tax, buy locally pay tax. What is that about, it’s nuts!
  8. Reminds me of the ‘76 I had that looked the same. Why did I trade it ?
  9. @Simon C would a new strap break the rules? One can always use them and you’re bound to have one where the strap button hole has got worn and loose.
  10. I can see what Ash’s problem is, he’s become colour blind. No sunburst, Olympic white, butterscotch, L.P. Blue or Fiesta Red, his world is just blackness.
  11. There’s also an inevitability that offspring will choose something a parent does play. There seems to be a number of bass players who are sons ( & probably daughters but I can’t think of any off the top of my head) of guitar players, pianists and saxophonists. These would include Travis Carlton, Kyle Eastwood and Alec Dankworth to name but a few.
  12. The sun ain’t gonna shine anymore - Righteous Brothers
  13. It has more than a slight nod towards Gretsch. The colour reminds of their Smoke Green finish although they had a darker green on the sides.
  14. Following on from Freddie, the Four Seasons used them too.
