  1. Discovering your inner Ventures?
  2. I had a black one about the same date. Cost me £99!
  3. If they’re going from E down to Eb you could fit a hipster d-tuner set to drop the half. The rest of the notes above are the same.
  4. I saw a band outside Starbucks in Seattle called Slimpickin’s and their bassist had an aluminium bodied upright bass. Sounded good.
  5. Not a short scale player personally, but I am pleased to see a reissue of this icon. Not sure I’ve ever seen an original outside of books and photos and whilst the Rivoli was every where in the 60’s I don’t think many of these crossed the pond.
  6. And that from the man who made a video saying why 5 strings suck!
  7. Some endorses aren’t players. As far as I know Les Paul never played bass, but he designed a cracker, his innovation was the low impedance pickup. It wasn’t overly popular in 1972, but nowadays its offspring is well regarded. I give you the Gibson Les Paul Signature Bass .
  8. They are remarkably versatile for a single pickup bass, this is definitely worth buying.
  9. Well I don’t suppose that’s a cheaply to plonk around on whilst you’re across the pond. I’ll bet you will want to bring it back home - import duty payable?
  10. Donnyboy’s was certainly awful. If buyers keep turning these there will a sudden burst of heavily discounted B grade basses coming on the market.
  11. Nice legs shame about her face - The Monks. (Not very PC this one, my apologies)
  12. I have it in my right so doesn’t seem to affect me too much. However a while ago it was very painful and I couldn’t grip properly. My GP arranged a steroid injection which ws initially even more painful and then like magic no more pain. It was good for several years. I haven’t asked for another, it’s manageable and I have heard Doctors aren’t giving them any more but I think it’s worth asking.
  13. It’s amazing he has lived this long. A great musician but he did rather dabble too much in the drug culture of the 60’s & 70’s. Byrds and CS&N were 2 pioneering bands.
  14. I suggest you look at a few more of her YouTube videos. She is a really excellent bass player and it is her band so she can play what she likes, and does.
  15. Resurrection Shuffle - Aston Gardener and Dyke. (Why do they sound like a firm of solicitors?)
  16. Or……. Sell them both and buy something new which will become your next “can’t put down”. 🤔🤣
  17. If it’s a new instrument then the va due for insurance purposes is the purchase price. If something happens to it at present you will want a new one as replacement. A few years down the line y ou may need to think about second hand values but now.
