  1. Royal mail is incompetent, mail is either not delivered on time, or we get next door neighbour's mail, which I diligently slip through their letter box. I wonder how much of our mail was delivered through someone else's letter box, and was then diligently binned. And the amount of leaflets they put through....I must say our new postie is very polite
  2. Here is my contribution. Drums are Ez Drums, the rest is played and recorded by me. Guitars played with Squier tele into A/B switch. A signal into into Ibanez TS9, Marshall, microphone cheap Behringer. B signal into Focusrite via Amplitube. Two guitars take, hard right , hard left. Live guitar and Amplitube blended to thicken up the sound. Cry baby pedal used during solo. Also , added Acoustic guitar for colour, guitar 1 standard tuning, guitar 2 Nashville tuning. Bass , Squier p bass into Fender Rumble recorded with AKG mic. Attempted singing recorded with SM58, heavily mixed, I used voice correction (it didn`t help haha) mixed and mastered in Ableton
  3. Don't know if it counts but, two pairs of ear plugs. Vic Firth and Concert ear protect. Very useful when drumming or live gigs. And of course a lovely Jackson JS24 dinky guitar from BC.
  4. Like 99% of Rage Against the Machines lyrics. In 2009 BBC asked RATM not swear whilst performing Killing in The Name live but Zack de la Rocha had a different approach.....🤣
  5. I had all my important documents posted through the letter box days after actual appointment dates. This did not help, but luckily the sender's/ originator's common sense prevailed due to postal strikes and phoned me regarding appointmens. If they hadn't it would have had a massive impact on my life. Parcelforce...I have called them several times constructively ranting about their lies of claiming they attempted to deliver when they did not.
  6. I had the same issue with my Sony VAIO laptop, I replaced HD with SSD, I bought a new power cable, noise isolator (after watching YouTube and reading Amazon reviews, utterly useless, went back for refund), shielded guitars, new guitar cable and nothing. two years ago I bought a new gaming PC just for music playing, recording , and all problems disappeared. Problem solved. All I hear is my tinnitus now.
  7. Hi @tridimnaw and welcome. You are in a good place . This is a friendly forum 99% of time. I too dusted off my bass after around 15 years , but don't worry it will soon come back to you.
  8. I can see the point of resting the heel if palm on bridge pick up cover whist playing with the pick, but see having a thumb rest on modern basses useless. I play with fingers 90% of time, and although I owned a bass with a thumb rest above E string I never used it as I pluck closer to bridge than neck.
  9. l was thinking old funk, RnB style? So why does a Matt Freeman signature Squier bass have thumb rest under G string. He is predominantly a plectrum player.
  10. I leave my right hand thumb shadowing my plucking fingers. My left hand thumb usually rests at the back of bass/guitar neck ,but sometimes aid to mute low E string... What I don't understand is why the thumb rest is at the bottom of the bass, under the G string. I suppose if one played Hendrix style, turning a righty guitar into a lefty, but why?
  11. I bought a Jackson guitar from Lawrie, he added new string and a guitar magazine. All posted in timely manner, arrived safely. I'd buy with confidence again.
  12. I can't see becoming a collector by accident. I thinks it's more of an obsession. Obsession is controlled by mind which leads to psychology. In a positive manner as some instruments retain value, especially with a rising cost of material and manufacturing. You buy a new car and the moment you drive it away from the retailer you're losing money. ( I'm sure you know this, and don't mean to teach you how to suck eggs). But by a new Fodera ( I don't know anything about them but saw this make frequently popping up on BC) and you can still sell it. The same goes for an aged Fender? I presume that even with inflation rate your profit margin sky rocket. Is the psychology of collecting instruments an obsession? Yes, there that euphoric feeling when completing an online order or collecting in person. That unexplained excitement tracking the items movement by courier, unwrapping and even thinking what is the tune I will play first... Are you a particular artist fan, absolutely, I've got to get the new signature model. E.g. things may sometimes get difficult here, I grew up and still fan of Iron Maiden, but don't have Mr McBrains SIT drum kit. It would take up the whole room. Peer pressure, are you influenced by BC members, is there a competition of getting the better and more than others. This behaviour can be often observed in neighborhood. Sacha Baron Cohen demonstrates this in Borat movie, " this is my new neighbour......." Investment, or something you wanted as a youngster but now you are financially able to fulfil your dreams. I think , psychology behind collecting instruments is infinite , but what are the limits?
  13. If you think the title is offensive, it can be easily changed to Confession of/to collecting instruments. There was no harm intended in the title, purely the reason of collection. Why buy an instrument if it sits collecting dust, or it's hard case collecting dust...
  14. I recorded all the instruments, I just need to attempt to sing then hopefully done on time.
  15. I noticed the word hoarding came up, well I can comfortably walk in my room between drums amos and guitars. As long as I don't have to walk sideways (unless of course you're wider from back to belly than side to side) but it's not hoarding.
  16. Actually @TimRand @Maude are making a point. Living proof, they say no picture never happened. and it's a four stroke!
  17. Good investment. I recently bought a guitar in a mint condition, a 100 w marshal amp, another 30w amp, wah pedal, Leather guitar strap, tuner, guitar cable from someone that gave up playing. I only bought the bundle for the amp. If I sold the rest I would make profit and still have the amp. I agree that music instruments Vs new car, former is a winner, unless of course you have a collection of Ferraris
