1.
Hello all. My band are looking for a space to basically use as a band home. We currently practice in a studio but we're finding that actual song writing is eating into our practice time. We seem to be struggling to find places that will accommodate say a sofa a fridge and a band practicing (usually not very loud and outside of business hours as well). I'm sure people on here have places they own or rent so wondered what the norm is. My question to you is, what do your band do for practice? Cheers all. Ade
Sofa, fridge, songwriting - isn't this just where you live?
2.
I do think that if you are writing about the basses that you sell, as the Maruszczyk dealer for Turkey, that you should be upfront concerning the financial vested interest you have in pushing these basses. And, if you are advertising on this site, I believe that you should pay to do so. Rather than posting as if you are a normal user. And nothing raises suspicions more in UK than someone passionate about their job.
3. Hey Allons-y. Welcome to BC! Difficult to call without knowing your ultimate aim, both have merits. Why not keep both? Sounds like head vs heart, and money often wins.
4. Very sad news, and a poignant letter. Great legacy behind him though.
5. Cracking bass, and great vid too
6. Maybe something is getting lost in translation. Give it another go - lots of photos, lots of spec - Karlfer's example is a good start
7. Staggering numbers - 28% of $7billion market tied up in Guitar Centre. If it does fall, it would take out a few manufacturers along the way. Might force Fender to trim down their range..
8. It's a shame but you're absolutely right. The pro's I know are far from rolling in it, despite very good gigs with household names. It's possibly one reason that many pro's are not gear obsessives, in those formative years there isn't the spare cash to throw around on endless kit changes.
9. Everyone has different tastes on the sound - and you'll get a wide variety of answers here. Depends how much I'm playing, but for the sound and stings I personally like, it's every 8wks or so.
10. Strangely compelling to re-read, knowing how it all pans out. I'm relatively new here but not seen that level of vitriol aimed at anyone on here before or since, pro or otherwise. Seems VJ arrived at the site in the wrong time and place.
11. Maiden supporting parlimentary bill on ticket touts Template to petition your local MP http://us9.campaign-...70&e=3593406681
12. General gossip about working with big names is always interesting but they're not going to put that on a forum. I'd be interested to know how they go about learning and prepping for tours, how big name auditions work. There's probably many live BCers who could answer these I guess..
13. 'Songs' - a pre-internet band name. Good luck [edit: Cue other BCers finding stuff instantly ]
14. Gigs or not, they sound like a nightmare. Good exit
15.
discreet, would you be talking about the dick who gave Peter Gabriel's 3rd album a bad review cos he was having a bad day?
I love Kraftwerk but the documentary was the same old sycophantic story. Wasted opportunities with FK and Derrick May, giving more airtime to that awful man.
16. They look great, fun that they sync with eachother.
Weird little thing. I own a Korg Monotron Duo and Monotron Delay but they're a heck of a lot simpler!
Big fan of these tactile Korg units. IMO anything that takes you away from the laptop is a good thing.
17. Anyone tried this? Also - tying a knot in a broken string? These are hard times.
18. Ticket booked for Saturday. Is there any kind of BC meet up / special handshake ?
19. It was the step change at our local open mike from '3 songs' to '15 min' slots. It's since just been banned.
20. Good man! He's still got it
21.
Probably not going to be there much longer: http://www.theguardi...t-tin-pan-alley
Will be a shame when this does all come to pass. Even if Wunjos escape the next wave of development, you'd think as the area improves and rents increase it will become even more unsustainable for the independants. Gradually the smaller guys get squeezed out - bookshops / records / and so on.
22. +1 for the Ibanez. Great neck, lovely to play. Not tried the Spectorcore..
23. Would be great to turn up at an audition with those..
24. I only buy Sunbursts and just rotate what is visible.
25. Great stuff - what tunes did you do?
