Most 'reliced' basses look way more battered than a lot of actual vintage instruments, esp at the top end. Bottom line is, if you're happy with the bass, then its the right one for you. There's no 'wrong' choices if the player loves the instrument. Even BC Rich are still in business.

I gave mine away to someone starting out. Somehow I've squared this as being more worthwhile than getting £50 for it.

It's very portable, handy-sized and lightweight For the money, I'd say it was fairly good I was looking at the Markbass 208 combo, and this is more than twice the output, at a fraction of the price Try one out in a shop, or see if you can find a friendly BC'er near you, who'll let you try theirs first Other options are the new range of Fender Rumble amps They are even lighter again. I tried the Rumble 100 recently, and was surprised at how loud it was, the quality of sound, and useful features, but I was stunned at how amazingly light it was Mind you, they are more pricey! Whenever I listed to Judas Priest backwards, I always hear voices telling me to kill everyone.

The Limelight debate could run and run. By all accounts they play very well, and if people are happy with them at that price (and many bassists are), then I guess that's ok. I'm not sure the base instrument is a £150 dog though. The bigger issue / con - is the insane pricing of genuine vintage instruments. Just because it physically survived the last 40 years, doesn't mean it's worth £1,500. I'd wager the average Limelight bass is a better instrument than the majority of the £1-2k J's / P's being offered out there.

We're upgrading our band's music stands to foldback style tele-prompters.

No it's a great idea. Those lovely ampex reels spinning around in the corner.. I have no idea about buying these but will follow your quest.

No-one can answer this question but you. They're both great, both different. AND different models etc will all play and feel different. Get out to a real shop and play a few.

It’s finally here. Kissed a lot of frogs to find this one. As foretold: [indent=1]1) Much of the stuff out there is appalling[/indent] [indent=1]2) You never quite end up with what you set out for [/indent] [indent=1]3) All roads lead to Andy Baxter[/indent] Never owned a maple fingerboard before and never thought I would. But this is a bass to play, not hang on a wall, and this plays like a dream. Super thin quick neck (thinner than my American Std), fantastic variety of sound, real depth and resonance. Big thank you to the fellow BC’ers who helped guide me home on this one. Collected at lunch today and so keen to get involved, had a half hour headphone amp jam in the disabled toilet. 1972 Jazz, Maple / Sunburst, pearl blocks & bound, 4 bolt neck. 8.8lbs. Apart from the nut, all completely original. For the next few months at least - 'all the bass I'll ever need' And here we are on our first date
