1.
I've recently started playing with two bands after moving out into the sticks. One is a classic rock band and we are still getting the set together, the other is a Country band in the truest sense, definitely no Country Rock. They tend to open with 'I recall a Gypsy Woman.' Makes me want to open a vein everytime.
I quite fancy trying a country band actually, as long as the outfits weren't stupid
 2.
A couple of questions. I need to get an acoustic for acoustic open mic nightS. I have tried Ibanez and Martin(could not afford that though) both had necks like. boat oars. It seems that Fender and Washburn make bases with necks like electric bass guitars so has anyone experience of either the Washburn AB5 or Fender CB-100CE. Also can anyone recommend good acoustic strings.
Cheapie fender phosphor bronze work well, amazing sell them cheaply I have one and I take it to OM nights. The only thing it's good for is playing something to show someone (i.e. With someone JUST listening), forget playing along and being heard, even over an acoustic guitar You can't demonstrate with an electric bass unamplified in a corridor . Guy I work with, we pick something random on a whim and throw it together in the corridor, maybe playing it twice before we go on, acoustics are good for that, but I always pick up a precision before we go on
 3.
Feedback on eBay is a joke. Did I imagine you are not able to leave negative feedback easily anymore, have to jump through hoops e.t.c.?
If you're a buyer it's as easy as it ever was
 4.
It used to annoy me not getting feedback but not anymore I just put it down to people not bothering such is life but I always leave feeback for others
Yes it's annoying but hey, life is too short
 5. Never had an issue with UPS unlike Parcel farce or Hermes
 6. Mine actually suggested it - it worked out fine
 7. I'd suggest it was a replacement body if you like it, you like it, but I think it's overpriced for what I think it is. You can buy genuine 70s basses on here for that, there's a 70s jazz in white listed for c 1200
 8. I see no serial in that neck pocket photo - can you see one?
 9. Body stamp in neck pocket ? It's a bit dark but maybe a custom colour ? 70swere all about brown and orange Pots do have codes, the tech guy is wrong
 10. OM folk love my fake beat-up fender, people come over and talk about it
 11. Wash as normal with a low spin. I received one that was mouldy and stank of fags and it came up pristine. Unzip it fully and turn it inside out. Unless it has any leather on it, obviously
 12.
I know what it's like to lack support for just about everything. I was lucky that I developed an interest that fitted an idea my dad had. He liked the idea of a musical family, which is why he bought instruments, he also liked the idea of a family that had books. He filled the house with books, but never read them, and I got the piss taken out of me for reading a lot... I was the first person in our family ever to go to college. Which he didn't like because I should have been going to work (though I had left school early and worked until the day I was officially supposed to leave school). He was far prouder of my brother who became quite an accomplished . People think I am cold or odd because I don't put much stock in family for family sake.
No, I totally, totally get this
 13. My mum can pick out a tune on any instrument so I guess that's talent of a kind. My father had no discernible talent of any kind. I had to buy everything myself and teach myself everything, just determined I suppose. The first time a crowd went wild made it all worthwhile
 14.
Nothing more than £400 bass wise, I've got 2 COG pedals I didn't strictly need but I get a nice gooey feeling inside supporting a local gear maker and of course the pedals themselves are excellent.
Yep I'm with you. £450 to the bass doc for an awesome 3tsb precision with subtle aging on the neck
 15.
Possible in theory but I cant imagine any circumstances under which this would be a good idea in practical/cost terms.
Quite Why not just buy a shortie?
 16. Cover it in a fold of decent cardboard and some brown paper and you can ship for 2.85 as a small parcel. Padded envelopes aren't up to it
 17.
Here is the bass in question, it has a jazz neck which I believe just a few of them had around this period, it is quite chunky but feels great, especially for me as I prefer the jazz width, but love the P tone.
I'd keep it like that, I'm getting excited just looking at it
 18.
I forgot to mention, the bit of paper that comes with it - either no-one else has noticed that it says "USER MANAUL" or I have a rare version.
Mine too
 19. Would you repaint a Victorian dining table ? It's not like Victorian varnish was awful but it would be a bit of a shame
