1.
Didn't Neil Murray offer to help out with this for someone a while ago? I seem to recall a thread to which he contributed
Yes - do a furum search
 2. I don't gig as such but if I'm off out to OM night I usually pick the precision as it totally fits in. I always take an acoustic bass and sometimes swap the relic precision out for a vintage stingray copy
 3. You can buy jazz bodies quite cheaply on eBay - surely a Luthier can spray it up for you for less
 4. it says "

Members

6 posts

Gender:Male
Location:Nijmegen Holland
Interests:Music, Art, Live, peopl
Hope this helps
 5. Can the venue sort something out? Maybe they have contacts
 6.
My home would be the road, something I've always wanted. I'm single and my kids are working adults, I could get up and leave tonight if the right opportunity presented itself. Blue
I would go, in your situation In a heartbeat
 7.
I stopped off in Cleethorpes last February , en route to Scarborough. It was so bloody freezing I had to buy some extra clothing. It was also pretty deserted. I loved it. I sat in a really nice fish restaurant and had fish n chips completely on my own.
I know exactly the one you're talking about
 8.
Thanks Geek, Nice history of the Holiday Camp. Blue
Welcome - it's important to realise how grim Britain was after the war when you read it
 9. i love playing it, especially to a crowd. At the local church OM, they clap and cheer wildly even if youre not any good or make (to me) glaring errors. Lots of people get up and dance and it pretty much me doing that (I'm the only bass player in the village) . Bass is just totally f*(king awsome. I nearly fell over the first time I heard myself fill a room with loud precision bass; I'd do it all day if I could My idea of me-time is picking out some sheet music or tab and playing something I havent tried before.
 10. Nate Watts has been in it. I did subscribe, but its a little expensive and I'm too busy most days to even open my post, let alone read a magazine.
 11.
OMG, funny stuff. Finally British humour that doesn't go over my head. Blue
When I was in Rochester, NY, my guide Marie pointed out the canal. I never knew the US had canals for the same purpose we did (transportation of goods before road transport got popular). She knew this would surprise me. In much the same way, I've been racking my brains trying to think if I have ever heard of an american equivalent of the holiday camp and I cant think of one. After WW2 few people here had cars, and so the holiday camp you could reach by train in a couple of hours from pretty much anywhere was a good idea. I suspect there is no direct equivalent largely due to geography and more distributed populations in the US. It was all a bit second rate, but still better than the factory https://en.wikipedia...ki/Holiday_camp
 12.
Cool, I've heard of Lincolnshire. Blue
Our eastern seaboard, about halfway up the country Seaside town
 13. That looks really nice I'm quite trad but if buy it if i had space GLWTS
 14.
Against the rules though
Sorry - I meant "on basschat" rather than "an auction site", and put up a guide price for each that you can live with
 15.
That's the sort of dimensions you need for an acoustic bass to work acoustically. Very few are that size.
Aren't the Mexican ones of that size called a guitarron?
 16. Just list it here and invite offers
 17. Whoever buys this should make sure they have a 51 style bass that this guitar can really really resent and refuse to be In the same car as GLWTS
 18.
No. I'm guessing geek was just having a tough day.
I was having a very tough week, and I still am, however I also thank you for the understanding and empathy; I do appreciate it
I've read through this thread a couple of times now and I keep coming back to this reply. Don't really see anything wrong with the topic subject or the way the original posr is/was phrased; I just don't get how the post was unthoughtful. I wholly understand how difficult life can be to accommodate the whims if the gigging musician; our ex-guitarist has a daughter that requires 24 hour care, but I doubt he would have said the post was in any way unthoughtful. Are we heading towards a situation here where we're unable to ask relatively straightforward questions on a forum for fear of upsetting anyone? #confused
Are we heading towards a situation where its all fluffy bunnies and no one can raise a protest of any kind? Some disparaging comments about bedroom warriors do surface from time to time, and I don't like the condescension. Some of us have fewer choices. I deleted my post, so now you don't need to keep coming back to it. #thereyougo @TheBrig, I understand your position a little better now btw
 19. I've had one of those, Mr Painy. I would keep it and enjoy if you possibly can . A new bridge is cheap, and bear in mind that the jack sockets often go, but you can get a neutrik model at Maplin for about £5
 20. ok - i stand corrected but he is talking about an older 2005 model?
 21.
I thought everyone would get that.
Blue comes from a different culture - similar but different
 22. "the soapbar pickup is wired directly to a locking Neutrik jack socket."
 23. They do look COOL though, no end of people stand in front of me counting the strings before asking "is that a bass?"
 24.
Nonsense, you can learn a lot from records and even more from books and structured lessons. I'm a rock guy, however I was able to win an audition to play bass in my university jazz band for 4 years because in addition to moving that needle back and fourth I had also studied and took lessons which taught me to read charts. Blue
Wasn't he being ironic ?
 25. I've had the fretted version and it was lovely
