  1. Ok I do know it’s been a while ive finished grain filling finally and I’m sanding off the residue one trick I’ve learned is to wipe white spirit over to show the grain and highlight spots that need more filler or sanding. Monday is final sanding and sanding sealer
  2. take a look here
  3. There’s Lots of links in the transcription section
  4. can you fix some kind of wood bar to the existing holes over the pickup and have it extend backwards ? You could paint it to suit Or just strap your hand to the bass in position and use it as an excuse to never put the bass down again ever
  5. It was good enough for duck dunn in the blues brother's movies. He had a thumb rest fitted further back.
  6. No not yet if you look at violins they have foam bridge muted that you can possibly adapt
  7. I play whatever style comes my way - finger style only i use a p bass and a zoom b2.1 set to ampeg svt, with full fat cab flavouring. The comp is set to fairly subtle - I tried turning it off and the whole thing didn’t sound quite as smooth, throbby, focused so I leave it on. Never heard a bad word yet about my sound ** ** I’m probably deaf ...
  8. I’m NOT a metal fan but I liked this a lot more than I thought I would
  9. I’m seriously thinking of my bursting my own eardrums just so I don’t have to hear it again. If Peter kay did that as a routine we would all say it was too much
  10. I had a sigma 12 string many years ago and it was superb
  11. Ask @Andyjr1515
  12. i was lucky that it was a church run OM so a fairly relaxed crowd with the requisite number of kids doing violin and so on.
  13. knowing a host as I do, he told me it was really hard to balance people. I didn't really believe him but I think I understand it better now @nightsun He managed to fit me in with the house guitarist and it turnred into a regular spot that we did. It was seamless but I see why now.
  14. Its going to need a second dose of grain filler to fill in the little pin holes and a small trench on the back that I didnt see. Also a rounded sanding bit to tidy up the lug hoes. I'm on holiday at Bass central in Florida so things may go a bit quiet.
  15. Try a fret saw @BrunoBass I mean one of those saws with a fine toothed blade that you can change direction with easily. Big metal rectangular frame. edit : a coping saw https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coping_saw
  16. well not quite - I went to my first OM and there was a house guitarist who would support a lone vocallst or a group of kids. Not quite the clapton wannabe that others describe, more a support crutch if you need one.
  17. I’ve never tried an actual jam night but am also equally aware of being the “ only bass player in the village” syndrome open mic mic was fun though as I tried lots of stuff I hadn’t heard before
  18. I go for black pearlescent
  19. the mic is built-in, and the piezo comes with it.
  20. @Matt P I had exactly that one, in a twelve string acoustic I suspect that its a clone, but it works just fine and the tuner is good. Its quite easy to leave the tuner on, flattening the battery One thing I would say is that you need to be careful how much wood you remove to fit the swing battery design, but thats true of all those ilk. I mad e a cardboard template first, then cut out to that. One thing, I did not like the rope coiled wire pickup it came with, I bought an artec 12 string "solid bar" pickup on ebay, as I prefer the saddle to have a solid base, the rope coil style was a bit squishy
  21. Yuck Yuck Now I won’t get that picture out of my mind
  22. I heard him playing the original in a concert on YouTube and it sounded mighty. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one wherever it was made
