I'm thinking of replacing original 250 k vol pot by 500 k pot on my BB 2024x because i find that sound is a bit dark. I dont' think like BB2000 said that a cap change will solve the problem because cap doesn't affect the tone when tone pot is full open and in my case sound is a little bit too dark even if tone pot is full open.
You could save some time and trouble and temporarily disconnect one lead of the cap. The pot and cap will then be out of the equation and if there is no brightening of tone, an increase in pot or reduction in cap won't help. Have you tried a good quality lead? Some leads can be tone killers.
Maybe a strings change could fix propblem: nikel=>steel
It did for me.
New neighbours have moved into the square next to a pub that's been there for a few hundred years and playing amplified music since it was invented , have complained so much the nights logistics are getting harder
There was a petition about this (with the expected government response!)
I had this with a 201. The holes in the bridge were too tight a fit to the screws and tightening them lifted it as the threads engaged with the base plate. Slightly (note SLIGHTLY) enlarge the holes in the bridge with a file and it'll be fine.
The screws supplied with my Gotoh were very thin compared to iriginal screws. Did you use the original screws? I opened up the holes by 0.5mm (with a drill) and used Fender screws - the Gotoh screws would probably not tighten up in the holes in the body anyway.

Harley Benton Bass Ukulele - String Changing
pfretrock replied to geoham's topic in General Discussion
Getting the new string in should be easy! Poke a piece of 'hook up wire' through from the bridge, keep threading it in and with luck you will reach it through the sound hole (may snag on the ribs) . Attach new string to the wire with masking tape, make sure there are no bits that will snag and pull through (slowly). Done this with an acoustic, but obviously the uke has less space to work with. Or, do get a volunteer with small hands, or a specially trained squirrel works a treat. -
Got some tools from Crimson a few months back. I had bought a short scale Harley Benton PB with a plan to make a short scale FenderBird (HarleyBird?). There was a lot of buzz on the rounds that came with it. I decided to try levelling. Don't think I would have done this without Ben's videos, which seem to be more detailed than some I've seen. If you take your time, it is not so hard. Incidentally, the neck is very good, can't complain for £50, its like a P bass in width (~62mm at heel and ~42mm at the short end). Have put a spare set of flats on it now and it sounds a lot better than you would expect for the money - I'm almost losing interest in routing out a scaled down tbird body now!

Got a couple of things from there, a bass and a drum machine, delivery was fast, next day I think. Had problem first time finding out how to log on to check/track my account after the order. An email sorted it out in a few minutes.

Increase the size of the control cavity on a Precision
pfretrock replied to Delberthot's topic in Repairs and Technical
An idea. Before you start carving attach the pickguard and use a permanent ink pen (the kind that washes away with alcohol) to trace the outline of the pickguard so you know that you won't be exposing the cavity when carving. This only works with laquer bodies, don't do it on a unlaquered body
I did this, but put masking tape on first! (and used a pencil). I found the route only just big enough for a Switchcraft style jack, and very close to the pickguard edge. So I chopped a bit off the replacement jack (different type to Switchcraft) to get it to fit. The route was only deepened a bit further along to fit a switch pot. -
Fit a smaller blend pot CTS do a good 250K mini with centre detent.
Do this in preference to machining. Not sure how common this is but on my MIM P there is only a few millimeters of body under the scratch plate near the output jack position. You may expose the cavity! -

What he said. It's hard to find sometimes. I rarely go to the recording section.
