Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
pfretrock replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
The R458 8 string guitar deko has sold already!!!!! Looks like someone else is tracking these instruments in real time EDIT: A few minutes later, the stratocaster guitar has already sold. The 1975 Vintage Jazz bass is still there.
It's all down to science. Remember where they are. LINK -
[pedantry] I assume you're joking here.... [/pedantry]
Of course. I used Euclidean Geometry to calcuate the edge of a 24" radius board is around 0.75mm lower then the middle. I thought the FES may have an answer for post #27 !
... there are also a few loose fret ends on the treble side but tbh nowt that half an hour with some superglue and a clamp won't fix!
That's the problem with my fret 17 and will also be the solution. Have some ultra low viscosity super glue ready. If they are selling these for around 150 Euro and fail the factory QA, I guess its not economical to rectify and that may be why Thomann are selling off as Dekos. Can't see any other faults.
The bronze strings that came on it are alright for now, not sure about what I'll put on maybe some nylons?
Status flatwound nylons coated are inexpensive. Work well for me, but then I avoid all rounds.
Edit. Is it bad that I'm considering the 5 string fret less
Of course not. -
Whoa, I'll bookmark this for later... I still can't decide whether they have an exquisite sense of humour and promote healthy debate and thinking, or it's one of the whackiest things I've seen in the net recently, but either way it caught my attention
It would look really cool on your business card though.
what school of thought makes a circle or zero radius not a point?
This one Link
Me too as was the 24" radius (near flat) on my graft acg and custom telebass made by mike Walsh
Why 24" and not flat? I guess it's a marketing thing (big is better, but avoid infinite (or zero)). Just calculated the centre of the board is less than 1mm higher than the edge.

...and my tracking notifications arrived 48 hrs after the movement. -
I worry more about my frets, I'm sure the TI flats will outlive them seem to have significant wear after 12 months. Am I playing too much, or do I need a multiple GAS upgrade?

This is what I've typically had. Order placed Sunday14th but not acted upon til Monday 15th. (they don't work weekends). I could not see any parcel force tracking info until 5.00am on 19th. This shipment was about 24 hours slower than I was getting in previous months. -
Welcome from another Worcestershire resident. I have Thomastik Infeld flatwounds on my P bass. Flats have higher tension than rounds but these are a little less than some other brands. Nice and smooth and no squeak. Downside is they are expensive. I'm just about to put some Status flatwounds on a short scale bass, I'll let you know how these are in a few days. I've got soft small hands and don't have a problem with these. But I do tend to play too hard with right hand fingers and lose skin (cannot use a pick to save my life) Sounds like you need a DI box, pity you missed the Hartke Bass Attacks for £37 A new bridge is 99.999% cosmetic
A fellow Harley Benton acoustic owner ( BK-35 NT ) is wondering about the strings supplied. He's emailed Thomann asking what brand they are but no reply, Can anyone here help ?
I removed the bronze rounds from my DEKO fretted B-35NT 5iver after 1 day. Can't see me ever using them, he is welcome to them if any use -
You obviously typed the correct shipping address (which generates the address label) so one can only assume that the label has got torn, defaced or damaged in some way.
Have you logged on to Thomann's website to check they have your address correct on file? I've never had any problems, ordered several times. Usually on Sunday or Mondays and its alway arrived by 8.00 am following Thursday, sometimes late Wednesday. Usually have it delivered to work and that may help as we have Parcel Force deliveries most days and are <10 miles from a big depot. Home delivery I suspect may give me problems. -
hi everyone. Im graham ,55yrs old and NEVER touched a bass in my life!!!!
Welcome, you're not too old - you're younger than I am, got my first bass just 12 months ago. Had a very good year with it! Wish I had done it years ago, but maybe I did not have enough patience when younger (In my teens, gave up guitar after 1 year and piano after 2 years )
any tips or things to avoid???
Yes, GAS.
If, however, one's objective is not to become Rembrandt, but simply to have a nice colourful picture of a Tigger, PBN are just fine. Similarly, tabs are useful to many. Not much harm done, methinks..?
This tab helped me play the piece without using any colored pencils. But most tab I find is just badly written.
This is a good read.
I hope that works... And this is a good read. http://jamersonanaly...blogspot.co.uk/

Lots of dots in the aforementioned book. If you don't read (I don't ) there is some tab here which is fun to play. Quite a few stretches for my small hands! http://www.thebassme..._enough-tab.pdf I read somewhere (possibly in the Hanyes Fender manual) that Jameson's bass was mixed low level in the records otherwise due to technical limitations it caused the pickup arm to jump out of the vinyl track and they hoped it would be someday re-mastered.

Not back from here. Same yesterday. Hope it's nothing to do with the Fender In Trouble thread. Massive downsize...? Website updates don't usually take 2 days or more.
