1.
Currently English "Brideshead Revisited" Star Jeremy Ions is looking at re-launching his US career.
I heard he was attracted to Van der Graaf Generator.
 2.
I used long masonry screws, drilled into the brick (old house, no plasterboard), brown rawlplugs.... and the f***ing thing still came away from the wall & smashed my bass into the floor.
Holes drilled too big? Screws too thin? Screws too short?
 3. Chuck Berry never did anything like 95 in his Cadillacs. He was an early campaigner on global warming and never exceeded 65. Actually that's not true, it was because gasoline was a good 30 cents a gallon.
 4. Snap, really? Those are frame fixings, not suitable at all.. If you can put a decent heavy duty plastic rawlplug into the brick that should be OK. looks like you need a hammer drill. I usually drill out the plaster so the plug is pushed in and is flush with the surface on the brick. You will need to open up the holes in the wood part of the hanger to get decent size screws in, the ones supplies are way too small. Should not need 'no more nails' as you'll only be gluing onto weak plaster. If in doubt, get local help if you can. My P and Tbird have not fallen off yet (one wall tough brick, other wall 'el cheapo' breeze block!)
 5. The Cadillac Three only have one automobile, they share a Buick Six they got from Bob Dylan.
 6.
... as it's in my Jamerson book,
Is that 'standing in the shadows'? may be a more accurate transcription in the Hal Leonard book.
 7.
<p>&nbsp;</p>
I suspect this is the computer equivalent of an eighth rest, otherwise known as a non breaking space. I love HTML.
 8. Great stuff, glad it worked. Zero out of ten to SD for changing the wiring colour codes!
 9.
One thought on that; you may want to use a higher value pot than 47K for the output level, as the output of these preamps apparently works better when run into a high impedance input.
Agree. On the power supply side, Barry's smaller unit does not have a centre tap heater - this is usually grounded to kill 50Hz hum. But you can add a low value pot across the heaters and ground the wiper. Adjust pot for minimum hum.
 10. Not much to go wrong with passives wiring - sure they are not active? Here's the diagram from SD (just noticed SJ5 is five string passive pickups.) (rename to .pdf)
 11. After the massive 1975 hit by the UKs 10cc, a US band formerly known as 5cc quickly changed their name to The Loving Spoonfull.
 12. 60s popster Frank Ifield retired from singing after a throat operation. However he started the delivery company Yodel and can often be seen on a weekend shift driving a van wearing a baseball cap (reversed) as a disguise. (I'll now get reprimanded by the thread owner for deviating from rock music)
 13. The wiring diagram that comes with SD pickups has such an arrangement for something called a SJ5 (whatever that is) in addition to the usual SB and SJ diagrams, with black/white pairs: Shield (bare) - to ground White - to ground Red - to pot (hot lead) Can scan diagram if needed, but I'm a few miles from my scanner and have ISP problems.
 14.
I have a great MIM precision from I think 2003 with a lovely neck I prefer to the U.S. versions I try out in local music shops. I did try swapping the pick up for Seymour Duncan SP3 but I found it too boomy and preferred the stock MIM but I wonder if it is worth trying the U.S. stock pick up. Did it make it much difference to the tone when you upgraded it please?
I swapped the MIM pickups for SP3s. I measured the inductance of both at the time (it's a geek thing). The SP3s were twice the inductance (more windings) of the stock MIMs so would tend towards the boomy end, depending on what follows though. Mine was not excessively boomy, even wiith flats.
 15.
... but you can fit a pick in the neck pocket
Never got the hang of using a pick, so I don't need anywhere to keep one. Seriously, I have a 2013 MIM P with a seriously good neck.
 16.
The toroidal mains transformers from TubeTown in Germany look like good value and would help keep the weight down too. http://www.tube-town...uah9e8k5&sort=7
I got one from Ampmaker, low enough to hide under the chassis, more room to show off the valves up top. little stray magnetic field. Pity there is no torroidal ouput transformer. (AFAIK). Ugly things, transformers. Home build is Ok up to 18W, gets expensive and scary high voltages beyond that.
 17. Am I too late to see Fish perform in a tent in Marrakech ? http://rack.bauermed...ech/planetrock/
 18.
The Pink Fairies hated soap.
Never Never Land was the only album to have a Track One, Side Two. All other albums begin mysteriously on track two; track one being missing.
 19. My Mexican Fender P had similar shims, a black plastic material on top of the metal shim. After about 9 month they shredded and fell out. Sometime later I got a slight buzz from the E tuner. Took it apart, re-assembled and its been OK. Your post #6 seems to be correct. Bin them before they fall out.
 20.
Air Supply hate vacuums.
The Pink Fairies never owned a vacuum cleaner.
 21. 60s band The Temperance Seven don't like to mention their 8th member, a violent, alcoholic electric bass player. I'd better have an orange juice, gave up beer after buying a Fender P bass. Cheers!
 22.
I'm still a bit wet behind the gills when it comes to scales.
I'm Ok with F shark.
