1. Thanks for that, a lot I did not know. First encountered Willie Dixon on Johnny Winter's first CBS album in '69/70. A great musician and composer.
 2. Hmmm... aluminium pot shafts, don't take a grub screw as well as old fashioned brass. When was the bass made? Mine is around 2012. Years ago when I used to work in electronics, we always swapped the 'set' screws that came with knobs for hex drive grub screws, they tended to hold better, having a better designed point. Then collett knobs came out. But too expensive for guitar makers. Nail varnish may help, but if the aluminium is giving it may not.
 3.
US slaphead Marcus Miller is allergic to Flour.
I heard he played a Miller's Thumb bass but that sounds like a fishy story to me.
 4.
Gravel-voiced Bassist Ian Kilminster and Trevor McDoughnut are forming a duo. They are however searching for an appropriate name.
Kilminster plays a Rik, give the other chap a 5 string bass. Then it's Lemmy-a-Fiver. Any other name would cause confusion.
 5.
You should definitely pay more attention at storing your kings' corpses. ....
I got rather upset when I discovered the French bankrolled the campaign to kill off R III. But I won't hold it against you, was long ago. We English also like queues. We queue up for almost anything, even long dead kings. Welcome, btw.
 6. My mex p has a solid brass pot shaft and solid metal knob.. Have they gone cheap?
 7. PJ Proby got his name after wearing pyjamas on stage. This was the only garment available after an unfortunate trouser-splitting incident on stage.
 8. The Psychedelic Furs only ever gig in plain T shirts or the occasional goat skin coat.
 9. Songstress and musician Roberta Flack's first backing band was called The Jackets.
 10.
I thought it was a 10A load? And the plug fuse is to protect the lead - the internal amp fuses are to protect the amp. Or something.
Yes you're right. The current rating of the lead should be moulded into the connector and it is usually 10A for IEC. Not seen a kettle with a connector for about 20 years, what are you lot using to make tea? Gold plated fuses (gold being a heavy metal) are best for metal. But don't tell the audiophiles, they have enough problems with oxygen free cables
 11.
I don't need to take it to a tech, it's fine. I can get my bass to play beautifully and there's no abnormal resistance when turning the rod. I'm just curious and wanting to learn about my instrument, there's no need to assume there's a problem just because I'm asking a question
Same here, learnt to do it myself, firstly from Fender's official bass manual. Six sets of string on 4 basses last year, two needed a slight tweak after a few months, I'd spend a fortune at a decent guitar tech and possibly a 40 mile round trip. It's not rocket science.
 12. Saw them early 70s before they did the mega tour things. The most perfunctory performance I've ever seen. If they come on the radio, I change stations quickly - unless it is Let It Bleed.
 13. Could be quite a bit of slack (backlash) at the centre before tension is applied to the rod. I've never gone there. When changing strings, I check and adjust the truss rod after tuning up. Don't think I've ever had to move it more than you can swing an Allen key betweed A&D at the head. Usually slightly turned right to reduce relief as I'm forever replacing rounds with flats with every GAS.
 14.
You must not know the depth of the hard core Beatles fan. Liverpool, I would be in heaven just thinking about the history and breathing the air. Blue
A late comment (dodgy internet connexion the last few weeks). A few years back we saw one of those 50/60s R&R/pop re-enactment shows at theatres in London, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Liverpool. The same cast at each, the actors and musicians were all first rate (I won't mention the show). There was something different about the Liverpool audience, there was a buzz in the air, they were up for it. It was something I noticed. Maybe it was the venue (Empire theatre, played several times by the mop tops) or maybe the people. Even the taxi driver was talking about the show on the way back to the hotel. Incidentally there was an interesting radio program at the weekend on the 'Scouse' language. Should be on iPlayer but perhaps not outside the UK.
 15. "The folk singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell is being treated in intensive care in hospital in Los Angeles. The website jonimitchell.com, which describes itself as the artist’s official site, said: “Joni was found unconscious in her home this afternoon. She regained consciousness on the ambulance ride to an LA area hospital." “She is currently in intensive care undergoing tests and is awake and in good spirits. More updates to come as we hear them. Light a candle and sing a song, let’s all send good wishes her way.” http://www.theguardi...EMCNEWEML6619I2
 16.
[sub]I see they are advertising jobs at Thomann, they are looking for a Head of Deco Sales....(OK, the last bit was a lie)[/sub]
I saw the advertisement for a zero hours contract person to punch Ds onto the Decos.... (OK, a lie also)
 17.
Was going to make a joke about sauce, but maybe not. Welcome to the forum.
Welcome VP. I don't know any salt jokes.
 18.
Thanks for the heads up on this show - TBH I didn't even know it existed, I'll give it a listen :-)
Just noticed Teamrock radio also do a 2 hour blues show at 22:00 weekends. Just tried the on demand thing and got Muddy Waters. But again a small already converted audience. These DAB online stations have less than 1% each of total radio audience.
 19.
.... with the look of someone sucking on a lemon..
I guess the juice just did not run down his leg.
 20.
It was Bonnie Raitt http://www.planetroc...5-03-19&time=19
Thanks! did not know this list existed - but my internet is busted at the moment.
 21. This thread is in real danger of losing it's crap image. Warren Haynes gave up golf, he always ended up in a rabbit hole.
 22. No one mentioned Joanne Shaw Taylor yet. I suspect most of the blues followers are 40 something to sixty something, very few young kids follow it. In this connected world, no one learns to play Key To The Highway anymore from a record when there is so much other stuff around.
 23.
Didn't catch it, but one of these? Skip the first three minutes:
Thanks it was Bonnie, but not that live recording, but studio with guitar + bass. It's still on listen again for a few more hours.
 24.
The main problem is that there isn't any programming on TV and radio (apart from Paul Jones show on R2 on Monday nights) that promotes the Blues in this country.
So you missed Bernard Doherty's 'Ladies Night' on PlanetRock last week. He does have a weekly blues-power show. Last week's show was female blues artists. If anyone caught this show, do you know who sang Can't Find My Way Home, the last but one track? It was playing as I drove home, Doherty Pi**ed off at 7:48 ("See ya") and the last three tracks played unannounced.
