1.
I think one piece of feedback I received a while back describes my packaging as "unorthodox but effective!". I basically buy a big roll of bubble wrap and wrap it a good 10-15 times. Even if it's a cheap pedal. I do the same for basses as well. If someone is paying for delivery (which I generally factor into my price) then why the hell should I skimp on packaging!?
Seems a sensible way. I've often had stuff packed like that. Some advice from Thomann attached for returning items, which seems to exceed the standard they use to ship out. Note the bubble warp and the need to survive a 1 metre drop!
 2.
It's not easy being green..( was that another J*zz reference?)
Peter Green sometimes found it not easy being Green. Listening to the space he left between his notes, it could not have been J*zz.
 3. Replacement bass arrived from UK dealer, 24 hour delivery. Only £20 more than Thomann. Would have picked up from PMT - but they don't do it. There are too many Fender/Squier models!
 4.
I tried this when I first had the problem and got this:
Which album was that? Perhaps some have different permissions. I've only looked at Sgt Pepper.
 5. The Rolling Stones song 'Lady Jane' was written about Lady Jane Grey, the inventor of Lady Grey tea, which is a variation of Earl Grey tea with the addition of lemon and orange peel oil.
 6.
Wrong Brew, it was "Strange" not "Bitches". Where's a Mod when you need one.....?
Oooops... I thought we'd moved on to 'Brew' as a sub-topic. Mods gave up around page 2, I believe.
 7.
Adobe Acrobat. It came bundled with my laptop.
No security settings in the PDF file. File -> Properties gives this:
 8.
Strange Brew refers to experiments to drum up business with new flavours such as Ginger Flaker.
Rock facts about Bitches Brew banned due to being within the Jazz category. Pity, it was fascinating
 9. Returned bass arrived back at Thomann's 49 hours after collection.
 10.
My download still says in the Permission box that you can't print it. I am a techno muppet though so if anybody can tell me what I'm doing wrong that would be good.
I've used Acrobat reader and Foxit (free pdf reader), both print OK. Do you know what you are using to view the PDFs ?
 11. I have a couple of Hercules also, the ones with wooden base. I did not use the screws supplied with one but drilled the base out to hold a slightly longer screw (one wall was a bit iffy, other was in decent brick)
 12.
Billie Holiday...
Was she a Jazz singer?
 13. John Bonham was an excellent pinball player, due no doubt from excelling at playing drums from the wrist. Keith Moon, ironically, was not a good pinball player. On one tour he got so frustrated that he wheeled the pinball machine out of the hotel bar and shoved it into the swimming pool.
 14.
Do I detect a "Jazz" influence creeping into "The alternative Rock Factfile"? I might have to seek a ruling from a Mod....
While working on his album 'Lumpy Gravy', Frank Zappa was working nights as a trainee chef. In Typical Zappa fashion, the track 'Theme From Lumpy Gravy' appeared later on his Make A Jazz Noise Here recordings.
 15.
Works alright on a Mac.
Works OK on my PC
 16.
You're lyin', man.
Carol Kaye told me, she's allus right.
 17.
Excellent resource. Is there a way to print out an individual tab?
Your browser may be displaying them in its window. You need to download and then view with any PDF viewer. You can then select any page(s) to print. Printing direct from the browser is usually a mess.
 18. I got a set recently for my short scale Jaguar. They seem to be tighter wound than other flats, you can hardly see the windings, compared to D'Addario or TIs. I suspect this makes them stiffer and hence sound a bit duller than the others. I've now put them on a Harley Benton short scale (which had awful rounds on). E is not too bad, slightly duller but OK. maybe you have a bad one. They say they are hand wound, so perhaps there is some variation.
 19. Same here. The wrong package arrived in 3.5 business days. Now on its way back. ETA in Germany, within 3 business days
 20. Good point. Actually the tang of the fret is clipped off where it goes over the binding. you may be able to see if frets are not fully down if you can slide a piece of paper between the fret and binding and some way over the actual fretboard. I hear Be-Bop Delxue are popular in China at the moment.
 21.
think it's actually the nut that needs sorting to get the action down to where I want it rather than just a case of lowering the saddles but I'd rather let a pro do that in case I make a mess of it.
Saddle height is adjusted to taste, but looks like you had a sweet spot previously. On the other hand there is only one correct nut height. If you fret at the third fret, there should be daylight under the first fret. I think it should be a few thou ( 6 ?) You need to check each string and I'd definitely get a pro to adjust. This test is only good if you know the frets are level!
 22.
and one high fret which makes a couple of notes from the 15th-17th fret on the G string fret out or buzz. I can sort the high fret without too much trouble.
same problem as my HB. I suspect the neck frets are pressed in with a tool and the body frets can only be hammered in. My loose 17th fret has slight evidence of being hamered to get the treble side down. Ive pressed it in and it does not buzz now, have some superglue ready when I get around to it. I wonder if the 'Fretless' label inside can be explained by they started out fretless but were later fretted (with some QA issues) ?
 23. When I looked, it said something like 'limited stocks available', for the custom line. I presume the fast sales were a single item.
 24. Former Wichita resident Glen Campbell was the first guy in town to own a cell phone.
