1. I just re-installed the original P pickups in my MIM P yesterday (taken out 6 months ago to try another pup) and they also have a slight tilt. I put it down to there are only two screws (unlike a J pup with 4) so the foam can get a bit squashed over and it is not easy to level. Bass is only 18 months old, so nothing degraded. Don't think it matters, I could not be bothered to strip the bass down again. Don't remember what it was like originally, but the replacement pup was more level.
 2.
And he takes half an hour to say what he could have said in 3 minutes. I think he must like the sound of his own voice.
I did not even give him 3 minutes - he was driving me nuts. However I've just been given a link to the conclusions. From this, it looks like it is to be avoided... http://hackaday.com/2015/06/06/crowdfunding-follies-debunking-the-batteriser/
 3.
I'm not feelin' too good, myself.
You should read the calisthenics column in The Bassist's Daily. It is a much better paper that that dreadful tabloid paper Sun.
 4.
Quite right, too. Too much trafficking going on, eh..?
Quite often, I would find I Can't Find My Way Home. Much better with no beer
 5.
Hmm, I recognise that..! It would seem we have the same culture.
Beer drinking? No, I gave up when I started bass practice
 6.
Is that sow..?
Yep, but tragedy struck. Their sound engineer, John Barleycorn, died.
 7.
I hear they're using Reaper to record their next album.
But both bands cannot agree between themselves whether to use Reaper 3 or Reaper 4.
 8.
9, although having to work out what every note was from middle C means I'm rather slow on note recognition and I've never encountered the alto clef before (otherwise I'd have crept into double figures).
Having just read this... 9.
If these strings were considered to be worth less than what they're usually sold at, there wouldn't be so much excitement around them being sold for £30.
But there is quite a difference between £47, what they usually go for, and £30. Hence the excitement. I'm also puzzled how (or why) Thomann have that price. (perhaps they're Dekos ) They also have 32" scale at a similar price. I recently got a set from Bassdirect because (i) not many stock this size. (ii) they bothered to quote the silk to ball length. These (32") are obviously designed for a 2+2 head and not a 4 in a line, so the E has 1/2 turn of sounding length on the post. (minor rant over!)
 10.
Always wondered, don't the crops get trampled/spoiled if they're ready at the time of the Festival?
Before the festival, the fields only have sheepshit on them, no crops. After the festival........you don't really wanna know.
 11. If you drop the tuning a half step, is the bad sustain still the same on the 24th, and to a 'lesser extent' the 23rd ? If it is a resonance problem I would expect at least the 23rd to improve, since I presume 22 was OK on standard tuning. May be a bad fret though.
 12.
That critique seems rather at odds with the original article,...
Think he's talking through his hat. It's a boost convertor technology that should give a regulated output.
 13. ""...Roohparvar says the sleeve will also work with 1.2 volt rechargeable batteries, boosting them up to 1.5 volts..."" Would avoid this as it may result in deep discharge - not good for the battery.
 14. Five weeks? Blimey, we need a revolution. If you don't have an infection, try Boots dual action ear drops. You should check with the pharmacist first. Ear syringing can knock you stupid, had it a few times and it's a lot easier if the wax is softened. Last time I used the boots stuff, it cleared itself. It has hydrogen peroxide (1%) and is very effective.
 15.
And as if by magic, this suddenly arrived in my in-box: Hello! I'm sorry you're getting the mail from me at this Point in time,my family and I came down here to Istanbul, I'm freaked out at the moment....
I've had a few of these. It usually means someone you know has had their laptop/PC (and address book) hacked. Seem to be as common as the Nigerian money affair, or the soon to be fat fired bassist affair.
 16.
[sub]60's "Shout" songstress and M&S model Lulu has a detailed rider in her Performing Contract as to the provision of toilet facilities.[/sub]
When said songstress performed at folkie Cropredy a few years ago, the contract was amended to include a Tree Bog, somewhere near the river Cherwell.
 17. Wanted: KitKat, must be original foil wrapped, I so miss running my finger down the inner foil wrapper. Four finger variety preferred, but would accept two. Damn you Nestle.
 18.
Ben Folds Five are in the studio working on their new album, provisionally titled "Origami".
You can actually fold a piece of paper in half six times. Ben was mistaken.
 19. If you mess it up, or need spares, I have a (free!) spare set of strings removed from a HB shorty P (assume that's what you have?). Never been used, I put flats on everything., I'll never use them. Been playing mine all week, Fender P is sulking on the wall! If you get inside it and the wiring looks a bit weird with only one wire to the pup, it's because they are screened wires. It looks like the second pickup end is not connected to anything.
 20. Didn't Jon Anderson take a (oriental) rug on tour, back in the Yessongs era?
 21. Mine extends from near the neck to the P pickup, almost 3 1/2" long, so it tended to rotate on one screw. Hence the tape. Did not want to drill another mounting hole. I always aim to make any mods reversible.
 22.
The adhesive may react though....
Quite possible on 60's material.
 23. Did something similar on my P using a pickguard screw . Never liked using the pup as a thumb rest. I used a piece of rosewood. If you add double sided tape (the very thin stuff you peel the backing off) it will not slip around and scratch the plate. The screw need not be over tight then..
 24.
I've always been a vol + pan guy but now I'm really feeling the vol + vol + 3 way selector (recent Ric convert).
I've just rewired my Tele bass to vol + vol + tone by adding a second vol. It was vol + tone + 3 way selector. Now it is wired similar to a ric, the redundant 3 way switch now used to switch in two hi pass filters on the bridge pickup. An improvement on the slightly muddy neck pickup all or nothing 3 way switch.
 25.
True on not, it appealed to my sense of conspiracy.
There is a lot of it about. Guitar pots are nothing special, just standard electronic components made by dozens of manufacturers. A common size was 1 inch, but I've not seen these for years (I worked in electronics for decades). Most pots are around 20-23mm, this seems to be the standard. Mini pots are common now (16mm), everything in electronics is getting smaller. And I suspect they are cheaper. Certainly the last few I got were rather poor and noisy! The control route in my Squier is about 31mm wide and in my Telebass 27mm. So almost any pot will fit. You'd have to be careful aligning the tags with the route to prevent shorts on the screening and this may make assembly cheaper/quicker for minipots.
