But Bron-Yr-Aur must have been built years before that. How many steps are there into the cottage?
 7. When Pye muso Tony Hatch wrote the theme music for the '60s ATV soap Crossroads, he borrowed a guitar riff from Robert Johnson's 1936 recording. Whether there was a copyright issue or it just did not fit with the program's concept is unknown, but it was rejected by the TV company and he had to quickly re-write the theme.
 8. On November 21 1952, Leo Fender filed a patent for a fretted Precision electric bass. He got the idea for a bolt-on neck after watching a re-run of the 1931 movie Frankenstein.

 11. Country music fans may be interested to know that the Gibson Brothers use Harley Benton signature guitars and banjos.
 12.
Whose volt was that..?
It was Michael Faraday's fault. He gave Jools boogie woogie piano lessons, but it did not work out too well. There was just no magnetism or chemistry between them. You need a good teacher.
 13.
No, that's Henry Rollins.
I heard Jools Holland was invited, but he did not quite have the right sort of energy.
 14.
Wasn't there some resistance to that, as he didn't have the capacity..?
No, he should be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.
 15.
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith has never forgiven his brother for going on a summer holiday without him.
Known to his closest friend as 'spider', inventor of The Tour Bus.
 16. The inventor of the Fuzz Box got the idea while spending the night in a police cell.
 17. Mojo music magazine once ran an article on prominent bass players, but refused to include Chris Squire because he played in a band with a singer who had a 'squeaky voice'. - Wait.... that's actually true!
 18. Paul McCartney got the idea for his band's name after the body of his Gibson Thunderbird fell apart into 3 pieces. He had to complete the recording of the band's first album using a 4001

 22.
There's been a thread somewhere on here where someone bought a "décor only" bass from Thomann and it was absolutely fine, only some tiny visual faults.
Some of the items have close up photos showing the defects. There were a couple of acoustic HB basses with a 10p sized dent in the back, for example.
 23. Acker does not come in until 1:48, but worth the wait for what's before and after.
 24. You might want to read Dan Armstrong's attempt to increase sustain, by building a massive body. He forgot about the bridge. http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/640
 25.
Well, as I say, I am not a physicist so I'd be happy to be corrected by whoever actually knows the maths of this, however ....
I think you are spot on ET. The neck/body/bridge needs to be significantly more massive and rigid than the string. Otherwise, as you say, energy is drawn out of the string and lost to vibrate the former. If you are unluck enough to have a resonance in the neck that is equal in pitch to the fretted note, then significant energy is lost in the string as it more readily transfers energy to the neck. You get a dead spot.
