1.
I'm no techie type and this is just an educated guess but could the fact that the combos have the amp positioned down the back of the combo mean that the working gubbins (see not a techie ) of the amp are 'fairly' close to the driver magnet which being Neo magnets has a stronger magnetic field than traditional magnets, leading to increased hiss... the cabs/amps wouldn't have this issue as they are no where near as close! Just punting it out there as a suggestion.
Good theory! I did read in the little manual that came with the cab that the tecamp neo speakers have really good shielding on them, stopping the field...maybe I have read it completely wrong! Maybe the problem is just the smaller combos (eg 1x12, 1x10). Edit...just realised another 2x10 is doing the same. Hmmm!
2. PS....it seems to be just the combos hissing...is it due to the small driver?
3.
You're welcome! Every now and again we get some amazing deals in and this was one of them. It is actually really enjoyable to see the response like this from true bass players. I've noticed a comment about buzzing, was this an isolated case? If anyone has any issues, again, please let me know.
Thanks for such quick and reliable service Mark; its good to see that this gear was indeed brand spanking new and pristine and still in the Tecamp boxes If you get anymore...or any other high end makes...please let us all know! Gareth
4. Its just the same, in my eyes, as Sadowsky charging £1800 for a Metro Bass. Doesn't matter what country, as lets face it, its still a more budget version. I'd love a USA Lakland, but it ain't gonna happen! I've tested a few, and I have one on order, and believe me the quality, finish, and overall feel of the Lakland Skylines is top notch indeed!
5. Any views with anyone on how the M212 will handle a Shuttle 9.0?! Im mainly going to use the LM3, but Im thinking the Shuttle 9.0 might be on the cards soon to use with my 8 ohm cabs. Im thinking that 900W into a 600W cab might be pushing it. I wont actually be turning it up full....but you know what Im getting at.
6. The 75 Reissue ...mmm! That and the 62 P Reissue are the main areas of GAS for me.
7. Ive heard the Landmark heads....really good. I still rate the Sansamp pedals highly, BDDI is perfect for punk and metal. Nice to see a good selection of amps in that photo...and some Orange
8.
any update on the hiss? mines the same. i've never had an amp or rig that hasn't had some level of hiss. but playin in my room this hiss is noticable over my playing. which is a little bit worrying..
Ah man Try it out a few times. Hiss can be really annoying. Maybe its just a small bug with these combos....ive not actually heard a Tecamp amp yet!
9.
I got my gigbag for my Puma here: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/gb/manufacturer/tecamp Covers are not listed here at the moment, but they could probably get them for you. Iain H
Thanks! Any reviews on the gear yet chaps?
10.
Dont know about Tec amp covers but got this from Maplins today £15
Thats a nice fit Good find.
11. More Oly White! I cant hack the splate on the MM....even though the bass still looks cool.
12. Evening chaps! Has anyone managed to find where we can get the Tecamp covers? They apparently can be left on the cab whilst you play. They have a front zip for the where the front grille is. I managed to get this M212 without annoying the missus too much. Once she realised I could carry it alone, and that I got it really cheap, she ‘got it’. I’m going to give mine a good test over the weekend as I’m learning some new songs for a potential band I’m joining. Hopefully it will sound as good as it looks. I checked on guitarguitar’s site, and they seem to now be selling the S/M210s off quickly as well. To be fair, one 4 ohm 2x10 would be great for a quieter band. Oh, and now just the 1x10 combos left. I checked with their manager, and they are not going to be getting any stock of Tecamp stuff again. It’s a one off, and they cannot order new stock at normal prices. So, im asking around about the covers. I first thought perhaps Tecamp were stopping production, but then I realised their site has been updated with an event today so they must still be going strong. That’s good news! After a word with another one of tecamps stockists, it seems Rosetti are not a dealer anymore, and that’s why they sold everything off cheap. Now we need a new dealer so we can buy our covers.
13.
Apologies if already been flagged up, been in NYC for a week! still all part of the basschat family service.
Its still good to know we all help each other out Its all good! A shame there isnt more Tecamp stuff for sale tbh
14. Hey Some of us have already bought some stuff, hence the lack of 12 cabs hahaah!
15. Thanks for all the positive comments guys! I was actually thinking 'which bass??' for when I go try out. Im thinking after my gig last night that the new Oly White Fender Precision with flats will sound nice, full and perfect for this kind of music. It was my first gig with flats...and I was very impressed with how clear they were. I expected flats to be a little less clear than stainless, but they were spot on. Yeah, you dont get the really bright attack, but when you have 2 guitarists with quite a bright sound, it sits nicely in the background and provides that good fat low end. I think the amp will have to be the LM3 due to space in the car....I doubt ill be able to get a cab down so Im going to ask what they have in their practice room. Im going to spend the afternoon learning some of their material now. I dont want to be too positive about it, as I might not be right for them as yet, but its definitely the kinda stuff I enjoy playing and also find a breeze to play, so I can add some little bass runs in the right places. I will keep this topic updated Im more bothered about me and the new band getting on than the playing...to me its half the battle. But they seem like really decent chaps and they approached me which is a good sign. Cheers
16. I havent had chance to test my cab yet I wish I had my bloody house/flat in London NOW...I am having to around other people in the house before testing her out and making noise, (even low noise!)
17. Thanks for that link. When I ordered my JO5 which is still to come, I spoke to Dan and he has sent it with another guard in addition to the original white. Sunburst and Tort is just a classic that cannot be missed.
18. This bass will be a masterpiece once its finished! I must say, even though I didnt realise how deep the DJ/JO tone was, once I plugged one it, I loved it.
19. I think we all need one of these....do the girls come with it?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veI0XHuD7Zc...feature=related I baggsy the leggy brunette.
20. Hey guys Most of you know im relocating to London very soon. Ive had to tell the band that im leaving and I think one of them is a little miffed and thinks im making a big mistake. But...its getting a little quiet, and weve written 2 songs in 6-8 months. I just have lost heart. I didnt want to leave though....but a band from London have got in contact with me after I put an advert up. Well, a few bands did. Some of them were ok, some of them were very good. Then, jackpot...the right band, ultra pro recording, and exactly the music I'd like to play, (Alkaline Trio, Jimmy Eat World, Samiam as their influences). Then they sent the tracks....wow. Now im actually more excited than I've been in years about playing. Not only are these guys decent chaps, their music is really really good. Ultra catchy, tight, melodic, and upbeat modern punk rock...a little more on the commercial side but in a good way. I really hope it works out...Ive got a meeting with them in November and a trial. Cheers Gareth
21.
IMO maybe you should have bagged a combo and then atleast you would have the amp and a quality cabinet in one. You have alot of other gear that is similar to the cab you got, which you could've added to the combo for an even bigger rig if needed, and still be lightweight Edit: Sorry, you only have the Aguilar 212 and that isn't really lightweight. Fair play to you then my friend!
True! But I would have struggled to ever get a 2x10 Cab in 8ohms at such a low price again If that Puma 500 head came out I would have bought it straight away. Yep...its my first light cab and its pretty small considering what I was expecting. I love cabs! Next step next year is finding another nice lightweight amp....maybe a Puma 500
22. I really want a Puma 500 now. I have £0. Piss
23. Basically the 62 Reissue is God. I am jealous! Although I realise I am a lucky chap.
24. This isnt your amps fault.
25.
I was at work when the courier came so my 4x10 is next door and they've gone out for the night I did think about breaking in... :brow:
I cant wait for your face when you pick it up. Once they are out of the box...you brace yourself for a heavy weight...then it isnt there!
