Ashdown RM-112T- v Barefaced Super compact
Musicman20 replied to Kevin Dean's topic in Amps and Cabs
I prefer lbs. -
I don't play guitar, but I'm really glad their guitar models finally took off and going strong. I grew up very near the factory, and back in the late 80's and 90's you never saw anyone in the wild playing a Musicman guitar, only saw a couple of pictures in magazines.
Ohh! I bet that was tempting to have a look around. Yeah I think they wanted to go after the 80s superstrat type thing, and now with the John Petrucci connection I think they have all the modern rock/metal/prog people flocking to the signtature instruments. They do have a very varied guitar lineup and some of them are extremely tempting.

If I was them I'd be looking at Andertons and thinking 'they must be doing something right' and change the demo video format at the same time!

The GAK website and ordering system seems so out of date. I never really know what is going on so I just don't bother. Unless they've changed it the return system is even worse. I'd ask to speak to management; whoever sent that out needs to be dealt with.

I have a Dream - fantasy bass - does this exist?
Sterling HS?
THIS. Exactly. -
The shape isnt very different from a Fender Jaguar. It didnt sell well because EBMM never advertised it. I had a 5SSS last year and it was a fabulous bass, the neck was great, and the tone very much like the Bongo was awesome. I need to find one again.
I find you can go from very Fender like tones to Musicman tones and inbetween...I love it. It's been with me for about 5 years now and it's still cool to look at...a shame they didn't keep them going as it must have cost a bit in R&D to get it out. I agree though, advertising was low...barely anything. Now they seem to have changed their approach and got with the modern day with Facebook/Insta etc and getting lots of smaller artists. Their guitar sales are apparently doing VERY well.

That is awful 'luck' and I hope it's just an error they can deal with quickly. I've had past issues with them, and equally some sales were ok (Genz Benz NX212T), but overall I prefer other stores now. There is always the same old 'oh but they have low margins'....well, that isn't really the customers problem is it? (Please note - not making a whinge about the post above - just a general feeling I get from music retailers). If they really did have incredibly low margins they wouldn't be in business. There are huge margins to be made on certain products...I know I've seen some trade pricing before (obviously VAT and returns are an issue). Brexit might be affecting them, but at the end of the day most manufacturers have just had a price rise to counteract. Good old customer ay! The ones keeping the business going luck out! Hope you get it sorted dude. I use Andertons now as they are getting better for bass gear and they are trying to out-service everyone...which is good!

The Fender Twin is an incredibly LOUD amp. It is made for Fender cleans and will only break up when ABSOLUTELY pushed. Most use the 'classic' Fender amp tone for the stunning cleans (which are then much more pristine with single coils) then use a great pedal board for the effects. Any tubescreamer type drive pedal and you have brilliant tone.
....you are familiar with GAS, right? I have complete faith in Doug and the team, which is why I was happy to receive one of the first in the country. I know if it has any issues, they will be sorted.
Aye, but I realised its a vicious circle that never stops haha!

What's the rush? I always wait with new amps to see if any kinks need ironing out.
-
There is a new version coming out, so I'd wait, then pick up one/obtain one from the USA. I brought back an Xotic pedal in its box etc, and no questions were asked. In fact, Customs wasn't even staffed!

Sandbergs are lovely but are no longer in the right price range. £1900 is insane.

Great player, great tone. Rage were revolutionary but Prophets of Rage are awful. -
So tourist might be encouraged by that.. But then why would you want to visit a country that alongside the rain and wind is now viewed globally as a place that's also unwelcoming to foreigners? You should look at what the global media are saying about the UK and the people who live here, it's not looking good right now..
Exactly my thoughts...I'm here still and a female gig ticket attendant checked my ID and said it was the most Brits she had ever met over the past month. Then made jokes about 'and we thought we had it bad with Trump'. I've not bothered looking at gear here...exchange rate is too poor.
It's less expensive than before, but London remains one of the most expensive cities in the world, if you're an American tourist not from LA or new york and are not used to big prices for food, hotels, transport etc. Look at prices in London in 85, and look now. Things have gone up drastically. Their currency may be more valuable, but even with the collapsing pound it's still expensive. Although going by current predictions that will probably change as the pound continues to fall apart, so you may well be right eventually. So tourist might be encouraged by that.. But then why would you want to visit a country that alongside the rain and wind is now viewed globally as a place that's also unwelcoming to foreigners? You should look at what the global media are saying about the UK and the people who live here, it's not looking good right now..
Who cares if it's British? What exactly are we proud of? I have zero British pride apart from the fact we have a deeply bizarre sense of humour and we do have fantastic music. A lot of 'British made' gear isn't even made here! Shuker are one of the rare one offs. I'm currently in the USA and I heard one American couple (clearly affluent) explaining to their children that England was cold, dark, wet and depressing. The more I thought about it, the more I agreed 😂. They said it was super expensive, and it is.

Aguilar DB 410, 212 or 112x2 with Genz STM 900?
Musicman20 replied to countjodius's topic in Amps and Cabs
The DB212 is my favourite bass cabinet. I've tried a lot. It's glorious! -
I've recently seen a Musicman Caprice (a 4 string passive bass) for £1900. £1900!!!! I know this is insanely high as I've been following or EBMM gear for years. Initial RRP (shops can discount this) was £1650. 6 months or so back. I am well and truly out of the new bass / guitar / amp / cab game until the prices sort themselves out. I am certain most sane people will be doing the same. Brexit has ruined the market IMO.

Fender American Series being discontinued.
Musicman20 replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
Nice fret less! Chances of getting a rebate in the UK is low. -
Are they aware of the misprint on the pedal? Very Apple-looking package which is no bad thing at all.
