1. I think I put a thread up somewhere about these, and I agree the price is amazing. It makes you wonder why other cabs are SO expensive compared to them. I understand the neo situation pushes prices right up, but an extra 50%-75%?! Really? These are fantastic prices. I am tempted to get some myself.
2. Hmmm, will these actually be available? Epifani seems to be going through a strange patch at the moment. Cool idea, but where are they?!
3. I settled on Musicman 5s....17.5 mm spacing.
4. Hi all I am looking for a new band in Newcastle. Open to most ideas, especially if the band is currently ongoing. I play 4 and 5 string fretted bass, and I have plenty of gear and tone options. I can also add to backing vocals. I have too many influences to lists, but I'd love to work with an originals, function or covers bands that concentrate on the rock/pop/modern dance/punk/funk/indie genres. Again, open to ideas though. I have worked in many bands over the past 16 years, and I am willing to put the work in. Please PM for details, thanks.
5. Crazy low prices. Check the new prices here: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/GenzBenzfocus.html £385 for a lightweight 4x10?! I'd like a pair of the 1x12s.
6. TRAP!
7. Kinda glad I didnt make the massive journey down. Can't stand too much noise when it comes to shows like this. Everyone seems to want to 'out do' everyone. As much as I like my gear hunting I've found what Im after.
8. Test before doing anything else! Good luck with the replacement,
9.
Lots of Streamliner love here. Remember, one of the keys to this amp is never to be afraid to roll the lows off...
+1 Most people don't like to have 'extreme' EQ settings, but with this amp, you really can boost the mids all the way up and it still sounds 'sweet'. Stunning treble control.
10. Its a very pretty, well made, and LOUD amp. Sweet tube goodness with a lot of slam.
11. PJ5 wins.
12. I don't trust any new Ampeg amps after the amount of recent issues of limiter problems and the fact they shut down a lot! The Pro 3 wil not reach the power of the Streamliner 600, plus it's heavier, larger, and despite the fact you can crank the gain it's a poor 450 watts.
13. I would just use your Streamliner with another pedal...BDDI or VT Bass. If you want an Ampeg amp, stick with the 7 Pro....thats if you get one that works out the box.
14. I think its the same...but the winding and spec is different on the neck pups.
15. It looks very clean. Im pretty sure that the shell could have been made even smaller though!
16. Spot on NJE...I thibk that sums it up quite well. I must admit, the low B is a big part of what makes buyers want a bass. I don't want a B that sounds flat or fubby, and I don't want a B that rings out over the other strings. I want a low B to be the same as the rest of the strings...and to have balance! I think thats why Musicman basses work for me so well.
17. The Aguilar DB cabs have the best aesthetics in the business. Best thing is they sound brilliant.
18. I switch and as they are all Musicman/Fenders, it's not such a big jump. Worst part is trying to slap (I barely play any) on a fiver...but I know I just need to practice.
19.
I quite like the ML112...if the price of $650 transferred over reasonably, it would be in the mix, IMO
+1, depends on how much ther transfer over to.
20.
As you say, you want to pre-try one out and that is a good idea. What fits your fantasy and what fits you in reality may be miles apart. I really wanted one when growing up and was MAJORLY disappointed when I finally got to try them.. ALL wrong for me a 100 times over.
Exactly my experience. I tried one in Electro YEARS ago, when I was still learning the basics, and I put the bad experience down to it having an awful setup and being second hand. About a year ago, I tried a new one. Still didn't like it. The pups, to me, seemed very bland and the neck just didn't work with my hands. They look superb, but the quality issues and the neck put me way off. If I find one I like, I'll buy it, purely because it looks cool...(and that makes me an idiot haha).
21.
I have tried the SVT-7 pro, but not through a good cab. I think all round in terms of features the ampeg is a better piece of kit, the better DI alone decides it for me. In terms of sound, both have hugely useable sounds, and do the same thing, although the Ampeg will do a lot more as the controls arn't limited.
Agreed the Ampeg is more flexible, but I'd take the Orange for the price and the sheer brute force. As much as the occasional person has a problem with Bass Terror, the Pro 7 is notorious for cutting out and it's already had three revisions. I don't trust Ampeg one bit. The recent BGM magazine tested it at well below the 1000 watts. Not that I need 1000w.
22. Beautiful. Probably the best Shuker I've seen.
23.
Welcome to pop in for a cuppa - if you can live with the danger
Thanks! Very good of you.
24. The retail dropped just after I sold mine to get an RH750...its a shame but the amp world is kinda like the mobile phone world.
25. Hmm...Im in Newcastle this weekend and moving up there in 3-4 weeks. This could be dangerous.
