Thought of a way of saying it: Unless you are clipping the power amp, which will probably be a horrible ripping/shrieking noise, it isn't the lack of power you don't like, it is the voicing and colour.
An excellent summary. I've not heard, as yet, of anyone clipping the amp even at full tilt. -
Dancing singing and playing can all be done with practice!

Bruno Mars is. IMO, brilliant. A real talent and a good showman. Pop is actually alright nowadays. I regularly listen and play along to Bruno's album. His bassist is great. You can tell when the band plays live and they nail it.

The DI on the Genz amps, and the TC amps, are very very high quality.
MM20, have you considered going into reviewing bass gear?
I'd love to. I'm far from being a pro-bassist, (although Im very happy with my playing) but I'm pretty sure I'm clued up on equipment. I'd still love a Lakland bass as well, depsite moaning about the pup/bridge alignment. Wish I'd bought one before they changed ownership.

Haha
That was here...
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/lakland-55-02-string-alignment-851127/

Apparently Markbass are discontinuing the F1 and F500! Crazy.

That is true Dave. Hopefully that has been ironed out now.

There was a very recent thread on Talkbass...I'll try find it.
If I were in the market..and I've seen some stunning pics, then I would complete the build with less plastic cavity covers on the back.
This is what we have agreed on before. Its a minor thing, but the back panel really doesn't seem to 'match' the rest of the quality or the price. Just seems like a huge area they could have covered with a nicer piece of plastic or even had Sadowsky engraved onto it....see I am picky, but at that price you have to be. On the back of my Musicman basses, the basses that have a back panel have a nice quality textured plastic and it blends into it a little better.
Hmm interesting. Hmmm. Interesting. The RH450 has definately been on my radar. Just not sure that I'd like the rather compressed tones that the RH series seem to produce (according to popular www gossip). WOuld like to try one if possible though. Oh, I forgot to mention, that I tried an Ashdown Spyder 550, and was thoroughly unimpressed at it's EQ inflexibility. The ABM's, on paper, have a LOT more flexibility.
If you want a rock n roll tone, normally this is due to the age old 'tube amps being pushed' which is exactly what the TC RH amps is all about. Basically, they are emulating an Ampeg SVT when its being pushed....but it can be clean or dirty.
Same here, but a 4 banger. Been wanting an all white DJ4 for a while... Wonder if they've fixed the QC issues (string to p'up alignment) that seemed a problem with the older ones?
There was a huge thread on talkbass about a pretty recent Lakland bass, and then more came out of the woodwork, which meant what I found wasn't me being mental. The bass pictures in question all had misaligned bridges/pups and some of the B/G strings were almost hanging off the board because of it.
I've tried one last weekend and came out of the store with the Neo 110 i've tried it with and am now putting both my Rumble cabs for sale to go and get the Reidmar and probably a Neo 112... It really sounds good and loud. Those 250W are not "digital watts", it held its ground AB'd with my shuttle 9.0. I still don't know wich head i'll end up with because i really like the clarity of the GB and i always am a bit sceptical about chinese made stuff (reidmar says made in china...) but i'll need to use both heads live to see wich suits me best.
Don't worry about where an amp like this is made, as long as it has been inspected and checked properly. For the price, its good value. FYI - the Genz amps are made in their factory in Taiwan and inspected in the USA. I've never heard many issues with the Streamliner/Shuttle amps which is a good sign.

Stunning prices on Genz Benz Focus LT cabs
Musicman20 replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
These appear to be made in their factory overseas then checked over and inspected at Genz USA. For the price, something had to give, and I bet they are excellent quality. -
I'll be moving there soon, but also looking for a band. If you get gigging let me know i'll come take a look!
I'm starting to wonder if we have different definitions of "low-mid kick" here
Plus 1. In comparison to the Streamliner 900, the RH750 does NOT have the absolutely HUGE low end. When I say low end, I mean actual bass. Some Streamliner owners say the low end is juist too much, but its a unique product. The RH450/Classic/RH750 definitely, to my ears, have that kick in the low mids region for a punchy rock tone. Even with a scooped Jazz with both pups on full, the mids still ring through. The RS cabs themselves also have a small low mid bump. Together, you get a more 'sealed 8x10' low mid kick and less of the real low frequencies, (which some like, some don't). -
I always liked that model. Glad it is back.
+1 great bass design. I want the White/Maple 5er.
The argument about making their own pickups etc doesn't matter to me, nor where it's made. Only the end result is important to me. That's why we all need to play a bass to be able to tell whether it works for us, just knowing about its components isn't enough.
Agreed, and its all down to personal taste. Personally, I love the Musicman H tone...and I always have since I started bass. It was always, in my head, P, J or Ray, and the Ray for me just edged it a little. I can definitely see a Sadowsky in my future as Roger has a very good eye for design and quality, there is no doubt about that. I just think we get stung quite heavily in the UK. I would also prefer Bass Direct to be the main dealer over GuitarGuitar, because Mark would make sure they are all setup perfect and looked after at the shop.
I've no idea how you can justify that statement with the quality issues - well documented here - that you've had with Musicman. Find one thread about metros with 10% of the issues you had with your Stingray.
The main Stingray problem I had was, after some investigating, nothing to do with how it was originally made. It was 'modded' shall we say, when it arrived in the UK. The Metro's are often £600-£800 more than a normal Stingray H or HH. I would expect it to literally be mind blowing for that price. When i discuss quality, it is something I am quite a perfectionist with. Simple workmanship or innovations, like how flush the battery compartment is with the body, and what material/how flush the electronics rear cover is. Neckplate details, quality of wood for the fingerboard/neck etc, are all very important. The reason I side with Musicman is because they make virtually everything themselves, in their own USA factory. Little upgrades like the Truss Rod Wheel, the excellent heavy duty bridge and their own pups. As much as I have final build issues in the huge Stingray thread from the past, when I received one that was straight from the factory (and was actually the one I ordered, and not a bodge) it was stunning quality. Everything screamed 'this is worth the money'. I have 5 Musicman basses, and they are all excellent and well built in their own way. To be honest, everything over £800-900 SHOULD be excellent in terms of build etc.
