1. Great review. Has anyone noticed the prices are £666 everywhere! Apart from being the number of the beast, that is seriously good price.
2. I still want one. Been looking for over a year now. Tempted to order a Tangerine Pearl with White Pearl Guard in HH....as they now have lightweight tuners on the new builds.
3. They are on sale now though, aren't they? I'd just email Larry Hartke.
4.
Im surprised at the details being brought up here! Type of plastic used for the back plate?? who cares? who ever see's this part when you're playing anyway?
I've seen the pics of your PJ Chris and its a beauty. Like I said, quality and style are fantastic, tone is obviously subjective, but little things like the back compartment do catch my eye when its a bass over £1600. Silly I know!
5. If I get a DB112 I can run it with the DB212 for 3x12s!
6. Still love mine, and the cabs are absolutely brilliant.
7. Hi Do you have any pics? I bought one of these and sent it back as when I opened it Markbass had packed it in a way that meant the plug had scratched a chunk of paint off it. I'd still like one so im on the lookout.
8.
Thought of a way of saying it: Unless you are clipping the power amp, which will probably be a horrible ripping/shrieking noise, it isn't the lack of power you don't like, it is the voicing and colour.
An excellent summary. I've not heard, as yet, of anyone clipping the amp even at full tilt.
9. Dancing singing and playing can all be done with practice!
10. Bruno Mars is. IMO, brilliant. A real talent and a good showman. Pop is actually alright nowadays. I regularly listen and play along to Bruno's album. His bassist is great. You can tell when the band plays live and they nail it.
11. The DI on the Genz amps, and the TC amps, are very very high quality.
12. The HS Rays are brilliant.
13.
MM20, have you considered going into reviewing bass gear?
I'd love to. I'm far from being a pro-bassist, (although Im very happy with my playing) but I'm pretty sure I'm clued up on equipment. I'd still love a Lakland bass as well, depsite moaning about the pup/bridge alignment. Wish I'd bought one before they changed ownership.
14.
That was here...
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/lakland-55-02-string-alignment-851127/
15. Apparently Markbass are discontinuing the F1 and F500! Crazy.
16. That is true Dave. Hopefully that has been ironed out now.
17. There was a very recent thread on Talkbass...I'll try find it.
18. Er....wow! Very tempted! Is it a real flame top?! For that price, it would be crazy if it was.
19.
If I were in the market..and I've seen some stunning pics, then I would complete the build with less plastic cavity covers on the back.
This is what we have agreed on before. Its a minor thing, but the back panel really doesn't seem to 'match' the rest of the quality or the price. Just seems like a huge area they could have covered with a nicer piece of plastic or even had Sadowsky engraved onto it....see I am picky, but at that price you have to be. On the back of my Musicman basses, the basses that have a back panel have a nice quality textured plastic and it blends into it a little better.
20.
Hmm interesting. Hmmm. Interesting. The RH450 has definately been on my radar. Just not sure that I'd like the rather compressed tones that the RH series seem to produce (according to popular www gossip). WOuld like to try one if possible though. Oh, I forgot to mention, that I tried an Ashdown Spyder 550, and was thoroughly unimpressed at it's EQ inflexibility. The ABM's, on paper, have a LOT more flexibility.
If you want a rock n roll tone, normally this is due to the age old 'tube amps being pushed' which is exactly what the TC RH amps is all about. Basically, they are emulating an Ampeg SVT when its being pushed....but it can be clean or dirty.
21.
Same here, but a 4 banger. Been wanting an all white DJ4 for a while... Wonder if they've fixed the QC issues (string to p'up alignment) that seemed a problem with the older ones?
There was a huge thread on talkbass about a pretty recent Lakland bass, and then more came out of the woodwork, which meant what I found wasn't me being mental. The bass pictures in question all had misaligned bridges/pups and some of the B/G strings were almost hanging off the board because of it.
22.
I've tried one last weekend and came out of the store with the Neo 110 i've tried it with and am now putting both my Rumble cabs for sale to go and get the Reidmar and probably a Neo 112... It really sounds good and loud. Those 250W are not "digital watts", it held its ground AB'd with my shuttle 9.0. I still don't know wich head i'll end up with because i really like the clarity of the GB and i always am a bit sceptical about chinese made stuff (reidmar says made in china...) but i'll need to use both heads live to see wich suits me best.
Don't worry about where an amp like this is made, as long as it has been inspected and checked properly. For the price, its good value. FYI - the Genz amps are made in their factory in Taiwan and inspected in the USA. I've never heard many issues with the Streamliner/Shuttle amps which is a good sign.
23. These appear to be made in their factory overseas then checked over and inspected at Genz USA. For the price, something had to give, and I bet they are excellent quality.
24. I had a guitar with a licensed Floyd Rose back in the day, (some sort of cheaper Jackson). Super thin neck, very easy to play, but I hated the Floyd Rose and I hated the shape/headstock. I still hate Floyd Rose trems.
