1. Fine looking bass and good spec. Where did the pots etc. come from, is the cavity shielded at all and how much does the bass weigh? Sound clips would help your cause too, I'd say, being a custom instrument and all. Good luck with the sale.
2. Welcome, enjoy BC and glad to hear those fine instruments are seeing daylight and action!
3. What a beautiful instrument; good luck with the sale.
4. +1 comments above, this is extremely poor business. Mr Woods (made-up name for a luthier?) has just posted this update: Bulletin 8-18-09 I'll be updating my NEWS section with the next couple days. A lot of new shipments, And a lot of orders moving into shipping status. Also we are now able to do custom vinyl logos in-house. All of the neck orders with logos are getting that treatment this week and next week and will be shipping soon. Lots more to cover and I'll try to get the NEWS updated tomorrow night.
5.
I think he means it's too wide for the slot (so it won't slot in)
Spot on Wayne - the nut is a fair bit wider than the slot in the neck and, even if I filed down the sides of the nut, the E and G strings would be very close to the edge of the neck. It's a standard 1.5'' measurement. First time I've done this so I'm probably being dense...
6. Hi there The nut on my Jap 75RI Jazz needed replacing so I bought a new Tusq nut, like this one: http://www.wdmusic.com/tusq_fender_jazz_ba...pq-1214-00.html However, it's too wide - by quite a distance: so I think I need to send the nut back and get another. I guess this is down to the quirks of reissue models; does anyone know where I can find a suitable replacement? Cheers Doug

8.
Dunno how I missed this when it was listed at £4000 - that's comedy genius!
Quite, at least one too many zeros - quite a surreal ad, just like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...5#ht_500wt_1182

15.
Thanks again everyone, I'm pleased to report that I managed to get in touch with Maria last night and have just sent her a link to this thread along with Nick's log in details. It's been a nightmare for her and I'm sure she will be extremely appreciative of your kind words. Maria says that Nick's basketball game was at 5pm on June 9th so, given he last logged in at 4:23pm, catching up with Basschat was indeed one of the last things he ever did. Here's some pics from when Ari and I were at Nick's place in Pimlico a few years ago. Ari is playing Nick's Alembic Series II 5 string.
Great work in contacting Maria and digging out the photos, Steve, much appreciated.
16. Very nice - congrats!
17.
I remember taking him to that national bass bash Mike mentioned. We were laughing so much on the way there that I had to be extra careful driving. Ironically we did say farewell to one another recently, pending my departure to NZ but noone could have known it would be forever.
Guys, just logged in after some time away and I am genuinely saddened and shocked to read this awful news. I travelled to and from the aforementioned Bass Bash with Nick and Steve. Nick seemed a really decent, genuine chap; hell, he'd even seen Bad Wizard live. Rest in peace.
18. Someone buy the lot quick for Doctor of the Bass...
19. Sunday 24 May @ Hope & Anchor, Islington Wednesday 24 June @ Marie Lloyd Bar, Hackney Empire Saturday 4 July @ the Crypt, Camberwell See www.myspace.com/sibillaband for full details - cheers!
20. Glad you liked the tunes, Huwberry - know what you mean re: W & B Flower; it's a big number and there's quite a lot going on at the end (though maybe the MySpace player isn't doing the mix any favours). Glad you enjoyed Floating Thoughts, you're ready for the 6+ minute epic that is November now JmStone, the page is rather image heavy so I'll try and sort that out - thanks for the feedback.
21.
f***in lethal if Im driving then....
+1 on the sleep mask mentioned earlier (best taken off when driving) and how about some good earplugs.
22. Nice - I'll keep an eye out for a London date as you boys sound, um, fantastic.
