1. Nice. I used to have one just the same. Interesting tone options. You need a good strap too as they're heavy blighters.
2. Beedster's just got a '69 Jazz so may be along shortly... not sure if he needs a ferret though.
3.
Hi, I put my (active) bass through the mic input of an Alesis Mulltimix 8 USB into GB and get great results, the multimix only cost me £45 on Gumtree, use whatever gets you a great sound. Good luck
Cheers for the tip, Brummie.
4. Here's a new version with roundwounds on the Jazz and a bit of reverb (but still no proper interface yet ). What do you reckon?
5. +1 on the nice comments above - sounds great!
6. Yes, this is fine stuff. Nice to see a band (and the audience) loving their music too.
7. Thanks for the feedback, chaps, much appreciated. Stingrayfan, that sounds excellent. What interface do you use, out of interest? Do you apply compression in GB itself, or beforehand via a pedal in chain? I used to own a BB414: really fast neck on those basses - I even got close to nailing Rhythm Stick! Good point re: strings too - I used some old flats on my recording and they obviously don't jump out of the mix. I'm going to stick some nickel rounds on and compare.
8.
I like it. Sounds pretty good to me.
Thanks mate. I realised afterwards that I recorded the bass in mono - I'm guessing stereo recording, then placing the bass left or right in the mix would be best, right?
9. Ok, here's my first ever effort at recording bass, adding a simple part to an old piano/vocals demo, and using GarageBand. I went Jazz-preamp-Mac (I need to get a proper interface, I know!) so apologies for the sound quality. Any comments and tips welcome.
10. Just found this - wonderful stuff! Congrats to all involved. Any London gigs planned in the near future?
11. That's excellent; the upright sound really works. Out of interest, whereabouts was the rural studio? I'm looking for places at the moment.
12. Nice one, Tom, you definitely rocked out there.
13. Just sold an EBS pedal to Rich: absolutely first class transaction. Fast payment, clear communication - top chap!

16.
Cheers everyone (and sorry I missed some above - my typing is soooooooo slow), TBH just typing out my options got me thinking about them. I think I might book a few lessons (I know it's not fashionable but I've always wanted to slap and learning to read properly would be good too) I've got a few people I can jam / write / record with. Including another ex-guitarist who writes some seriously nice pop songs. He's an ex-pro who still has a publishing deal so who knows? Give it a few months and then I'll be looking for a new band. Thanks for listening and all your thoughts.
Sounds sensible. After a similar band implosion last year, I took a break for two months then started browsing band adverts, before joining my current outfit. Keeping your hand in by jamming and having lessons great idea too.
17.
Bump for Xmas bonuses...
Wishful thinking down my way! Beautiful bass - good luck for a swift sale
18. Oh, yes - you are a man of discernment. Two beauties
19. Hi Gordon and welcome
20. Oh yes - lovely (and just like my old T-40).
21. Hi Pookus Check out the Bass Tutors section on here, might be someone local to you. Welcome
22. Welcome, Jon. I'd check out Yamaha and Ibanez basses too - great value.
