1.
but hey, they make a sound I like , that'll do.
Yup. Looks like good honest fun to me. I'm not worried if they sound like someone else. Great guitar sound.
2. He got round the headstock copyright, but then tried to sell it on eBay. Ric saw it, decided it was close enough for them to chuck their toys out of the pram, and made eBay take it down. Good looking bass though.
3.
That's what I enjoy about watching players of either sex. I really like Miki Santamarias' playing, good to listen to & easy to watch on the other hand Anna Sentina sounds great but I find it off putting watching her.
I was watching a couple of Miki videos earlier, he's great to watch and sooooo many basses! Anna on the other hand, well I don't how she manages to play anything with those nails, good effort missy :-)
4.
Point of order, Kate Bush is certainly NOT a genius!
In your opinion.
5. Isn't it supposed to be cheesy and naff? Tick and, err, tick. The primary reason it won't stand a snowball-in-hells is that it's the UK entry.
6. I believe that 'phwoarrrr' would be an appropriate noise to make at this point. Yum.
7. Bought a box of misc leads from Dunc and they arrived today. A great chap to deal with, friendly and prompt messaging kept me up to date. A very pleasant transaction. I would happily deal with Dunc again.
8.
Well, happy new deko bass day to me! Couldn't be happier!
Awesome - happy NBD mate! If you are quick enough to get an acoustic they are well worth the money.
9.
...when I'm playing it I can't stop grinning.
That's exactly the effect it had on me. Thanks for your comments folks, liking the swear-filter comedy. Sw***y lol Spector basses make my knees go funny... just too gorgeous. edit: @ discreet - Visited the HOTD website this afternoon, very cool mate
10. New Bass Day - Yamaha BB424X in Vintage White I've been suffering from the bb-gas for a while now, and this morning I appear to have 'taken my medicine', so to speak. The arrival of this particularly lovely BB424X in Vintage White has fixed the bb-gas (for now...), so that just leaves the P-gas, the J-gas, the headless-gas and of course, the raging Spector-gas... This fine bass came courtesy of bc member briansbrew, who could not have been more helpful and pleasant throughout the whole process. Thanks for a lovely bass Brian, it really is a corker, I can't find a mark on it anywhere. The bass tips the scale at approx 4.3Kg (9.5lbs) and balances well on the strap. I think this morning I have learnt the meaning of the phrase, 'it plays like butter' - effortless would be an apt word. I struggle to understand quite how Yamaha manage to make these for the money, the fit and finish is excellent, there are no sharp edges or fret ends, the pots and tuners have a lovely solid feel to them and the whole thing feels...finished if you know what I mean. Here she is then, apparently photographed using a potato... My self-imposed one-in, one-out policy means my RBX374 will be appearing soon, in a for-sale page near you. Having played this for an hour or so today, I can't see me missing it too much. The RBX is a nice bass, but this BB is something else. Happy. Bunny.
11.
Grrrrr, so frustrating. New deco jazz just sitting doing nothing in Cologne since 3.00am friday morning. Those who have purchased from Thomann, how long does it usually take? I am sure I am just being impatient but I am itching to see whether my particular deco is a good one or not!
Mine took a while to arrive, probably a week door-to-door. The tracking was good though, and actually gave useful updates.
12. I bought Brians BB424X. An absolutely super chap to deal with, don't be put off by the fact there may be water twixt you and he, it won't be a problem. We had a nice chat on the phone, Brian sent update messages quickly (via text and pm) and the whole deal was a breeze. I sent Brian this pm this morning and it sums up the whole experience: Brian, It's beautiful. It plays sooooo nicely. It sounds growly. I am smiling from ear to there (!) It was packed to survive a nuclear war and arrived in perfect condition. You are a superstar, thank you so much. with kindest regards, Ade
13. Blimey I've just bought one, but even I want it! What a a super looking bass, it definitely won't be here long at this price. I'd say glws, but you don't need it :-)
14. I've just nipped in for another look. It's still bloody gorgeous.
15. What a tasty thing, lovely colour combo, it's no wonder you're a happy bunny. Happy NBD bud.
16.
Oh dear. I appear to have just bought that. How did that happen!!
I just love this thread. Every time I come in here, someone else has bought a bass 'accidentally' and that makes me smile. Enjoy your new cheapie bass mate, I bought one of the deko acoustics and I love it.
17.
I'm sick. I'm unwell and hopelessly addicted. Only a lottery win can save me. No rehab on the planet can fix me. I need basses. Lots of them. Now.
I do believe you may be beyond help. I can see a time in your future where you are found under a mound of basses, giggling like an excited child. Bring on the shopping!
18.
Holy crapola!
I think that about sums it up! Beautiful.
19. That's a mean-lookin' bass mate, love it :-)
20.
I'd also have absolutely no problem getting any old and shabby looking instrument refinished if everything else about it was what I wanted.
Un-relicing - there's a whole new can of worms! Imagine the uproar :-)
21. I've never really felt the Oasis love, although they have done some good (classic?) stuff, I thought the majority of it was very samey and I can't stand Liam. Noel comes across as so much less of a twat than his brother - I bet Liam has a big pedestal in his hallway that he stands on all day, just so he can lord it over everyone. Noel was on R2 a few weeks back and to be fair, he managed to be entertaining without being nobby. Opinionated, of course, but with the bs turned off, presumably for the benefit of the Radio 2 audience. He just can't resist having a pop though, can he? Very tedious. Quite like the Kaiser Chefs though Employment is my only purchase to date. They seem like a band that can have a laugh, and I like that. Never got that from Oasis, like never.
22. Lucky lucky - you got there before me! Well done bud, it looks like a nice one.
