    A Lute! 😊
  2. You're welcome! 😊 It was Basschat the introduced it to me some years ago... the circle is complete.😂
  3. Another 'not a fan' of bass solos. But if it's an integral part of a song I'm good with that. I see Manring's 'The Enormous Room' has already been posted, which is beautiful, so I'll go with this one... solo is from about 3.40, but it only works for me in the context of the whole tune.
  4. Beautiful! If it was one year earlier I'd be compelled to hate you. 😂 That mess around the bridge with the ashtray removed is wonderful, it looks amazing. I bet you can't put it down!
  5. Caught the Cure in Hyde Park on Saturday. I'm not what you'd class as a fan, but the tickets came up on the Intranet noticeboard at work, and I realised that I'd never heard a song of theirs that I didn't like so I want for it. They were really good, they generated a wonderful atmosphere, the sound was great and the stage set spectacular. Comedy highlight of the day was down on the little bandstand stage, where I witnessed the worst band I've ever seen in 46 years (and I've seen, and loved, some awful bands). Kaelan Mikla, an all girl, post punk, synth pop type trio. People seemed to love them, but they were hilarious.
  6. I lover it when Imagined Village go to town on a trad number...
  7. This past couple of weeks have been a revelation for me. My Elwood L5, from my oppressively hot flat, to the oven-like car, then an air conditioned practice room and back again.... And My Jake 5, from my partners', slightly less oppressively hot house, into an oven-like car, then into an air conditioned practice room.... both barely out of tune! Even my super cheap HB fretless 5 has barely moved. Looks like I got lucky.
  8. The problem I have with podcasts is getting time to listen to them, so I don't usually bother. I had a lazy couple of hours today and I thought I should bother... so I did. It works for me! The history bit was nothing new to me but would be valuable to others, the Chowny interview was insightful, both from technical points and a real eye opener as to how much work goes in to getting things off the ground, plus how the right connections at the right time can make or break. I loved the blind test, a great idea... although I had a sneaking suspicion that it was going to be what it was. It was pretty comprehensive and clearly presented in terms of the adjustments being made. It's a potential winner. Congratulations to all involved.
  9. Nooooooo! Did someone mention metronomes or groove again. Tool!
  10. I'm not sure there are too many pickups that are an actual upgrade from the G&Ls, they're unique, versatile and pretty awesome. If it's just noise I'd get the wiring/pots refreshed, which won't cost much. If it's more than that, and you've just got to change, I'd sell it to someone who wants a G&L for what it does, and buy something else.
  11. My quiet Sunday morning with coffee and the Mrs soundtrack is Mvnners at the minute, mostly the Camden album. I'm not sure what I love about it,only that I love something about it.
  12. I know it's a different thing, and I'm always up for proper medicine where it's available, but my Brother was completely messed up with a weird form of tendonitis in his hands due to his job, and an old Indian guy at work recommended a paste of Tumeric and water daily (utterly disgusting), and it worked brilliantly for him in relieving the swelling and soreness. Also, My Mum (not a bass player), has badly messed up hands with Arthritis. For years she's been taking Glucosamine after a recommendation from a fellow sufferer. While her hands look really messed up, she suffers hardly any pain and her mobility is excellent despite their appearance. I hope you find something that works for you.
  13. Great idea... I'm in! Can I request that any surplus is put towards breaking the futhermuckers kneecaps?
  14. The Delanos are my favourite pickups I've ever had. My Elwood L5 has the Haussels (J and Humbucker) through a preamp and sounds great, my Jake 5+ is passive with Delanos (P and Humbucker) and it blows it away in terms of output tone and versatility... it's just something else. If it didn't require re-routing the L5 would have had the Delanos stuck in ages ago.
  15. Like Cato, and coming of age in the 80s I remembered Chicago for soppy, overblown, over produced AOR dreck... which to be fair was no worse than their peers at the time. So I had to get on Spotify to find out what these BC lunatics were going on about. It's pretty tidy, totally not what I expected. More like Tower of Power than 80s hair rock. I'm liking this a lot... thanks!
  16. I wish someone would hurry up and get this off the board... just the look of it makes me love my Elwood L5 less.
  17. Just the crowd loving it. That's all for me. Dancing or transfixed.... I don't care, people love music in different ways. 1000 people or 10.... I don't care, we're playing for those that are there, not for those that aren't. (All the band mood stuff is a given at this point, If we're not on the ball, the above can't happen)
  18. I'd have to have a 'Wrongo' decal made for that!😊
  19. 34 at the moment. I did have a 35 inch Skyline 55-01, but realised it was about more than scale length when I got my first Maruszcyck. The Lakland went when the 2nd Maruszcyck came.
  20. The B3 is built for idiots... so it's great for me. I have a patch set for each tune and treat it like 3 pedals for each. I have the Zoom expression pedal and find it a really useful addition. Some patches I just use it as a volume pedal, which is useful enough in itself, I also use it assigned to pitch shift. My favourite though, in a one guitar band is to assign it to gain on the Sansamp sim. I have the sim set for the bulk of the tune but then use the pedal to slide in a little more grunt when the guitard isn't filling out the song so much in solo passages.
  21. I bought a pair of PA tops from Happy Jack. Predictably a delightfully smooth friendly experience. Cheers Fella!
  22. I bought a Steinberg UR12, which came bundled with Cubase AI. It'll take instruments or mics, the version of Cubase came with enough VSTs for my purposes (I mostly only use drums and piano anyway). It's an absolute doddle to use. Everytime I open it there's a screen that pops up offering and upgrade for 49 Euros, basically more of everything, but I honestly don't see the need at the moment for my purposes.
  23. They were really good, they were just a fish out of water in that situation. It was hard to feel sorry for them though... I knew (roughly) how much money they were making!
  24. My Jake! I kinda bought is as backup for my Elwood L5, figuring that a J type and a P type would cover everything. Wrong, the P type has everything covered by itself. The Elwood is lighter, a pleasure to play and weighs nothing. It has a lovely range of tones from the preamp, but for all its simplicity the passive Jake blows it away. I had them wire it volume, pan and tone as that's what I prefer, and it's just perfect. The output from those Delanos is monstrous too. Occasionally, usually in practice, I miss the 24 frets and easy top end access of it's brother, but it's always my first choice.
