2. It depends on the actual construction as to whether the single-cut performs any tonal or structural improvements. There are many basses with said feature that only offer something different to look at - and that's fine, because we all like different things. However, if you base your purchase solely on the chance that it will sound better, well, changing pickup type makes a much larger difference to an instrument tone. You can work in certain 'comforts' afforded by the extra wood though. The back of my 'upper horn' on my Shuker 7 string custom bass is designed to sit very comfortably against my upper body. Strangely comforting actually. The heel of my bass starts after the 23rd fret. It has no heel. The upper horn provides extra structural support along with the two bi-directional truss rods and 4 specially placed rod inserts. The body sculpting throughout is tailored to take the fatigue out of long performances and what is a lower upper horn seems to help there too. Oh and it's a total beast! Be different, be daring, try something new!
3. Come get your lovely christmas bargains!
4. Thank you for the check - yes, the demo is actually on YouTube as well, though better off checking out the magazine review for the original video. As I understand it, you'll get a gnats more out of a pair of BB2 verses the Big Twin II. I think this has something to do with additional porting in comparison to the single cabinet, but Alex will be able to answer this better. I really want to hear what two big twins sound like in my stereo set up!! - I'm saving up!
5.
You cannot copyright a schematic, only layout of the PCB. I could release a B3K 100% schem clone tomorrow and I would have no legal questions to answer if I'd redesigned the PCB layout. Si
That's what I thought! Thanks Si!
6. Slightly off-topic, but related - how does British law stand with regard to "electronic circuits and copyright"?
7.
If you play a five string then the Big Twin 2 is the absolute bomb, its not tuned loud in the lows, it just goes waaaay deeper without any eq at all than the S12T. My Roscoe's Low B sounds incredible through my BT2
Similarly, my Dingwalls sound superb through the BT2 - especially when drop tuning. Now, my Shuker 7... that's cause for terror from the neighbours F# on a .183 gauge string!
8. Just bumping this one then!
9. YouTube.... Such a useful website full of t. You know, I can't even be bothered to finish the sentence it depresses me so much.
10. I do a fair amount of string bending and have found that a flatter board stops full bends from chocking early - but that said, I've a 20" radius which is fine - my Fenders with a much lower radius figure choke badly, especially up the dusty end of the neck. You'll never get a minor 3rd bend out of them!!
11. The great Bassworld take over of 199..200.. oh, whenever it was...
12.
That Ed Friedland bloke? Yeah, he's great.
Ed is on BC? WOHH!!!!! heh!
13. I like that one with the hundreds of video reviews of our favourite bass gear... oh, you know, what's that guy's basschat name??
14.
cheers dood ..it's the start of my Dingwall family ...
Heh heh! That's what I like to hear!!!
15. Super nice!!!! Congrats!
16. I'm just so pleased with how the Zoom recorders pick up a stereo sound field! - With such clarity and don't distort like c@ppy 'phone microphones do. A while ago, I very carefully recorded a thunder storm and for a laugh played it back on a separates cinema system with a nice big sub. Frankly, with the volume cranked, it was lie being outside again. Very impressive in the lows and crystal clear in the highs.
17. I've owned the G-Force, G Major 2, the Mova System and now the G System! All are aw some and I agree with the comments above. Great sounding effects. The Nova System is the only one with an Analogue drive section which as has been said has a great time to it. The only thing I'd say is that the drive section (not the rest of the signal path) is tailored for guitars, therefore there is in fact a bass roll off when passing signal in to the input through the drive section on to the DSP. There is no roll off when you bypass the drive section using the Line In instead. That said, you could probably get some low end back my boosting the lows post drive section with EQ. I that said, it's a super unit.
18. Ahhh maaaaaan, I left my mobile at home. Sorry guys, I just can't play the gig!
19.
It's amazing what a ring and a bunch of flowers will get you
Pictures of the new purchase please I've recently succumbed having been sent a Combustion to review. Well, my AB1 needed a mate - and hey, food and water is over rated anyway! ha!!
20. ZOOM! Why not record the performance too in glorious HD along with superb stereo sound? I've used the Q3HD for years - the Q4 and now the Q8. Love upgrading! The Q8 for example allows you to record on stereo mics and run a stereo line in feed as well as the video stream with the option of having all five media streams separate for editing later!
21. As far as I know, the 12T has a focussed punch in the lows but the Big Twin II goes much deeper. I suspect, (though have not tried them together to confirm,) that the top end in the Big Twin will seem clearer across the width of the room due to the tweeter wave guide as opposed to the more directional tweeter of the 12T.
22. Reaper has been my goto since very early versions! I love it! - In fact, I downloaded a copy from the Cockos website to trial and by the end of the day I'd done so much with it I bought a full license then and there! Cross-Platform use and the ability to install the app on a USB stick for windows users is just crazy! I do work in Logic X now as well when work/sessions send me projects, but Reaper has always been the one I can do the fastest editing in. I think Reaper, Toontrack EZ Drummer 2 and Positive Grid BIAS (& BIAS FX) together make such an awesome set up without breaking the bank.
23. The best era for Fender P's is between '76 and '82ish - you know, when Japan were making some truly stunning law-suit instruments My favourite 4 stringer is a Fender yes, but my favourite precision bass is a law-suit. Cost very little and for a '76er, it is stunning!
24.
I wouldn't class a Pearce BC1 as "ultra modern" - you must be older than you look......
HA HA HA HA!!!!!!! - I am! Or rather, I feel like it sometimes! - I guess I meant in comparison to a vintage valve amp!
25.
There's space to fit a power amp in there and it would still be a light amp. I thought about it but after pairing it with a CA6 I had I never got any further.
I've got a QSC GXD8 (WOW!!) and that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the case you've had made. Ultra modern rig in a classic outline. How cool!
