1. Still for sale - trying to talk myself out of keeping them!
2.
Flippin' 'eck Dood, had no idea this treasure trove was sitting there! Well done. Just had a quick butchers at the Matrix GT1600FX review. Are you still liking it? It's a lot of bang-for-buck on paper. Cheers, Jon
Hey Jon! I have to add the latest issues to the pile too! Thank you very much! I love doing these reviews I think maybe this post should be somewhere more visible? Anyway, I think the Matrix is a very cool amp, however I did end up selling it when the new breed of 800W D Class heads appeared on the market. Which is hilarious as I recently bought a QSC GXD8 power amp for big gigs which I don't really need as the TC Electronic BH800, my current lightweight head is a very capable machine in itself. The thing I really like about the QSC verses the Matrix though, given they are a similar weight - is that the QSC has onboard DSP for tailoring your signal in to the cabinets of your choice.
3. I recovered a pair of old I.T related power supplies for my effects usage. Now those as you can imagine are a clean source of power. I forget exactly what item they came from, probably a gigabit switch or something. No noise, buzzes, anything!
4.
How about the rolls mini crossover? The inimitable Billy Sheehan uses one to remove the low end in one of his signal paths. It's not a pedal, so would be an always on unit.
Yes indeed that one is certainly on my radar. I even have the schematic diagram for it. I just want to find out how much gain it offers on the output, but then I thought about having a 'loop' in the box too thus saving on kit to carry around. Sure, it's only one pedal, but I like the idea of taking as few items with me as possible.
5. Or, a loop pedal that has a graphic EQ before the send of the loop. But instead of using sliders on the outside, trimpots under the cover so that the 'curve' and 'boost' is never messed with. Hmmmm... too many ideas now!
6. OR... I need a pedal like the Boss LS-2 with the ability to high-pass the signal going around the 'effects loop' AND also to boost the level going to it. I feel that I am very close to a custom pedal here, but there might just be something out there already!!
7. I've been having a bit of fun with my pedals this evening and have finally found a way of nailing a drive tone that I've been after for a while. I have all manner of effects loops everywhere that I know that I can simplify and get the results I want. However, I want to get round and downsize part of the signal path that I need to 1. Sculpt away lots of low end and also 2. boost the output by up to 15db. Yes, I am doing this with a graphic pedal currently and have tried a little Mooer micro thing which sounded not so good doing the same job. Does something like this exist? I thought I'd ask before I drop Max at SFX a message!
8.
I've had one and a fair few jazzes and it's not a jazz neck as such, more of an in between width but slimmed down front to back. Nearly as nice as a jazz but with a little bit more girth.
It'll be a 70's Fender 'A' neck which fits that description. Spot on!
Straight into the input will work just fine.
Yup, I think the effects loop is more likely to have too much signal level from the send - or to put it another way, there isn't an input gain control on the B3 sadly.
10.
I wonder if this could be made into an iOS or android app that would interface directly to an zoom unit? I'm not fussed about extra hardware based control - but the touchscreen interface looks awesome!
I believe it is possible to use IOS apps that already exist to change patches on a B3. I'll have to search out the YouTube videos that describe how to though using a MIDI interface.
11. Stunning!!!
Guy Pratt uses one
Yes! True! I remember seeing a video of a show recently where you can see the displays lit up by his feet
13. That's a Black Beauty! I've a set of Dimarzio PJ's on one of my basses too and I really like the black pole-pieces! I think this one looks great and knowing Jon Shuker's work, It is guaranteed to be a super player! Really pleased for you! Congratulations!!!
Are there any pro players who endorse this? Not that this is a guarantee of quality - just want to hear one using synth in a live situation.
Frank Bello, Victor Wootten, Dave Ellefson, Doug Wimbish. Me, lol! Well, I'm a professional bassist!
15. Actually, I spoke to Dan Gooday a couple of months ago, around the time I reviewed the RM800 head and we enjoyed a good natter especially around an area that I think the B-Social would really shine. Dan agreed, especially as it was maybe something that wasn't specifically evident. I dunno, I remember many many people saying they couldn't see the point of the iPad. I could, about 10 years before it was invented whilst I was working with some of the very early tablet PCs. True story that.
16. This is the 8 guitar version not the cheaper 6 guitar model. It will hold acoustic guitars easily too.
17. http://www.amazon.co...+stand+shadow+8 I bought one of these to hold guitars indoors temporarily and now have a better 'non-touring' stand for in the house. This is now surplus to requirements. I've owned it for about a month and it hasn't left the house. For the money, it's not bad though if you are looking to take a 'multi-stand' on tour with you, it might not be this budget version you will want. Ideal for in the house though! They are £80 on Amazon - you can come collect this little chap for £50! - It folds up neatly in to a guitar case sized box very neatly I think.
18. I am available tonight and if both cabs go together this evening I will be happy to knock off £15 to go toward petrol yup! Ping me a message and we'll go from there!
19. That's quite some work you've accomplished! Good on you! - There was me thinking how it'd be possible to simply change patches using say, a ten pedal MIDI controller? (Think Behringer, Boss, Roland etc) and you've added graphics and a screen and... very cool!
20. Always fancied hearing an HD350 through my Barefaced cab. I bet it sounds very clean indeed!
21. I'll have a think, but it might be just raw cash I'm afraid!
22. Hey everyone! Apologies for the delay in responding! Yes, they have a bump in the lows and low mids that bring out the character of the B well Hoppo! Happy to still split - There's a deal to be had there! Briz', Sorry!
23.
That's the best looking ugly bass of the thread so far!
It's great because it takes the focus away from the ugly mug holding it he he he
