How are these, other than cheap? http://www.gak.co.uk...CFSf4wgodpMkExw
For really cheap, I had a white GRGR121EX (a GIO RGR basically) and although I had to try three out, mine ended up being a super fantastic little guitar!
How big a distinction is MIJ vs MIK?
Well, the Japanese custom team are churning out some amazing guitars - but at £250 for an indonesian model, you can often end up with a great guitar for the pennies. Caveat Emptor though - as with any, try before you buy if you can. Played a £9k bass once. Very pretty but it fought me all the way back to the guitar stand lol.

Sometimes the action is a wee bit higher than I would personally like. That said, any good tech can have a set up which will make you think the guitar is worth twice as much. Even I can manage that
Those sharp edges look like they will dig in to your legs after a while if you play sitting down. Unless you are buying a top end model, you will not be getting an Ibanez made in Japan.
Gosh no - not sharp at all. I use mine all day every day for teaching and I think the last thing on my mind is sharp edges. True, they're not made in Japan, but then again, there are plenty of instruments that aren't that are really good. The Dingwall Combustion is made in China but is easily worth every penny of it's price tag.

If you can live without the term and go hardtail, I'd recommend an RG(R)421 or RG(R)321 - the (R) bit is the alternative model number for a reverse headstock which I am very partial too! I have a limited edition 321 known as a 'Ninja' and I love it! Look out for a build thread soon as I'm working on an absolute dream of mine - an Ibanez model which I don't think exists. Very excited for when that arrives!

Thank you Gary!! - Really enjoying the Combustion - There's enough differences between that and the AB1 tonally to have two, but also enough familiar between the two as not to be too alien when switching mid set. A great pair that are going to be doing a lot of work soon!

Hey everyone!! I have a pair of super little bass cabinets to sell. I bought them from a rather lovely chap here on BassChat with the idea that for now I'd have a nice compact rig for some gigs I was hoping would materialise. They didn't and these little babies haven't left the house. My Barefaced Big Twin II is just super fine for everything anyway. So, I'm offering these both up for a great price as a pair. I WILL split but only if both are paid for at the same time and collection is arranged. I've just moved house and really I am afraid I don't have time to pack and ship. Sorry about that. You can collect from me, the sooner the better. I'm based south of Norwich. £280 for the pair. These are the 8 Ohm versions. A few marks on the plastic corners but these cabinets have absolutely no rattles, buzzes or sharp noises! The whizzer cones offer up extended high range without the need for shrill tweeters and the pair together sound BIG! Together they give you a power handing of 600W RMS at 4 Ohms. Pretty idea for all the lightweight heads on the market currently!
I thought I'd posted a pic of mine! Here it is anyway!
I posted this one in the Dingwall Group on FB, but I ought to share it here too. Makes for a lovely pair!!

You know we'll need pictures right??? Congratulations! You'll love it! i do enjoy cruising the Shuker Facebook and Instagram pages. I've mentally spent thousands of pounds on my next project!!

Jon is an absolute gem in the world of luthiers. His attention to detail and sensitivity to the customer's needs is refreshing. I got my first Shuker back in 2005-ish and my two custom Shuker basses are still going strong. The necks are rock solid throughout the year, fretwork is exemplary and playability? Well Jon knows how to set up his instruments to the highest standards. My 7 string has the lowest action with no buzzes of pretty much any bass I've ever played. I asked Jon to go 'as low as you can' and boy did he deliver. I know his work is in demand so expect not to pick up your creation after a couple of weeks, but the wait is so worth it. I'm still regularly playing mine with a big smile.

I think it's worth looking at the type of prog / metal that you are interested in using said bass with! - I mean, if it's Jethro Tull type Prog then I'd go for something a little off the wall to make things sound interesting - maybe a short scale fretless - just.. because.. If we're talking mega down-tuned tech metal then a different ball park altogether. The rest of your signal chain may need some attention too. I totally second the comment about a Dingwall Combustion though and hopefully a second hand one will come close to your budget. Drop tunings, the Dingwall is superb, especially with that 37" fan fret scale on the B string. That said, my custom basses are prog machines - a 6 string and 7 string designed by myself and brought to life by the expert hands of Jon Shuker at Shuker Bass. - So there's another option for the future though not in the same budget range right now.

Dean has taken my TH500 to a new home and as others have said, a smooth transaction with great communication, couldn't ask for more! Thank you!

Which one is louder: Tecamp 500 or Aguilar Th500?
Dood replied to Radchenko's topic in Amps and Cabs
I don't think for a moment you are going to experience the TH500 any way lacking against any of the current crop of '500' D Class heads. They all have their own voice, sure - and you may like one or other better, but the TH is a serious contender. Same for the Puma I feel. -
I had a message to ask about the condition of this amplifier - I completely forgot to add some details there. Ok, so I bought it July 2014 and it is in great condition indeed. It only made it to a couple of gigs owing to the splitting up of a function band that never really gigged as much as we'd hoped. I have used it for some lessons and the odd rehearsal. You'll have heard it in my magazine reviews over at Guitar Interactive Magazine too. I genuinely love this amplifier but I've been naughty and bought other gear in the meantime which need paying for. The amp has always been bagged safely. The handle of which has become a little fluffy which is unusual considering the lack of use. Oh well. If you have any questions, please do ask and I will get back to you as soon as. The amp and bag are back in the original box sealed and ready to go to a new home.
