Recording band rehearsals with a portable recorder
Dood replied to Wilco's topic in General Discussion
I'm just so pleased with how the Zoom recorders pick up a stereo sound field! - With such clarity and don't distort like c@ppy 'phone microphones do. A while ago, I very carefully recorded a thunder storm and for a laugh played it back on a separates cinema system with a nice big sub. Frankly, with the volume cranked, it was lie being outside again. Very impressive in the lows and crystal clear in the highs. -
I've owned the G-Force, G Major 2, the Mova System and now the G System! All are aw some and I agree with the comments above. Great sounding effects. The Nova System is the only one with an Analogue drive section which as has been said has a great time to it. The only thing I'd say is that the drive section (not the rest of the signal path) is tailored for guitars, therefore there is in fact a bass roll off when passing signal in to the input through the drive section on to the DSP. There is no roll off when you bypass the drive section using the Line In instead. That said, you could probably get some low end back my boosting the lows post drive section with EQ. I that said, it's a super unit.
It's amazing what a ring and a bunch of flowers will get you
Pictures of the new purchase please I've recently succumbed having been sent a Combustion to review. Well, my AB1 needed a mate - and hey, food and water is over rated anyway! ha!!

Recording band rehearsals with a portable recorder

ZOOM! Why not record the performance too in glorious HD along with superb stereo sound? I've used the Q3HD for years - the Q4 and now the Q8. Love upgrading! The Q8 for example allows you to record on stereo mics and run a stereo line in feed as well as the video stream with the option of having all five media streams separate for editing later! -
As far as I know, the 12T has a focussed punch in the lows but the Big Twin II goes much deeper. I suspect, (though have not tried them together to confirm,) that the top end in the Big Twin will seem clearer across the width of the room due to the tweeter wave guide as opposed to the more directional tweeter of the 12T.

Reaper has been my goto since very early versions! I love it! - In fact, I downloaded a copy from the Cockos website to trial and by the end of the day I'd done so much with it I bought a full license then and there! Cross-Platform use and the ability to install the app on a USB stick for windows users is just crazy! I do work in Logic X now as well when work/sessions send me projects, but Reaper has always been the one I can do the fastest editing in. I think Reaper, Toontrack EZ Drummer 2 and Positive Grid BIAS (& BIAS FX) together make such an awesome set up without breaking the bank.

The best era for Fender P's is between '76 and '82ish - you know, when Japan were making some truly stunning law-suit instruments My favourite 4 stringer is a Fender yes, but my favourite precision bass is a law-suit. Cost very little and for a '76er, it is stunning!
There's space to fit a power amp in there and it would still be a light amp. I thought about it but after pairing it with a CA6 I had I never got any further.
I've got a QSC GXD8 (WOW!!) and that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the case you've had made. Ultra modern rig in a classic outline. How cool!
How are these, other than cheap? http://www.gak.co.uk...CFSf4wgodpMkExw
For really cheap, I had a white GRGR121EX (a GIO RGR basically) and although I had to try three out, mine ended up being a super fantastic little guitar!
How big a distinction is MIJ vs MIK?
Well, the Japanese custom team are churning out some amazing guitars - but at £250 for an indonesian model, you can often end up with a great guitar for the pennies. Caveat Emptor though - as with any, try before you buy if you can. Played a £9k bass once. Very pretty but it fought me all the way back to the guitar stand lol.

Sometimes the action is a wee bit higher than I would personally like. That said, any good tech can have a set up which will make you think the guitar is worth twice as much. Even I can manage that
Those sharp edges look like they will dig in to your legs after a while if you play sitting down. Unless you are buying a top end model, you will not be getting an Ibanez made in Japan.
Gosh no - not sharp at all. I use mine all day every day for teaching and I think the last thing on my mind is sharp edges. True, they're not made in Japan, but then again, there are plenty of instruments that aren't that are really good. The Dingwall Combustion is made in China but is easily worth every penny of it's price tag.

If you can live without the term and go hardtail, I'd recommend an RG(R)421 or RG(R)321 - the (R) bit is the alternative model number for a reverse headstock which I am very partial too! I have a limited edition 321 known as a 'Ninja' and I love it! Look out for a build thread soon as I'm working on an absolute dream of mine - an Ibanez model which I don't think exists. Very excited for when that arrives!

Thank you Gary!! - Really enjoying the Combustion - There's enough differences between that and the AB1 tonally to have two, but also enough familiar between the two as not to be too alien when switching mid set. A great pair that are going to be doing a lot of work soon!

Hey everyone!! I have a pair of super little bass cabinets to sell. I bought them from a rather lovely chap here on BassChat with the idea that for now I'd have a nice compact rig for some gigs I was hoping would materialise. They didn't and these little babies haven't left the house. My Barefaced Big Twin II is just super fine for everything anyway. So, I'm offering these both up for a great price as a pair. I WILL split but only if both are paid for at the same time and collection is arranged. I've just moved house and really I am afraid I don't have time to pack and ship. Sorry about that. You can collect from me, the sooner the better. I'm based south of Norwich. £280 for the pair. These are the 8 Ohm versions. A few marks on the plastic corners but these cabinets have absolutely no rattles, buzzes or sharp noises! The whizzer cones offer up extended high range without the need for shrill tweeters and the pair together sound BIG! Together they give you a power handing of 600W RMS at 4 Ohms. Pretty idea for all the lightweight heads on the market currently!
