  1. Billy Talbot vibes! I dig it.
  2. Friends, cool people working in local record shops that I got to know and the likes of NME and Melody Maker.
  3. Time for an ‘architraves for sale’ thread.
  4. Same issue on the Dano basses (at least on my 90s Longhorn reissue). Most strings just don’t go through the pegs.
  5. Ive not found the FSR all black PJ Mustang or the JMJ to suffer tbh. But that’s coming from the idiot that had been playing Mustangs for about 3 years before realising they were slab bodied, so maybe don’t pay too much attention to me! 🤣
  6. Kim Thayil has always been just too damn good to not be playing in projects regularly. There’s an album out too, for those not aware. So far this is the strongest track on there for me, but it all sounds pretty good to my ears to this point. Also, by way of extra info for the uninitiated, the vocalists also perform in Giants in the Trees, Novoselic’s substantive band.
  7. Should Al find his double neck with 4 and 5 string fretted necks become too unwieldy, he could always solve this quandary by…just playing a 5 string…
  8. “Reflects Gene Simmons perfectly.” Apart from the fact he’s never really been known as a T-Bird user. A Gibson Simmons sig should be a Ripper.
  9. I seem to be largely OK between shorties (which I mainly play now) and 34” scales. Don’t know if this is because I’ve fiddled about over the years with everything from tenor ukes through acoustic and electric guitars to basses (of all scales). It makes sense to me at least that may be why I don’t struggle, cuz in my mind it feels like I should…
  10. Packing into cars from a lockup space for a gig years back, we’d almost finished loading other than the guitars so I went to have a quick Jimmy, while the guitardists loaded the guitars (including my two basses in hardcases) into the car. Got to the gig, unloaded. Thought one of my cases felt incredibly light. Opened it to find it empty. My backup bass was still on a stand in the lock up.
  11. Really can’t say enough good things about it. Feels so good to play to the point I feel like I’ve had it years. It just ‘does’ bass brilliantly well across the board.
  12. Just felt the need to post a brief update on my JMJ Mustang now I’ve had it for a few months. I’m sure it’s been said many times, but my God, they got this bass so right. It really is my perfect s/s bass and now largely all I play in my band. For me it’s got future classic written all over it. I finally got around to switching the pickguard too. Also switched to black screws. Think I’ll be doing the same with the pickup screws now too.
  13. It’s a Washburn AB40 in the vid I believe. The AB10 and AB20 had a pointier and longer lower horn as per the pic above. Had a fretless AB20 back in the 90s. Lovely thing.
  14. Anything that’s only got jazz pickups. Unless it’s a fretless.
  15. Random observation, and it’s a minor inconvenience to source them of course, but I do wish manufacturers would fit black pickguard screws as standard on any black bass with a black pickguard. Looks so much better.
  16. This is a little old so may have been posted at some point. Very funny and quite accurate though!
  17. My Japanese Foto Flame Precision. Nowt else feels or sounds like it. Honourable mention to my JMJ Mustang though, as that’s my day to day go to these days.
  18. Personally I went for a power supply with individually isolated outputs, as has been suggested. Sure, it comes at an increased cost, but there’s no absolute guarantee a daisy chain or non-isolated brick won’t result in noise issues. You shouldn’t get that at all with a unit like the Pedal Power. It’s been the best of all those I’ve had and tried, in as much as you don’t know it’s there. And that’s what you want. That said, I have been surprised by the Mooer Micro Power. It’s not fully isolated, but I thought I’d give one a whirl for a compact board as I saw one used for about £35 (£65-75ish new I think) . My expectations weren’t high but in operation I’ve found it almost as quiet as the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power that’s on my main board. It’s tiny too, same size as their mini pedals.
  19. Yeah, will certainly add an additional complication in there! Best of luck though!
  20. Assuming it’s rounds you want, I’d suggest ordering a custom set from Newtone strings. You’ll also end up with the 4 strings in the set that you need, rather than an unneeded G as well.
  21. Saw them in Birmingham last month. They really are very, very good live and have been steadily (and noisily) building for a few years now. Georgia has clearly put a lot of time and effort into her sound and pedalboard. Indeed, she’s one of those secretive types it seems and the blanket over the board may be a little superfluous as the pedals are largely taped over to some degree or another anyway. Anyway, yes, they’re ace and I hope and expect them to kick on further from here.
  22. LOLs at the angry people. You’re proper hilarious. x
  23. Yep. For years was two Japanese Precisions strung B-D. Different models and finishes but only about a year apart in age. These days it’s two Mustangs. I own other basses but my two ‘main’ basses are always there or thereabouts more or less the same.
  24. Assuming they adopt the same format as previously for this tour (and nothing suggests they won’t from what I’ve seen) it’ll be two sets - first set original Primus, second set Farewell…
