  1. Based on that ‘I’m Dill Danding’ video he put out during the lockdown era, amongst other recent-ish atrocities, interesting may not be the word I’d use!
  2. Fair enough. Make sure you stand up with them for the key changes then. In all seriousness though, a lot has changed in 40/50 years in terms of what is seen as widely acceptable and what isn’t. You may not think that’s for the better, but if you’re suggesting it’s fair game to make a point of ragging out an individual audience member to thousands of social media followers with a photograph of them for the high crime of just standing there, I really can’t agree with you.
  3. Can’t speak for others but was certainly at pains to avoid just that in my initial post - “Regardless of my, or anyone else’s, view of their music”
  4. But, at the very least, not on this occasion.
  5. Totally this. I’m always told I’m a grumpy looking git, but rarely am in reality. Also have a whole bunch of health conditions which limit what I can and can’t do physically (at gigs and generally in life). Saw Melvins twice last weekend and probably looked similar to the poor lass that got castigated here, but saw two of the best gigs I have in many a year. Proper rubbish way to use your platform.
  6. Almost word for word the alternative wording I considered for my post.
  7. One half of the above band posted this on Twitter yesterday. He since deleted it and I’ve deliberately cropped out the photograph as it REALLY clearly shows the audience member. Chewed out on social media for not being entertained by and into a band’s performance, and having your likeness posted along with it? Regardless of my, or anyone else’s, view of their music, I do wonder where thin-skinned eejits like this get off posting this kind of thing. What an absolute weapon.
  8. Two - one plus backup.
  9. Still very much managing to come across as a complete douche. The drummist seems very embarrassed. Probably because he’s since realised that spitting mouthfuls of tequila back out of your gob isn’t very rock and roll either.
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions all. Gig was tonight and, having tried foams and silicone plugs, he was happy with silicone ones. Did the job rather well.
  11. I know, but he’s only 11 and really wanted to see them. He is being further educated.
  12. Melvins in Leeds on Saturday, followed by Melvins in Manchester Sunday, followed by Kiss in Birmingham tonight (the last of which was so my son could break his gig going duck at the grand age of 11).
  13. Absolutely this. And also..They are rather mainstream. And they are rather radio friendly. Christ, it’s not like they’re exactly Cannibal Corpse is it?!
  14. My main takeaway is that he’s really, really rubbish at having a hissy fit. There’s a slightly longer video than the one in the ‘article’ above where at the end of the set he dangerously slams his bass to the floor from the height of about six inches and walks off with his middle fingers raised. Edgy. (Posh English) rock musicians these days are a joke.
  15. There’s always the Stylophone…
  16. Morning all, Taking my lad (11) to see Kiss in a week or so - his first gig. Does anyone have any recommendations for ear protection for him please? Given he’s a pre-teen the more kiddie designed over the head jobs aren’t going to fly, but I’m also not sure that he wouldn’t inadvertently mess with in ear types given it’ll be a new experience wearing them. Any thoughts or experiences with this would be most appreciated.
  17. Hadn’t realised Navarro was back touring with them again. Thought he was still laid up with long COVID. Good news.
  18. I’d suggest that you don’t lack the passion as you say, otherwise you wouldn’t want to play again, if that makes sense. My advice would just be to get started again, play at home alone, then along with some records to get yourself back up to speed and a bit more comfortable, then find a suitable band/informal jam nights/whatever. It’s crazy how being ‘out there’ playing from time to time can improve your playing, outlook and confidence levels, especially if they’re relaxed informal affairs. I started playing when I was 14 and have had periods of a few years at times between bands where I’ve barely played. The above worked for me each time, though obvs YMMV. Good luck with it!
  19. Missed opportunity for the drummer as, having watched the full footage of the altercation, he should have added snare hits to each punch thrown.
  20. Shame to see there are a few comments that immediately went down a route the OP was clearly trying to avoid. Given that, maybe it’s not surprising they’ve not been forthcoming with further info. I’m sure the OP feels far more enlightened now some have suggested losing weight. Im sure that had never occurred to them before. 🙄
  21. Ned’s Atomic Dustbin at The Crossing in Brum tonight. Never been a massive fan, but two bassists so why not. Then seeing Boris (the band, not the lying philanderer) tomorrow at Settle Victoria Hall of all places. A nice band road trip with my drummist.
  22. 16 in The Wheatsheaf in Walsall. First pub I had a pint in, first pub I gigged in, first pub I pulled a pint in (not all on the same night, but in that order).
