  1. If you’re going to spend up to £150, I suggest you spend the extra fifty notes and get Logic. It’s a much better tool than GB, and the drummer possibilities are legion, including as they do Ultrabeat, drum Designer, Drummer, EXS 24. HUGE value for money, and very tweakable. Logic Drummer has just been the subject of an upgrade, and now includes percussionists. Just my two copper discs.
  2. Tasty. I loves me a Strat. Brown tort guard, mebbe?
  3. I think a second one, desirable though it is, would get me into a whole world of trouble. Basses are easier to hide..
  4. Nice. What's the nut width?
  5. I've got one of these. Great amp. Have a bump on me!
  6. I'm stunned. Steely Dan is the soundtrack to my life. Take care out there, Walter.
  7. Off topic, but all this talk of Rickie Lee Jones reminds me of seeing her perform her debut album in Edinburgh in September 1979. Reggie McBride was on bass, licking his thumb and index finger before slapping and popping like a mutha. What a band that was..
  8. In the eighties this record made me want to switch from guitar to bass. Nuff said.
  9. Well, I can hardly wait to hear about your progress with the Roland installation, and the subsequent use thereof. Good luck with it all.
  10. A five string bass lap steel! Crazy!
  11. Wire wool is really messy. It goes into tiny clogging filaments in moments. Micro mesh is the way to go. I wish i had discovered it ages ago!
  12. I just got a nice neck and Wilkinson tuners from Gary. The tuners and neck were packed very securely, and all was well. Thanks, Gary!
  13. Anybody here do laser engraving, or know of a supplier of said process? I am repairing a nice Tacoma EKK9 acoustic, kindly damaged for me by DHL (big hand for DHL!!) The headstock break is all but invisibly repaired, but the rosewood headstock veneer was destroyed. I have a new piece of rosewood, which I need to have engraved with the Tacoma logo. This is so that the logo, which is made up of tiny plastic letters, can be inlaid. See the attached images. Any thoughts, or advice re laser engraving? I have seen this done on a Telecaster clone on some American site, and it looked very good. I'm surprised it's not used more widely.
  14. Lovely job!
  15. I've got one of the Harley Benton's recommended above. Pretty good bass for the money. The nut slots needed filing down and the G string was very quiet. New string solved that problem.
  16. I've got one. I don't think it sounds at all thin used at home. In fact, I find it can sound very bassy. It might be the room you're using it in: mine sounds tighter in my living room with a concrete floor (carpets over the concrete, of course). In my man cave, with a carpeted SIPS floor it sounds a little woollier. It does sound good with the SpectraComp Toneprint, or a compressor pedal in front. Hope this helps.
  17. Would this work with a TC Electronic Toneprint amp?
  18. Thanks, Bob, for the nice BG250. You are a very nice man and a pleasure to deal with. Keep up the good work!
  19. Thanks, Jem. I would go head and cab myself, but looking for portability and ease of use mainly at the moment. I sort of fancy a Trace combo, but I think I'm WAAY too old to be lugging one of those around!
