  2. A man after my own heart. I've got an MIJ Strat from the 80's. I love it. And a Balladeer I bought in 1975, with a whole term's student grant-£150. Snapped the headstock twice. I put carbon rods in and it holds its tuning better than when new. I would LOVE one of those Ovation classical guitars, they sound so good to my tired old ears. How I envy you.
  3. Wow, that’s a nice looking example of a Tacoma. I’ve had two Tacoma guitars, and they are great. GLWTS.
  4. Old Fart Alert. Jeepers. A blast from the past. I recall going to see Fanny supporting Jethro Tull in Edinburgh. 1974 or so. Before promenading to the Usher Hall (I think), we smoked a LOT of interesting cigarettes, as was our custom. It seemed to take about FIVE DAYS to wend our way through the streets of Auld Reekie to the venue. What a night. Both bands were in their pomp, and played their hearts out. The Millington sisters had the crowd eating out of their hands. If you were there, YMMV.
  5. It looks like it should be very neck heavy, but in fact not so much. I use one of those straps with bubble wrap like material on the inside face, and I have no problems. It feels very compact, and I want to fly around on it because it's very easy to play. I went over to a five string regular scale bass, and when I go back to the Chowny it's like a jet plane.
  6. Nice! And only fifteen minutes away. Oh dear.
  7. What he said. The scarf joint is a good idea in my view. In any case the bass is built like a tank. The build quality is good, no complaints. I think the active circuit is good to have because I like to play on the back pickup, and it needs a bit of bass boost. The only complaint I have is that I would like to have a pickup pan pot. Probably easy to obtain and install but I know nothing of elecktrickery.
  8. I've for one. What would you like to know?
  9. I mentioned earlier in the thread I had a 2013 iMac. I upgraded the HDD to an SSD and the difference in performance was startling, to say the least. Well worth considering this upgrade if it's possible to carry it out.
  10. Until recently I had a 2013 iMac i5 that ran Logic just fine. Probably about £200 or so on eBay.
  11. When I was a teacher of the Alexander Technique, back in the 1980's, I worked extensively with orchestral musicians in Scotland and London. Kept quite a few of them going. I would refer to osteopaths etc when necessary. It has certainly helped me with bass and guitar playing-I don't have any of the physical complaints that many musicians suffer from, just a lack of talent. I would certainly recommend AT as a possible source of useful input for any musician.
  12. The Moula Banda Rhythm Aces! Fantastic live band!
  13. Neck heel, truss rod aperture, poorly matched "ash" body, separate fingerboard. Oh dear.
  14. I’m close by and could make use of this. Happy to make a donation to the charity of your choice.
  15. Downtown Lights, by The Blue Nile. The bass part is robotic (prolly a synth) and surprisingly hard.
  16. Love that. I’ve got the fretless version. Excellent basses. GLWTS.
  17. Don't they mean Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow?
  18. I wish I had a tenth of his energy and enthusiasm.
