Or use Tapered core...?
This is the easiest way good call. But if the op doesn't mind removing the neck the putting in a thin bit of card from a business card right in the end of the neck pocket will do it, By a surprising amount although it should not shift the neck angle too much. Filing the saddles will work but it isn't a proper fix and will look like that guy from eBay we are not allowed to me,toon has "improved" it. Don't do it. And low profile bridges I don't think there is any than what you have .
-
I know it's annoying but many basses have that issue. Now if the bridge was off then it would annoy much more. Fender are notorious for pole pieces not lining up or things being very slightly off somewhere. I've owned a few fenders now and I don't think I've had one that's been totally lined up and they were/are not the base models either. It's amazing that all basses today are not practically perfect.

Didn't read all of the posts but have you seen a good chiropractor? I've known people have scan and get diagnosed with all sorts of back, neck and nerve problems then after visiting a really good chiropractor and having manual manipulation treatment have been much better or practically cured. That includes vertigo, trapped nerves, dumbness, not being able to walk or breath right.

Nice work. The iec power connector doesn't look too bad considering I bet it's a right pain in the arse to do. Is there not a way these can be cut out with a dremel and small cutting wheel?
That's a good point - I've asked the seller but had nothing back so far so I thought I'd double up and see if anyone on here could help I was planning to ship the cover today, hence the feeling of urgency on my part - plus can't wait to get my hands on the cab and pair it up with my 1048H
I would be weary of a seller that doesn't answer a basic question.
-
Errm why don't you get the seller to measure it?

Ok a bit of an initial reaction as admittedly I've not yet used it in anger, will be doing some rehearsal hopefully Sunday. This is my first actual hybrid head and not one with just a valve thrown in to blend into an ss transistor pre. I wanted an Ampeg svt 3 pro but the prices are a bit steep, so I read this was a clone and a good one at that. It's been around since 2009 and I'm surprised there not more popular. Edit Although a clone of sorts it isn't exactly the same, the controls are laid out as the svt 3 pro they also function pretty much in the same manner and its base circuit design is in a similar(ish) vane and layout to the Ampeg it isn't an exact copy the circuits are different. It's heavy at 12.4kg. The design seems good and the materials used seem ok. Overall it seems everything is good on arrival, time will tell if there's any issues. All the controls function nicely and have a positive action. Being critical I think the pots and knobs feel cheapish but least they have a good action and the ranges seem good. Comes with a footswitch, oddly also very weighty lol. Nice to see the 4 pre valves glow through the top vent. Takes Maybe 5 or so seconds for them to warm up to produce sound, quicker than an all valve head though. And the fan is not overly noisy, my gf commented it seemed quiet. Aesthetically nice enough, based nearly exactly on the svt 3 pro layout. Looks like an amp nothing more. Tone wise it's in my opinion very nice, seems rounded, warm and well balanced. The eq works well however the mid frequency selector doesn't seem to do too much. The graphic eq is more comprehensive anyway. It has a valve drive that changes the tubes dynamics via I believe changing the voltages. This is subtle but does work. The playing dynamics are good, better than any all transistor based head I've played, not as tight sounding but not too loose, I like the way it reacts too playing. The gain is good neither sensitive or weak. The clip light works nicely, not only flashing but dimming too so giving a very slightly more accurate reference. Overdrive sounds ok a bit uninspiring maybe, but seems you can get a nice bit of od going on. Would suit someone looking for an all rounder, warm tone. Not an uninspiring amp but not much character so to say, it's not trying to push any frequencies on you it's fairly neutrally voiced. I've heard valve swapping yields fairly good but subtle improvements. Volume and heft. Well very recently I've owned a Ampeg b2r, Ashdown abm 500 evo iii an Aguilar ag500 that I've put through the same cab, bass and strings so I will compare to just them mainly. The bvp5500 is louder than any of the mentioned above seemingly, can't test its true max volume and heft yet, first impressions are very good on that front tho. It's not as loud as a 200w @ 8ohms Trace Elliot but then again to me this sounds better (Just now thinking what gives those old trace amps so much volume!) Also it seems to have more power than the svt 3 pro it's based on. Someone on talkbass did hook one of these up I believe and they do come in around about the claimed power output. Edit Concerning power after some detailed research myself the actual power rms is likely 200w 8ohm to about 350w 8ohm. Although apparently they are run slightly hotter so to say, so they may do a little bit more. I think the pre/eq valves definitely make a difference to perceived volume. Good heft but the heft to weight ratio is poor considering its weight. One good thing to mention is it's fairly quiet at idle or when turning the gain up etc, it's not silent but much less floor noise than many amps I've tried. In my view apart from the weight it could be considered a bargain and the best new amp in its price range £175 delivered in three days by Thomann. I'm really surprised by this amp and don't know why they are not more popular, too weighty maybe.
Was that her name? The girl in The Freshies' song? I never knew that.. Although I think my band mates were thinking more along the lines of Salma Hayek when they chose the name!
No it wasn't unfortunately. Apparently tho she was called Helen and signed copies in the virgin store where she worked on the tills at the time. Ten years back there was a search for her to celebrate the anniversary of virgin stores or something. I think it's a pretty cool story.
You simply can't go wrong with a Kiogon loom. I'd been playing active basses for years until I picked up a Tangelwater Classic J to tide me over when my ACG was having some work done on it. I swapped out the stock controls with one of Kiogon's wiring looms and it made such a difference it really sold me on passive basses. So much so I moved the Tangelwater on to make way for a Maruszczyk Jake, which itself is going to be moved on soon ahead of my passive Zoot custom being delivered. I play the ACG less and less these days.
That Tanglewater was sold to me and I really liked the quality of Kiogon's work. So that's why I had him make up my Jim fleeting custom loom after I taken the East uni 02 pre out, despite being able to make the loom myself. Funny I had an ACG a nice higher end custom one as well, great basses but hated the filter pre with a passion as well as the neck. Passive just is in general easier to use and much more natural sounding.
I'm not enjoying this mental image.
Well that's jazz for you* *You can explain most things by saying "That's Jazz" putting on an accent if needed.

I have two simple noodles I've been messing about with one Punk inspired that should of been last months or one kinda Vietnam war era tune inspired. Or I was going to try play two or more basses at the same time into one amp lol. I thought I could get some small rubber pieces attach them in the appropriate place with multiple elastic bands and a pencil ala capo style to form a chord on each bass, 4 basses in the house so that four chords then all I have to do is strum them in the correct order. But on second thoughts nah.
-
Hold on a second. I think we should have a no holds barred noodle off. There can only be one! In the event of a tie the combatants noodles are subject to no rules other than the time limit. So all effects, loopers, multi tracks etc are allowed for the tie breaker. Lol

I only buy basses that will look good in the future through natural wear but not undue care. Some basses and paint jobs look ruined the moment you get a few marks in them, but some take the wear better and like some antiques actually start to get a nice patina, mojo, relic look going on. Edit to say can't stand dirty, unkept instruments though and dirty fretboards or necks are not cool, although acceptable on maple, light coloured woods. Frets, bridges, strings, electrics should also be kept in good nik.

Celestion G15m. Excellent condition!. Good classic sounding bass driver, but a fantastic guitar speaker and highly regarded in that role. Lovely cast frame. Now sold includes postage, will be well packed.
I think this is great and well done to everyone who has submitted. It's the first time of checking in for the noodle and I'll be sure to come back. If I could figure out how to record myself with this Mac, I'd be tempted to give it a go myself. Anyone with a not too complicated set of directions to do so?
Do you own a smartphone or tablet. You can record from one of those via GarageBand etc easy then upload it to YouTube or soundcloud. Using the inbuilt mic. It's currently what I'm doing despite having an option to record direct with a better setup. There audio interfaces that work with phones too. Or via your Mac via a cheap audio interface plug in direct or buy a decent mic and mic the cab. Easy way again would be to use GarageBand again although there's plenty of other software. I'm sure my mate a few years ago had good results plugging a I rig mic into the Mac and via GarageBand recorded his acoustic.
Which tv do you need for heft?!
Pmsl! Non of these new lightweight compact ones I tell you, you need one of the heavy old valve ones.

I said last night some of the bass on later with Jools Holland were a bit weak.

Future Proof recording interface?

This is why I record on wax cylinder. Hence my quality in the noodle challenges lol. -
Ashdown ABM500 evo iii - distorted background hiss
Twincam replied to Marvin's topic in Repairs and Technical
Forget what it might be and get a refund asap. Because likely it will be impossible to diagnose or fix yourself. However try opening it up and pull the tube out altogether just in case it is that, it will still work without the tube in. Have you only just bought it? I had a abm 500 Evo iii was a good amp tone wise nice rounded sound, maybe a bit dull in the highs for me. -
Strange buzzing from amp at 40Hz and 80Hz (E notes)

You sure it's the amp/cab and not something in the house? -
Booming from rear ports - suggestions? Problem now solved!
Twincam replied to Painy's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have this issue with my home made ported cab has great low end but with some lower voiced amps its boomy at certain angles close by. At a distance sounds great. But still has some issues no matter how you place it. Used with more mid focuses amps no issues. Eq ing sometimes works sometimes not. This will sound extreme but if you can't get rid of the boom by the eq or cab placement and like your amp change speakers or vice versa. In my view that is the only way to actually fix the issue. Unless you want to redesign your cabs ports (unlikely). As Bill said you can also put the lows through monitors etc.
