Rumble 500 sounds better at any volume. I found the Rumble v3 100 that my gf has to be a good amp but a bit boomy and has a lack of volume one of the quitest 100w I've ever heard. The 500 is loud though.
If playing was a calling and not merely a choice you made you will have the motivation. Blue * Everyone here does not know my age. I don't think,
Indeed. I can say with certainty your famous on here and every regular knows your age.
Wish I could take the job, I want to play every night. I do this for a living and while we play about 80 shows a year and I want more. I'm 63. In the only one in the band that doesn't have or want. "Proper " job. "Proper" Hell, I was a a Workers Compensation Claims Administrator for 35 years, not proper in my book. I hated it. Playing bass guitar and singing in a rock & roll band, now that's what I call a proper job. I think when people in bands are in different stages of life sooner or later a major conflict will raise it's head. Blue
I'm sure we all know how old you are. I hope I have that motivation when I'm your age.
-
If you ask me this gives you the perfect opportunity to start afresh. No motivation to do covers then why not start your own thing. Your not that old I bet there are loads of local guys wanting to do something different. Could be really fun even starting at the bottom.

Has it always done that? No matter what strings you put on? If so sometimes helps to go over the nut height, frets and other aspects of the setup in detail. However if it's always happened that's just how the instrument might be. On occasion a shim helps. Even some high end basses can have these variables. A bc member was telling me this high end builder marluex I think it was, has a bass above the door of there workshop it's fully built and looks fine, nothing obviously wrong with it, but they could not get it to sound right at all so they ditched it.
-
Just why, why would you post the bass? Especially of this value. I had a deal from here, I wanted a bass quickly, i was totally without and only had half the cash for a relatively inexpensive bass advertised here, so I gave the other bc member 50% or so of the balance and I received the bass before I fully paid. A week later I paid the rest, in fact I think I was able to pay a few days earlier. So I am all up for trust. However I was known on the forum and had feedback as well as giving half the money up front, I was traceable and of course the other me,her was a good guy too. I'm not being harsh and it's not your fault that the other guy is a scumbag, but it was your fault this person got the easy opportunity. As said I'm all up for human kindness etc so I'm glad you have that in you. In fact I commend you big time. However this wasn't you being a trusting soul or being kind even, it was nievity in this case. He could of phoned or went to the bank it was still open as you had time to post it. I really hope this gets resolved for you and I hope it does not stop you being a good bloke. In future be wise I'm sure you have been on many occasions so I'm bemused by this slip up shall we say. I am not condoning action from you. If that happened to some, they would definitely drive to his and try calmly sort it out. If it doesn't get sorted then don't be down for too long let it go into the either.

Not a retro but I didn't like my east uni 02. Neither did another be member, And that had a passive switch and control but it still was not as passive sounding as a purely passive circuit. I found the pre injected a tiny bit of noise too. Taken it out much better, sold it easily on here and got Kiogon to make me the new passive circuit exactly to my specs. Ten mins putting it in and much better. This is with nordstrand big singles. I think if your a passive guy your a passive guy no matter what pre is in there they just don't sound like your preferred option. And that goes for no passive will sound like a active bass.

Not fun times with parcelfarce and parcel2go
Twincam replied to Twincam's topic in General Discussion
That's funny as when you pick extra compensation online adding musical instrument it says your covered for loss up to £2500 and damage £100. They will also tell you this at the post office. When sending an instrument and asking for the insurance. So are they lying to get the extra money? And not telling other online brokers or post office staff? If that is the case I will stop using them immediately. Has anyone pulled them up on this? Adding I've bought insurance from them before and was told to make a claim instruments must of been sent in a hardcase. Forget where that extra information came from some pop up. Anyhow not happy if I've been deceived. -
Good morning, Apologies if I'm not following the correct procedure, however 'Twincam' as an employee of Parcel2Go I am disappointed to hear that you've had a bad experience. I would really like to help out with this, could you drop me a email at FAO George. I will see what I can do to put this right. Regards, George.
It's ok it was a parcelforce error and there systems went haywire the parcel was delivered on time.
Always be aware with ParceForce, musical instruments are not covered on their insurance.
Yes they are fully covered for loss up to a certain amount think it's £2000 but could be more actually. However damage is only for £100. However pack your parcel right and you should be ok. I've said numerous times I've still never had an issue with parcelforce the delivery times have been as quoted and never a damaged parcel when receiving and sending. And I've sent valve amps and other delicate items up and down the country and to Ireland too. -
Hmmm... :-) I don't normally get involved but.... We get that a lot from long-time fans. But the sad truth is that Stuart passed away and that's pretty finite as far as the original lineup goes. Bruce & Mark are still a huge part of what made Big Country the band it is, with it's very unique sound. As musicians and artists they still need to work and with MASSIVE respect for Stuart, Tony, the fans and the songs, the band continues to sound completely true to the records and at least as good live as it did back in old days. Bruce and Mark are 'on fire' currently and young Jamie (Bruce's son) is nailing Stuarts parts 100%. Everyone who's attended a concert in recent times has accepted the new line up 100%. We're currently rehearsing up for The Seer tour later this year where the band will play the album in its entirety. This is giving fans the chance to hear songs live the original lineup never got to play out. I urge you to try a gig for yourself - you won't be disappointed. PM me for dates etc.... Glad you like the bass btw lol! :-)
I probably should go to a gig. I did go when Mike Peters was fronting them and thought it was great, especially as one or two lyrics had been slightly changed, I guess in reflection of Stuart's passing. Im really pleased the band is still going and from what I've seen/heard the band is doing a great job no problems with the playing as such. It's just it a little bit too different for me now. I guess it's all subjective. As said I should come to a gig with the new lineup and show my support, however just looked and your not coming to the north east??
I had a plastic Watford Valves valve box with all my assorted transistors in it and it's gone. Spare room's been turned upside down (and hoovered...thought I might as well)....nothing I had a brace of BJTs and FETs in there, as well as some germaniums too....acouple of mystery ones salvaged from CFT I was going to make a fuzz out of... I fear the box fell in the bin and got emptied last week.... I feel..........lost.
Oddly yesterday I lost my valves I put them down while working on the amp then they had gone. Turns out they were in the couch. Good thing no one sat down.
-
The only thing that would worry me is if something fails, maybe you could of used your amp to get through the gig. I'm not sure I agree totally with ebs freak about letting the pa do all the work, but I'm not disagreeing. I've heard many bands in small to medium sized venues that have used various amounts of pa. To the guitar and bass sometimes using no pa at all and sounding excellent. I certainly get his point it won't make you sound worse. As said what's for backup if something goes slightly wrong.
I've been through the "smallest possible gigable setup" thing over the last year or so... I found 1x 112 to not quite be enough for me. I went from 2x 112, to a 210 to my current set up of 2x 110s, which is super portable and easily loud enough for my needs. The whole rig weighs 16kg.
What a nice setup. I want!

Shameless plug but my custom Jim Fleeting is for sale and in my opinion is a great bass. Of course if a bass is better than another is always up for debate. It is an excellent instrument and a proper custom hand built bass not a cnc machined part in sight (not including hardware etc), if true hand made is your thing. Not that there is anything wrong with mass made or cnc machined. There's certainly a bit more magic in it though. Im selling it to part fund a Rick 4003 so what do I know, because the 4003 isn't as good an instrument in many ways.
I just voted after having a thorough listen. Really tough to vote this month. 7 votes..... so i'm guessing someone has only voted for one?
Maybe they think only one is worth voting for lol.

Should bands (in name) carry on after large lineup changes?
Twincam replied to Twincam's topic in General Discussion
Precisely. It's a financial entity. It's the Music Business. Many companies change over time, some diversify into other products. If they have customers who have brand loyalty it would be odd to throw away your most valuable asset. .
The thing is this. Companies launch brand new products they are not trying to copy the original models, they evolve naturally. Where a band with only so many original members doing the old songs is trying to be pretty much like the original as that is what people want. So that argument doesn't not apply. You could apply it to fender etc whom are doing original models but are different ownership but even then they are keeping to pretty much the exact formula and trying to keep the tradition and history close to there hearts. The product hasn't changed even though manufacturing techniques are totally different. Again in music this can not apply people have more variables if they sounded pretty much the same it might be better or ok but they don't, they but there own stamp on it changing the original to much that in the end they sound a covers band. -
Should bands (in name) carry on after large lineup changes?
Twincam replied to Twincam's topic in General Discussion
Does the London Symphony Orchestra count in the 'revolving door' category..? Or maybe it's the conductor that carries the renown..? Why should rock bands be different..? Should the Beatles have stopped when Macca died..?
The thing is though orchestras play the exact same thing near enough, notes, timing etc since they were invented. An orchestra is made to play original pieces pretty much exactly as intended. The original composer written the piece for any orchestra to play. The conductor be it someone else or the original composer only has so much say from what is written. Where other music has many more variables. Not saying classic music is boring or doesn't have a difference between conductors or orchestras as it does but it does have less variables despite having more people playing the piece. -
But... but... but... I thought this was for bass only..?
Speaking of which for next month if I plugged two basses into one amp and played them at the same time is that ok or a sneaky way to get around the one track rule?

Should bands (in name) carry on after large lineup changes?
Twincam replied to Twincam's topic in General Discussion
Given that playing live (especially with a name behind you) is pretty much the only avenue left to make money from original music, I expect remaining members of pretty much any band would keep going as long as possible whatever the lineup. But yes it's a fair point... If a band contains no original members, it's pretty much a tribute of the original.
I think it's unfair to suggest it's for the money as I'm sure for many it's the love of music. Or am I nieve there. What if it does have half or less original members though? Adding the sound has changed so much they sound nothing like the original? -
brilliant... got to love an honest opinion.
I see your answer is edited. Originally CamdenRob's reply was full of expletives, rage and anger. So violent that he would of been banned... Then he realised he had been voted for and quickly edited the post. True story

Inspired by a post I wrote in the for sale section. Where I said basically I'm a fan of Big Country and support the band carrying on but when your lineup has changed by at least 50% and you sound nothing like the original, then really you should be thinking of changing your name. I love the fact groups carry on but really your not such and such anymore your a tribute act. And I would say that with massive respect, it's just how I honestly feel. I'm not talking about certain bands/groups that have always had a revolving door from the get go. Or bands who have had to change one member. But the bands that made it and were together for a significant time you would say there is a classic line up, then you look at the new lineup and think "nope". I'm actually in two minds about what I've said because in a way if there's at least one original member and your in the spirit of something you can't get anymore (live) then surely it's a good thing. Then I think well your not such and such and you don't sound anything like the original either so really your kinda trading off the good name of others (not in a bad way).
This is true, he is currently using them with Big Country.
Very cool and Scott is a great player. But as a big country fan I have trouble actually calling them big country. They should rename themselves almost big country. Same with other bands who carry on with 50% or less of its members. And don't even sound like the original lineup. Nice looking shortscale.
I voted - pretty easy really as some of you fellas have got absolutely horrible tone...
Haha! Yeah but in the mix it sounds awesome. Honest.... Anyhow where is your entry?
