1. I've always used parcelforce never an issue. There picking up something today to go to another bc member so Sod's law and me writing this tempting fate will no doubt mean it will all go wrong haha. As Discreet said all the companies have horror stories so who do you use. One day delivery drones will fly basses and amps direct, then we will have to worry about drone pirates, landings oh and bird strikes lol.
2. I've found some cabs don't suit some amps or vice versa and can make some frequencies really boomy. Make sure your pick up heights are correctly adjusted first, then play with the eq then if the boom is still there try it with another cab.
3. We need more entries!....
4.
Now all you need is a large-rimmed hat to go with your new boots & you're all sorted for that Motorhead tribute band!
Haha!
5. My sig says it all lol
6. That didn't last long (two months). I really fancy a rik 4003 despite never playing one, which I know is very dangerous. But I find myself lusting for one. And I know my girlfriend really likes my Jim fleeting bass and would be interested (it's the only long scale bass she has taken too) I would take a part ex, cash and her mij mustang bass, sell the mustang easy enough and I can make the rest of the figures work. Anyone in the north east want to let me have a go of there rik 4003 or 4001? Before I make a huge mistake and find myself whining on here that I've went the wrong way again.
7. There generally well thought of bar the rear pu that is considered weak. Often people mod them.
8.
Here's mine for this month: https://soundcloud.com/tona-fied/noodle-4 Apologies for the 2 second run over. Would have re-recorded and not put that slide in the ending, but had to do it quick this month or i wouldn't have had an entry. Hope i can be given just a warning Warwick streamer recorded straight into garage band. 9% reverb. Latin feel to it. To me anyway. Hope you enjoy
Really liking this one. There's a few sounds, ideas that interest me. Good noodle.
9. No special requirements at all. It's Pre tubes so just gently wiggle the old tube out and put in the new tube making sure it's well seated. Obviously have the power off and unplugged or switched off at the socket. The amp will still contain enough power to electrocute you badly so touch nothing else but the glass tube.
10. I know a guy who could of done it for you and "improved " it at the same time. He may ask about your finger size compared to sausages though. He has lots of ideas on eBay haha And we are not allowed to mention him.
11.
Cant agree with you there, i suppose compared to the waiflike SR series they are but I dont find mine particularily large and this is coming from someone who cant get away with a P neck.
They are definitely bigger than a modern p bass neck. I would say the atk series is known for having chunky necks. Maybe the base 200 model is smaller but the 300 definitely has a fat neck lol.
12. This is my dream bass (in looks) everytime it's came up I've wanted it. Having owned an acg custom I know it would not be for me personally. If you've not owned an ACG before they are great high quality basses, very well built, much better than many custom basses I've came across. And the wood treatment does add a bit of durability. Great price I think too.
13. At a guess it could be a issue with the jacks I'm saying that as you say one is temperamental. And bad jacks can actually cause noise issues. A common one being the fx loop send and return jacks you can actually check it's not these by putting in a spare cable into them one end in the send the other end into return. if the noise stops it's the jacks possibly they just need cleaning. If it's still present plug your bass into the return jack the output will be lower but is the noise still there? Hopefully it's just a jack issue.
14. Can you take a vid of the noise?
15. Doug bought a book from me, fast payment no hassle at all. And left me lovely feedback too. So thank you very much!
16. Going to catch up on a few of these later on. Hoping we get a few more entries.
17. Nice well built basses. Very large necks however. And i recently worked on one, It had some of the hardest fret material other than stainless I've worked with, don't know if there all like that but they certainly seem good quality basses.
18.
I was there towards the end of BW, then came all the angst about who owned the site and the data. Then BC. We all lived at a slower pace back then. I went on holiday for 2 weeks and when I came back there were 15 pages of posts to plough through. We get that in a day now!
There definitely isn't that much activity I find this site fairly sedate.
19. Built one up last year. P bass model. Cheap, nothing special but useable. Can be built very quickly. Only issue was the bridge holes were not drilled straight, thomann sent me another very quickly. Also the frets needed attention. Expect to level, recrown and polish the frets for a really good action. Out the box the frets were not too bad, playable but no good for an action under 3mm if I remember right. Your mileage will vary massively I expect. After the fret level I could set up the bass to a very high standard. The supplied strings are crap!
20. So what was past flavour of the months on bassworld? Headless basses and Trace Elliot's?, heavyweight cabs were the best and class d definitely didn't have heft or was it called Beef back then? Hahaha
21.
Can't believe this is not getting snapped up, this is a bargain, especially with the extras!
I agree. I'm not interested myself but if postage was offered I'm sure it would of went quickly.
22. Wow that looks dated, even for its time.
23.
Thanks for all the help Alex (and others). Ive done all that (and other things suggested). Its not a set up issue at the bass end, as im finding similar results with ym other basses. Ive been using the BB2 regularly since i got it and never at home. Its not just the E string, certain freqs seem louder than others. The open E is quite soft compared ot fretted G, im aware of why that is. Sometimes i know its the room not working well but most cabs suffer from that so i wouldnt blame the cab. I dont have this issue using the studio cabs, nor going through our PA (although its a small PA and i just go through it for a bit of support) I have the pup set up correctly, but its not just the one bass im struggling with. I think the bottom line is that its just not for me. Nothing wrong with it at all.
I too have found this in some amp and cab combinations and it was definitely not a setup issue as I tried adjusting the pu heights, changing strings etc. Seems to me some amp and cabs really can make some frequencies louder or at least seem louder.
24.
I wouldn't cut up the combo cab, but if you were to build a head sleeve for the amp chassis and stash the combo cab away somewhere then it seems like a reasonable plan.
Yes I could do this. Just thought it would look "proper" cutting the combo.
