Welcome Ken,
my Dutch girlfriend went to college in Utrecht, and her dad still lives in Veenendaal, we will be visiting at Christmas. Any good guitar shops in Utrecht that have more than 2 basses?
Assumed by many to be of Scottish origin, Deacon Blue were actually originally the Australian duo, Deek & Blue. Their A & R man, Billy Smithers, (a Steeleye Span fan), misheard the name, and it stuck.
Steely Dan's Donald Fagan took so long considering a name to give his band that when he finally settled on it he was enraged to find that Maddie Prior he pipped him to the post and he had to make a subtle change to it.
Elvis was of Spanish descent. He was christened "El Vis" (meaning, The Fish") owing to his unusual body odour. When aiming for stardom, the Colonel advised him to remove the space in his name, and to have a bath

From the item description:
Pete Townshend tells a similar story on the Ox's Tale DVD, so it could be that bass. Still way overpriced,

I watched a J.E. documentary on YouTube, and that story came up. I'm sure J.E. said something like "it was an expensive one, an Alembic or something"
Would account for the crack though!

Bearing in mind he was 'the hardest working man in show business' for decades, I've never heard of anyone who has actually seen him live.

I have, in Brighton 2002. Don't remember him being on stage that long, and I don't remember seeing that much as it was all standing. The band were great tho'
As noted previously, Puckoon by Milligan is good.
The war "memoirs" by him are excellent as well.
I made a mistake and bought most of the "classics according to Spike Milligan series" and (sorry Spike) they are pretty poor.
Avoid Frankenstein according to Milligan.
The hound of the Baskervilles according to.....
Robin Hood.....
Treasure Island etc etc etc.
20 years ago I had a caravan at Selsey Bill.
We saw Chas n Dave, The Searchers, Vanity Fair and probably many more of the circuit bands or remnants of bands at the time.
Profit margins probably dictate what they will pay nowadays, hence any old stuff labeled as a live band.
Bring on the local tribute band.
