1. Well I think it's a credible and interesting reworking of the Thin Lizzy classic.
2. Thanks. I thought I might get told off if I put it in General.
3. At the end of the second line of the verses. Sounds a bit like a Harmonium. edit, Just listened again and I think I've got it. Rolf Harris on Stylophone?
4. Skeleton and Roundabout. How did they get the synth sounds? Any of us more mature students any idea. Always loved the song when I were a lad, and still do. Must have been made in 1968 and surely (Shirley) pre dates Moogs and the like.
5. Ms Phil is raving about them so I had a listen. Don't do a lot for me, but then again, I'm a miserable old git! All very clever, but I find it boring, but if they can sell records against the latest manufactured popsters, good luck to 'em. At least they can actually play.
6.
Gentle Giant's popularity in Israel took a dive after a typographer erroneously billed them as Gentile Giant...
I bought the album. It was a snip!
7. Before finding his true vocation, the young Pino Palomino tried his hand at acting and was given the lead in "A Man Called Horse".
8.
got the four string, cant put her down, sounds to die for, would love the 5er,perhaps later this year
Exactly the same for me. My only reservation is how well the finish will stand up. Time will tell.
9.
Paul McCartney- bass playing 8 or 9 out of 10 Paul McCartney- annoying twatt. 10 out of 10 My opinion of course
You missed one out: Paul McCartney- awful lot of money. 10 out of 10
10. Watched this on Sky Arts over the weekend. Being a long standing Who fan wasn't sure I'd like it, but most certainly did. Alright, the voices are a little ragged, but they are entitled to be I reckon. What surprised me though was Pino on bass, playing a very low key role, you hardly saw him, he was muted in the mix, and tbh it could have been anyone on bass. He wasn't give any chance to shine at all. There was a bass solo played by John on the screens, which seemed to be shown as a tribute to him along with tributes to Keith, fair enough Pino wouldn't tangle with that, but it's just like Pino wasn't there at all. Brilliant show though.
11. I'm currently playing both. I play fretless for the most, but sometime you just need the frets to get a more percussive beat I find. TBH, I still feel a sense of guilt about fretless, like I'm cheating, but my band love it.
12.
I can see what you're angling at.
Naw, I don't believe it, he's just spinning us a line!
13. Shame, those VM Fretless look really nice to me, for a £300 bass. He's had a go at adding beefy electrics and made the whole thing into firewood. I wouldn't want that at any cost, let alone £250. To me that's more of a Frankenbass than any of the relics Ive seen. I guess he knows he's ruined it, and is trying to get his money back out of it. Good luck.

15. Dave sent me out 2 cables and some sockets to upgrade my cabs from jack to speakon. Perfect speedy service, loads of advice and help, and the cables are better than superb. Thanks Dave.
16. Jeez, brilliant and pleasant service. The cables look like you could run a small town off them. Perfect, thanks for the recommendation and big thanks to Dave for everything.
17. Sound advice chaps. many thanks for the replies. Order placed after many questions from me, and sensible advice from him. Can't wait to receive the goods. I have decided to upgrade the cabs to speakon sockets, which Dave is sending me as well as the cables. Should be wall shakingly good. Thanks again chaps.
18. Please forgive me brothers and sisters for revisiting this topic. I have recently bought an new amp which has speakon speaker outputs. When I ordered the amp I asked if they were combination ones, and was assured they were. Was frustrated when the amp was delivered that I couldn't connect it to my cabs, so popped into the nearest music shop and bought two speakon to jack leads which were cheaper than I was expecting, but there was no choice so I took the pair. First rehearsal with my new amp and couldn't get a peep out of it, I'd only taken one cab and it turned out that one lead was defective so used the other lead and all was well. When back home, I discovered that the speakon sockets had small screws to hold the cable ends in and the wires had pulled out. Took the other speakon socket apart to check where the wires were meant to go (there are 4 terminals) and that one fell apart in my hands as well. I stripped the wire ends back further and doubled the wire inner over to give the screws more meat to grip on and that has done the trick, but it has massively dented my confidence in the admittedly cheap cables and their flimsy terminals. OK, so I've answered my own question (again) but here's another. I quickly searched the topic for previous threads on the issue, and saw various references to speakons being better with high power amps, and jacks not being up to the job, What happens then when you've got speakons on your amp, but jack sockets on your cab/s? I thank you
