Handbox are on FaceBook and Leszek is very quick to respond by FB Messenger

Weight is 35 pounds. Price is roughly £850 inc. postage but I await the dread customs charges letter .... Link to the previous version for stats (had Contour rather than Mid control) http://www.handbox.pl/WB-100-ALL-TUBE-p150.html

The eagle has landed. Super build quality/QC and from my first play it sounds very fat and organic.

Update on UK-bound new WB-100s: having been marked as exported from Poland on 6th August, the Royal Mail tracker has this evening marked them (well mine but I assume its all one shipment) as arrived in UK today. A "mere" 18 days later (leading to some understandable nervousness). Still have to go through tedious wait for customs assessment, HMRC letter and paying charges before delivery. But at least my amp exists and is in the UK.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Clarky replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Yep, properly adjustable without collapsing like the 3 point bridge always did with me! Plus, being fully clamped to the top of the body makes me think (rightly or wrongly) that it has better sustain. Might be confirmation bias but that's my take -

Jason bought some TI flat strings from me. All was good! Cheers 😀

I believe the CIJ models (and now the MIM models) only ever came as stock with white scratchplates. The US made Geddy model had a pearloid plate. None had black as standard but its very common to see Geddy models with an aftermarket black scratchplate. Mine came from eBay and was advertised alongside a Geddy template so it fits very neatly with the existing screwholes.

I bought these for a 2+2 shortie but discovered within an hour they didn't suit the bass (or more correctly, me). So I promptly removed them. I trimmed the E string slightly, but the others are untrimmed. The silks (which can easily fray with TI flats) are virtually as new, as can be seen from photo. Cost me £51, asking £36 posted for essentially as-new strings (bar aforementioned trimming of E). PS, mistyped price in box. £36 inc.postage not £35

2007 CIJ Geddy. Comes with Fender hard case. Vgc (8.5 or 9/10 I would say: a couple of slight surface dimples and tiny/minor edge scratches [from stand, I guess]). I added an after-market black scratchplate but also comes with original white 3 ply s/p. Absolutely wonderful, skinny and super-fast neck and only selling as the weight is just a bit over my comfort zone (4.45kg, 9.8 pounds). £825 collected or £850 delivered in UK. OVNO. I appreciate this is a little higher than the most recent sales but its in great condition, as stated above, and comes with Fender hard case. Edit: * No trades *

Dissenting voice: black looks ready to rock/funk. Gets my vote Pearl is a bit pop or C&W (both of them)

Even if its the room, an HPF would be a good long term investment. While its difficult to get hold of an fdeck (the US manufacturer won't ship overseas), there is an fdeck clone made by Rafferty in the UK which sells for £90 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125014998206

This Trace Elliot ELF never ceases to amaze me!!!!
Clarky replied to Mike Bungo's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thank you! I was told this emphatically by our guitarist who has been gigging for 40 years (mind he uses all valve amps, which may be different?) and I found a TalkBass thread saying the same. Anyhow, good to hear! Thank you 😊 -
This Trace Elliot ELF never ceases to amaze me!!!!
Clarky replied to Mike Bungo's topic in Amps and Cabs
Can the Elf be used as a straight DI box with no speaker attached? I had assumed so but then learned my Ashdown ABM 500 (now sold) would fry if used as a DI without speaker attached due to overloading. An internet search suggests the Elf can safely be used in this way but I thought I'd check the wisdom of the BC massive, especially as I can't see why one rule would apply to one amp but not another -
Also the US dollar has appreciated massively vs £ since 2008. $1600 might have translated to £850 back then but today its worth about £1300.
