  3. Looks like Andy Baxter is now selling the high end range https://www.andybaxterbass.com/collections/bass-guitars/hofner
  4. The chrome Thunderbucker type pickup looks very cool too, much more so than the stock black one.
  5. Intrigued by these. Does anyone have any feedback on the relative tension of the 40-100 set vs the 45-105? I prefer lower tension strings in general (eg TI Flats) but as these are round core - not hex core - maybe the 40-100 set would be too low tension? Edit: I have searched online but can't find any string tension measurements for DR strings. Also these would be for my gloss black Spector bass.
  6. Posted tonight @cetera Separately: Spector users, do flats work with EMG/TP? Specifically TI Jazz Flats ... I know that Spector growl is probably best with rounds but my somewhat knackered left hand is much happier playing flats. If the answer is 'no', then fine. If its 'yes' though, that would be cool
  7. Hi Dave, our front man/singer and band leader (Wily Bo Walker) is taking time out to move house, do other stuff. Our next booked gig is a good'un, main stage on Saturday night at HRH Blues Festival, Sheffield O2 ... but that's in April 😞
  8. Great to hear the WB-100 had all the headroom you needed (and more), Dave. Jealous that you and WoT have had the chance to try yours out in anger. With my band "on hold" until 2023, mine just sits at home in my study being played at neighbour-friendly volumes.
  9. My 2011 Ian Hill has brass inserts into which these fit. Here is the eBay ad for a close up picture (its the 3x6mm version). I am fine about posting, got some spare stamps sitting around and obvs free of charge to you guys. Just PM me postal details and number needed. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324575632790?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=KBMkE1CdRR6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=eqlPJw_SSty&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  10. Just drop me a PM with your name (its Gary, I recall?), postal address and how many you need. Same applies to any other Spector owner on BC
  11. After being pointed in the right direction by Spector, I just tracked down online the little black countersunk Philips screws (3x6mm) for the rear plastic cavity cover. My Ian Hill now has a full set in place. If any of you Spector owners needs some replacement screws I have loads left and am happy to send. Just drop me a PM with your name, postal address and how many you need
  12. In case anyone after one, Andy Baxter has a s/h Wimbish just arrived with maple board https://www.andybaxterbass.com/products/2021-spector-euro-4-lx-doug-wimbish-bahama-blue-limited-edition
  13. Couple more pics of my 2011 Ian Hill (which looks like it sat in its case, untouched, bar the missing control plate screws). Enjoying the slim neck profile
  14. Looks like its @Stealth Based on:
  15. Hi all, I just picked up a really nice first version Ian Hill PJ but its missing 3 of the tiny control cavity screws. Here is the bass and the control plate. Anyone know where I can pick up some spare screws to fully secure the plate?
  16. Hoping a Spector owner can help here? I have just bought an early 2010s Ian Hill signature (the original PJ version, not 50th Anniversary) and it only has 2 of the small flathead black screws holding the plastic control cavity cover in place. I need to get hold of 3 more screws to fully secure it. Can you tell me if there is a model number/specification for these screws so I can track some down on the web? Thx Clarky
  17. I have a one inch head
  18. The seller's postcode in original post (LL12 0BX) indicates he is from Wrexham, Wales. No affiliation, just trying to help! PS, lovely bass and GLWYS!
  19. You could try me with a VERY close offer (I paid more than my asking price from BassBros ...)
  20. Of that, I have no doubt. Jazz funk greats Morrisey Mullen were no slouches and he has also played with UK jazz stalwarts like Alan Barnes. But that's not my point

  22. The Bass Gallery have a 1961 Jazz Bass for sale from the octogenarian (ahem) jazz bass player Jim Richardson. While I am sure he has a wonderful reputation and back catalogue, is that reason enough to pay £9k for a beat-up, over-sprayed (seemingly in bitumen), modded (non-original electronics and fretboard) bass that looks like its been in a fire? Maybe I am being unkind but the pricing seems WAY off to me. https://thebassgallery.com/products/fender-jazz-bass-1961-ex-jim-richardson
