4. Hey Chris, I always seemed to get an annoying sound whatever amp I played through. Couldn't figure it out until someone pointed out it was my playing!
5. If you are going to refinish then get the colour that really appeals to you. Is the bass a good one - i.e. is it worth spending the extra on?
6. Well, if you are travelling in the 'states I would advise you pick something up when you are out there. Likely to work out cheaper. The RH450 head may be expensive, but it's worth it.
7. Just completed a trade with Donny (the Nash I picked up from Clarky and some cash for his Ricky Chris Squire). Super smooth and great guy.
8. Was in the same class at school as Nick Heyward - Forest Hill School. I remeber the band he got into at the time and no-one thought it was....well Punk
9. Ola -
10. Welcome. I played at Smokey's Roadhouse in Maidenhead the other week - great gig and looking forward to playing there again
11. Welcome - I like the for sale section as you know you are not being ripped off!
12. Hi there and welcome
13. Welcome aboard
14. I've played a couple and the necks feel really nice. I would say it essential that you get one with a tight fitting neck (no gap in the neck pocket) as being a three bolt neck join it could be 'knocked' out of alignment. People claimed the three bolt system an inferior design, but my Stingray has this system which has a tightly fitting neck and I've had no issues since I bought her in '79.
15.
I always wanted a P with a J neck, but they always seemed to do versions the other way around.
Try a '72 P Bass. The neck is inbetween the width/feel of the traditional P and a Jazz
16. I usd to play a two 4x12 set up int the late 70's, coupled with a fender bassman 135 head. It was loud enough to hold it's own in a two guitar loud sleazy rock and roll band - just the single 4x12 never cut it.
17. My covers band get wedding gigs, although I don't particularly like playing them the money is good. We got a few from recommendation or someone seeing the band. Howver, the majority of wedding gigs we get are through an agent. Other bands I know that play weddings tend to get these gigs through an agent more often than not. My advice would be to send a demo, CV and photo pack to a number of agents booking gigs in the areas you want to work. The positive side for me is that the agent gets us corporate functions as well that tend to be more fun and even better paid (around £1200 for my band as opposed to around £800 for a wedding).
18. I would seriously look at getting a custom builder put together a jazz bass made from light woods/parts. My '62 P Bass is 8lbs, and I had a '63 P bass that was even lighter. You can get hold of chambered bodies, lightweight tuners/parts etc and I reckon with the right mix you should get a jazz bass around the 7lb mark. http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/J-Bass/ChamberedJbass.aspx Looking through the Warmouth site they even managed to get a J body to come in at 3lb 12oz without any chambering, and this would allow a bass to be built under 7.5lb: http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseIt...ass&i=B1451
