Hiho,Wizard thumper is a good choice but seeing that the Wizard has retired hot rod would be the way to go. If they are the same as the originals then they will be good. Andy at Wizard was making pick ups for bare knuckles at one time but that,s another story.
A few Wizards got sold in the classifieds in the past year, but you never find what you need when you are looking for it... A friend of mine has a Thumper in his P-Bass and it has a great sound. I wonder too if HotRod's are the same?
Crash Magnetic Transducers are on hiatus at the mo I believe, although I have one of their Salt Bass Precision pups in a new build and initial impressions are very good Si
Hi Si, Yes, I have seen that they have taken "some time off" apparently. I really like the concepts they have for their guitar pickups, a shame they do not come up with some wacky bass pup designs. I really liked their video for the Jazz pickups, but not the P-Bass demo unfortunately. The should have gone with the same approach of the J video. I was tempted to go for a Crash pup, but with the hiatus news... bummer. How would you describe the SALT pup then?

Thanks guys, Bareknuckle was another option on my list too.

I Purchased an All-Parts rosewood J-Bass neck from Chris (Beedster). I had placed an advert on the WANTED section and he was kind enough to offer me a lovely neck (that fits incredibly well on my bista Squier body) for a really good price. Great communication, photographs and details from Chris during the process. The neck was packed extremely well and seemed like it was delivered from the manufacturer directly! I will certainly deal with Chris again in the future. Byron.

Hi y'all, Just writing to see if anyone has any suggestions on a good, all-rounder passive P-Bass pup. The instrument is a bitsa bass currently sporting a Squier VM (agathis body) with an All-parts rosewood jazz neck (purchased from Beedster!). I apologise if the topic has been discussed before, but I am looking for a specific product: I would like to see if you has tried any of the UK companies that are manufacturing pup's, as I would like to stay away from Seymour Duncan's, Fender, etc... as I already have basses equipped with such pups and want to try and support something built "locally". I have found several UK based companies such as Mojo Pickups, Crash Magnetic Transducers pickups, Catwhisker Pickups, Creamery pickups... There are also other UK companies that manufacture in Asia, such as Tonerider Pickups (I have a set of 50's single coils in my Strat and they are very nice). I understand that sound and perception is all down to the player and the equipment being used at that moment, but I am looking for general feedback from you. Thanks for your time! Cheers, Byron.

Great gesture! As others have said, good karma going your way mate. -
Wow, that looks amazing! I'm currently talking to Mark for a Limelight P-Bass with a J neck. Lovely relicing on this one too. Mark seems to nail it all the time. Enjoy and let us know how it feels when you finally get it!
I've just ordered a Warwick Rockboards Solo, they essentially look exactly like Pedaltrain Nano, but for a few pound less. I'm assuming exactly same factory etc. Will report back, I also have a Pedaltrain Nano that I can compare it directly to. Si
Just seen them online... they look like re-branded Pedaltrains for a fraction of the price (GOOD). Keep us posted Si, as they could be "the alternative".
Try Feline Guitars in Croydon. They've always done good work for me. http://www.felineguitars.com
My friend takes all her guitars to Feline and they do great work.

Never had work done by him, but Graham Parker is based in SE London and on his website there is some really good work.
Digitech/Juan have just clarified: The output is TRS: Tip = Octave+Sub, Ring = Dry Sleeve = Ground Boom, you'll need a long insert cable to get from the MB to the amp/DI, but it's workable! Si
Good to know! But they could have included an extra jack as the TRS option (like the Radial Bassbone loop) is not my favourite. Anyways, let's see how the new model compares to the original Meatbox. I think Juan will be biased as it seems that he has a good relationship with Digitech/DOD (remember the first Bass Whammy he reviewed). Still nice to know that he has been able to influence a company in re-issuing a pedal. We'll have to see now how this affects 2nd hand Meatboxes prices.

Just saw Juan's post on his website. Shame about the dry out being removed... waiting for the full video-review from Juan.

Really like the concept, specially the option to customize the side panels with a parch panel, power inlet, etc... The US website has more options like the hardcases which are Pelican (nice touch).

ANOTHER ONE???? Really... Is the "Adam Clayton" name a good marketing tool? http://www.notreble....signature-bass/ Warwick meets Fender kind of bass it seems but the price tag is way off.

I took out my COG Custom "Octagrit" and a Tarkin for a spin yesterday at Brighton Electric... I had been ages since I had played the Octagrit through a large cab and Oh My Dog! It sounded huge. I got the octave side sounding pretty much like a synth and I loved it. Also, the Tarkin's mid switch is great as it gave me some foccus and I could cut through the mix easier. Great stuff from Tom as always.

Do you compromise "your sound" for a decent mix with band?
Byo replied to Iheartreverb's topic in Effects
The mix and the whole band context is more important than the individual instruments (sounds). Many times you hear isolated tracks and the bass sounds either distorted, or with a lot of midrange, or very bassy... but when heard within the mix it just sounds amazing and fits perfectly. I come form a Sound Engineering background and I always tailor my sound for the gig I am doing (basses, amps, fx, playing style...) -
Never thought about a black pickguard until I saw this. I think it works instead of the tort for a dark contrast. What do you think?
I think that is a killer combo, specially with the Maple board. The tort pickguard seems to vary depending on the amount of red and normally, red and pink do not go well together. But there is a lovely example of a Shell Pink P with a tort guard on this topic too... Hard to tell without seeing them in the flesh.

Sorry to heat that mate, I know how you feel. I was touring with my former band and was about to sign a record deal, but the lead singer decided on his own that he did not want to agree to the T&C's of the label which lead to the band terminating immediately. Same thing happened with a band I recorded for, they released a LP and got offered some gigs around Europe and US but decided to part ways before anything happened...
