I only used a D112 once and never again. As others have mentioned, the D112 is only good for kick drums as it is heavily pre EQ'd. Using the mic for both kick and bass gives you the same pre-EQ shape of both sources and you will need to work on re-EQ'ing your tracks to make them sit in the mix. I personally use a good DI blended with a large condenser set between 1-3 feet away. This always depends on the tone I'm looking for pf course. A close mic'd SM57 with a dirty valve amp mixed with a clean DI has given me great results. The EV20 is a great mic for bass too. Trial and error is the only way of understanding what you like best. Tastes vary and what you may not like, may be tone-heaven for others and vice-versa.

Just bought a fully loaded Jazz Bass body from Mark this afternoon. He was kind enough to pop by my workplace in central London just before my shift and deliver it in person! He also knocked a tenner of the final price as a gesture for not needing to post. Great guy and I will certainly deal with him in the future.

Just bought an Ashdown Little Bastard from Li. Top guy and amazing communication. The amp arrived perfectly packed and Li was on top of the shipping at all times updating me over PM. I will certainly deal with him in the future. Cheers, Byron.

+1! Any reviews yet?

I use the Z.Vex Sonar as my main tremolo as it has some nice features under the hood too. From choppy to amp-like style. For something less dramatic, I also use the TC Nova Modulator. The Z.Vex is a great piece of kit IMHO.

I bought Ian's MBox Mini (3rd Gen) and the communication was great and clear. It was sent extremely well packed (good job, as the outer box received a nasty hit during transit). Great guy and I will certainly deal with him in the future.

I have had a look at both numberone and Bach's homepages and they look like decent instruments. The EB2 and the Spalted Maple PBass caught my eye and the price is cheaper than Squier. Let us know how it plays if you decide to get one.

Loving the amp, loving the cabs and loving the UMBO(s)! Always wanted to try the Umbo due to the control layout as the people who own one talk wonders about them.

I tried the AGBV200A fixed bridge 4 string the other day while on a trip in New York. The finish was meh... nice feel, but all the heavy dents and marks had been laquered on top and looked fake (they are! Lol). I was expecting these details to have a "manufactured" look and feel but on top of the original finish and not under it, just like any other roadworn style finish. I tried it through an Ampeg V4B and a 4x10 Classic Series cab and the sound was modern compared to the Fender Coronado bass that I tried before the Ibanez. Neck pup sounded good, vintage-y and the tone helped to get a nice finger style out of it. Both pups on sounded very modern, or at least that was my though in the shop and through the Ampeg (which is not my 1st preference when it comes to amplification). Nice finger style in this position, a lot of articulation and with the tone knob you could tame those highs a little to get it back into a more vintage vibe, but the Ibanez retained that modern scooped sound as far as I can remember (the scoop was less pronounced on the Fender Coronado when both pups on). Finally, the bridge pup had some nice bite to it and harmonics sounded lovely. Again, the tone control helped to tame the high end but maintained a nice punch. The neck felt smooth and was nice and fast and as far as I recall, between a J and a P feel but more towards a thinner profile. Not chunky at all. The hardware looks and feels really good. The knobs have a rubber/plastic ring that helps with finger traction compared to the Gibson style speed knobs that sometimes slip during a live setting. Weight was good, around 4kg I guess and way less than the Fender Coronado that was extremely body heavy and not balanced at all. I was expecting a thumpy, old school bass and got hit by a versatile instrument that could possibly fit in most musical enviroments easily. I unfortunately had no time to try the 5 string version and the shop was not stocking the full Hollowbody yet but I will certainly wait until they are stocked here in London.
Nice looking bass but I'm pretty sure people are going to want some reassurance about the quality of the board/defret before thinking about buying. Goods luck with it, looks lovely Chris
I agree with Chris, some further info about the de-fret will come in handy. GLWTS!

Bought a Badass II bridge from Nige and it was an easy and straightforward operation. The bridge was better that he described on the ad as it looks absolutely brand new! Top bloke and will certainly deal with Nige in the future.
nice instrument! - how is the string tension (compared to a regular 34inch bass)? - does this bass have a trustrod?
As far I know it doesn't have a truss rod and all the adjustments are done from the bridge. With that scale, it doesn't really need one IMHO.
