  1. Bass looks amazing! Funny enough I have a very similar blacked out Highway One P-Bass with gold hardware and a MIJ Jaguar neck with amber'ish block inlays. Such a cool colour combo that black and gold with a dark rosewood board 🀘πŸ”₯ GLWTS!!!
  2. Such an amazing looking Mustang you got there @BassAgent 🀘πŸ”₯ Fender were aiming for this colour with their latest Vintera II 70's in Burgundy, but nothing beats a real colour, fading naturally over decades.
  3. The red Mustang... πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ What pups have you got there? Looks like a Thunderbird-style and a really beefy single coil, has a Burns vibe to it that fits so well!
  4. Very interested in this too. The Nordstrand is a great upgrade for the Japanese pup, especially if you want more definition. The JMJ has a custom Mustang pup, wasn't this done by Seymour Duncan? It's a very P-bassy sounding pup, a bit more body than the Mustang. As far as I am aware. @DanDoesBass tell us more! 😊
  5. These are my two Japanese πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Fender Mustangs. After trying many US, MX and Squier Mustangs over the years, I always keep coming back to the Japanese models due to their slimmer necks. The one of the left is a Fiesta Red with an upgraded Nordstrand pickup and rocking a set of Rotosound flats. I am still getting used to these flats, they have a lower tension than the LaBella's on my other Mustang. I do like the Nordstrand pup, seems to open the sound a bit more and has a lovely midrange to it. I can do more chordal work on this bass and it seems to love modulation and time-based effects due to the added clarity. The one on the right is my go-to bass for the past several years. Candy Apple Red with an upgraded @KiOgon loom, as the original one was crapping out on me during sessions, a set of LaBella Mustang strings, and a set of roadworn J-Bass controls (large for vol, and small for tone) which I think look way better ☺️ This one is all low-mids, big round notes, pretty decent sustain too. Loves drives and fuzzes due to having a little less top-end. As far as I understand, Japanese Mustangs have an early 60's neck profile and the rest (US, MX, Squier) have a late 60's/70's neck profile. If anyone knows better, please shed some light. But this is something I have come to experience with Mustangs and agreed upon with other Mustang players in the past.
  6. So it was you! LOL πŸ˜„, I was about to pull the trigger on this and it showed as SOLD. Massive Mustang fan here and short scale basses in general, this Atelier looks killer. You can't beat those competition stripes (go faster!). Enjoy! 🀘
  7. The Beta is an amazing pedal, it does that Ampeg B-15 saturated thing very well and it gives you a slight low end bump, which I always found perfect for fingerstyle. If I am not mistaken, this is the 2nd colour scheme of the 1st version of the Beta. The original run had orange lettering and graphics, and the subsequent run had this dark gray/black finish. I own this 2nd colour scheme. Then SolidGold FX issued the DLX version, with a lot of features and a switchable boost. And then, the 3rd iteration came out, the MKII, where you could defeat the preamp with a top-mounted toggle, which bypassed the gain. Same pedal essentially with the added feature. They also made high-gain, germanium, LM308... versions of the Beta too. The current version you can buy off the shelf is the Beta V. GLWTS! It's a really cool pedal.
  8. Also interested in the Warwick if you decide to split the sale
  9. Hey @krispn, I bought a couple of these LBA 2020s a while back to do something similar, but still haven't had a chance to build a new pedalboard (sadly no gigs atm, only a few remote sessions). How do these x2 LBA 2020s sound, and is it noticeable enough? Cheers!
  10. I'm surprised that Universal Audio haven't dabbled into bass amp territory yet with their UAFX range. I have their Fender and Vox recreations and they are very, very good.
  11. Origin Effects would kill it if they do bring out a B-15 model... I have their SVT and the Blackface models, and they are amazing for tracking in the studio if you can't use the real thing or for sending to FOH in a gig (for Festivals and/or shared stages it's a lifesaver). What other bass amps do you think OG should cover down the road? I wouldn't mind some Hiwatt, Orange... or even something a bit more obscure such as a Traynor.
  12. First Bass Owned: Early 2000's Ibanez SR400NT (still have it!) 'Go To' Bass: 1979 Yamaha BB1200 - Such a buttery sound, lots of punch, infinite sustain... a P-Bass annihilator 'Your' Bass: MIJ Fender Mustang - The thinner neck of the Japanese models, the shorter scale and the punchiness of flatwound strings, it sits perfectly in mixes that don't require a "modern" sound.
  13. +1! Aaaaargh! Indeed
  14. Following this post. I'm big fan of building synth sounds with pedals, also have IMA's HX Stomp synth packs (pretty awesome btw). I also own an EHX Microsynth and a C4 that I have used a lot in the past, alongside other pedals, in order to create landscapes and sounds, plus I own several synths too. So I am familiar with what you can achieve with a bass and pedals. I do like what the MXR Synth does, but I am not fully sold on it yet. I'm hoping for more videos to come out and to hear real world bass players talk about it, not the usual marketing videos that are currently flooding YouTube since its release this week. IMA's video is really good, he's a great educator when it comes to pedals and creating sounds. The tracking seemes like a great selling point, plus the preset option and no need to connect to a laptop to edit or enter submenus. And the size... perfect for a small board or as a one-stop shop on a bigger board if you need a few synth-like sounds at he gig. Looking forward to everyone's experiences with the pedal!
  15. Very interesting to read everyone's thoughts on these strings. I play mainly flats at the moment, with TI'S on my P-Bass and LaBella and Chromes on my Mustangs, so I guess my expectations for these have always been to feel like a flat that sounds like warm roundwound. I did speak to Ian during the Bass Hang the other week, and he did say that they are still "rounds" so the feel of a flat is not what you're going to get, but it's a smoother round with more longevity and a consistent sound when broken in.
  16. OLP MM5 owner here. These punch above their weight, I agree with @petecarlton in that they are on par, if not better, than the Sterling SUB series (which are already pretty decent). GLWTS!
  17. Down the road from where I work.... Must resist, must resist πŸ™ˆ
  18. You are describing the journey of every person that has used a Meatbox, me included πŸ™ˆ The first time I plugged mine into my amp, I was so underwhelmed. I managed to get one of the OG models from back in the day, and it just didn't do anything for me... that's until I took it to a rehearsal and plugged it directly to the PA via a separate DI. BOOM, literally... Haha. That's when I understood where this shines. Amazing for pop, hip-hop, etc... gigs where you need to either step in for a synth or share low-end duties with a synth/keys player. I have never managed to get a good sound of it through my amp, I prefer to use an octave pedal or even some EQ if I need more support in the low end. It is one of the most misunderstood pedals out there, especially the 1st version, where each knob has weird names πŸ˜…
  19. Ditto, same here. @Berserker amazing work!!! Gotta love those Tbird pups on a J. I've always wanted to do a similar build but with a Mustang body.
  20. @maidens97 Martin just replied to an email I sent the other day. Although he closed shop in 2023, he still does a small amount of non urgent repair on selected amps/pedals. Definitely drop him a line, he is a really nice guy to deal with.
  21. The Way Huge Swollen Pickle, which is essentially a moded Muff circuit, has low end and creaminess for days... I have used it a lot with octave pedals to create synth-like tones. Still want to get my hands on the Kasleder stuff, the Albatross sounds amazing... and I am now intrigued by the Freaky Stone!
  22. What are you trying to achieve with the Meatbox? Only asking, as there might be something else that might do the trick for you instead.
  23. Martin Owen, from Owen Electronics, was my guy... he repaired a few pedals for me back in 2017-2018. After a quick search, looks like his website no longer exists... His business email was: [email protected] Not very helpful, but I will follow this thread as I will also need pedals looked at down the line and without Martin, I am not sure who to go to either.
