1. With pricing like that I would think twice about dealing with them at all
2. I guess it depends on what you are looking for, everytime I have posted in the wanted section I have received replies but then I haven't been looking for something especially unusual
3.
Well, we have a large (ish) gig on 12 March (about 500 if they sell out) and it's come to the point where our band has swapped places with our support band so we don't have too late a night Where's me slippers
A very wise move, one I would certainly advocate to our band as often as possible
4. Others refer to me as "that bloke what plays bass" personally I prefer bass god
5.
Or try a Tech 21 VT bass pedal mate. I'd highly recommend them. https://www.youtube....h?v=_be9GSlt_eQ
I would agree, the tech 21 gives a more Ampeg sound than my SVT Pro7 which just sounds like a generic class D amp, not that there's anything wrong with the Pro 7 it just doesn't sound very Ampeg to me
6. As long as it isn't a really complex rewire or new fretboard then if you're in Northampton I am happy to help
7. The best advice I was ever given was....practice, practice, practice, and when you know the song well enough to play it correctly, practice it again until you can't get it wrong
8.
These days even entry level Laptops will do fine as long as you are using an external audio interface and not running loads of background apps. My Toshiba Satellite is 5 years old and was at the lower end of the market when purchased, however, Its handled Cubase for years with no noticeable latency. One thing that may influence your decision is the amount of live audio that you want to record concurrently. If you want to record, say, 5 live audio tracks at once then you may need a more powerful machine. If, like me, you are going to use it as a tool to record one live audio track at a time then i wouldn't worry too much about the spec. As a rough guide anything over £400 should be fine.
Totally agree, we have been using Cubase on a 5 year old Asus laptop running Windows 7 to a Tascam 244 for all of our recordings, they have been good enough to get national airplay, if you get the best possible signal in then even an older budget laptop can deliver excellent results
9.
As above ,1200 grit paper will do it without ruining the neck.
I use this approach, there is science behind this, something like the lacquer on your neck is so smooth you get a build up of moisture between your hand and the neck, by roughing the neck up very slightly that moisture is dissipated into the tiny scratches you have created and hence the "stickiness is gone, you can always polish the neck back up in the future should you wish to make it sticky again
10. Amazingly fast across the fretboard, when she discovers the "less is more" approach I imagine she will be phenomenal, although it is not my style of music at all, I love this style of bass playing, I just wish I could play like that!
11. Looking at the above would OCD be justified?
12. I took up playing guitar / bass whilst my mates were out nicking cars, they have criminal records, I don't....justified! I also have a spare room and no children so as long as it fits in the room again it is justified. Finally to justify 26 guitars, various amps, many effects, most of a full PA system, a huge recording rack...and some synths to my good lady wife, one day I am going to have to open a music shop which will pay for our retirement...possibly!
13. I don't get it! So you brought a 60's Strat and found that underneath was an ultra rare Paisley finish but you thought...."now I can see that fine finish underneath a dodgy refinish, I won't bother getting the nasty refinish removed" not sure of the logic behind the guitar
14. I bet they are fakes, from memory you can tell by the written ring, the wording should be indented on the genuine article....but don't quote me on that....I don't think the image he has put up is good enough to tell
15. I think it's a great idea, as long as more experienced players are happy to contribute, we all started somewhere, knowing sweet fa about what we were doing, a forum where beginners feel they can ask what, to many of us, may seem like "dumb" questions is a really good idea and somewhere where even more experienced players may learn a thing or two
16. You need to have some "bar fodder" in the set, irrespective of how good your set list is people will need to, get their breath, go to the bar, traipse outside for a smoke, go to the loo...fight each other etc at some point, give um a couple of slow numbers along the way and build up to a killer finish
17.
What have I started lol !
Ahh, so you want to confess then sonny, oil up the thumb screws
18. That is a real beauty, if only I could get on with Musicman basses....GLWTS
19.
I think he's just having a laugh.
I think he has extremely effective PR working for him
20. That looks really nice, good job sir
21. I don't get it..........The idea is to adjust the sound from onstage? Surely unless you have a sound engineer with the desk out front then you can manually adjust the sound from onstage with one of them slider thingies....and unless you have a sound engineer to advise you then surely you cannot hope to adjust the out front sound from onstage with any degree of certainty? Luddite, me
22. Definitely better than the offerings of "he who must not be named"
23. Horrible, why would you do that to a perfectly nice bass?
24. Terribly sad news, RIP guys
25. Yodaclub used to use it a lot but, as I understand it, Soundcloud stopped people from sharing something with a private group sometime back so it was a case of public or nothing...we didn't want to put all of our rehearsal ideas in public so we moved to dropbox instead.....I haven't used it since
