I'm pretty sure Sterling has half a clue as to what he's doing..................... not done too bad so far, has he?
what he said, the electronics package looks absolutely mental! plus i kinda like the bass itself anyway EDIT: urgh, i wish i had a bass to put one of those orange swirl pickguards on!! (check first link in original post)
2. how come you're selling dude?
3. looking good that previous body was rather fooked eh??!!
4. here's me playing the crappy "session pro" college bass
5.
The only way you know what you want is from experience. The only way you get experience is to play! Also, buy with your ears and not with your eyes. If it sounds good it is good
I'd say looks are as important as sound and feel. I'd never look at a bass that i think is f*** ugly and think "hmm, i might buy that", would you? I'd be unhappy with a bass i don't like the look of. There's something out there for everyone.
6. £500 is a good price point, especially if you're thinking of buying used, i've had some really great basses off ebay and this forum (musicman SUB bass, fender reggie hamilton jazz bass, G&L tribute l-2000, warwick corvette $$), none of which i paid more than £430 for, and most of which i paid a fair bit less than that! And they really were great basses, so don't limit yourself to new basses. Even new, you have a good choice, there's a lot more available now than there ever has been and you can get a lot more bang for your buck, and £500 can get you a very nice new bass. I won't name any brand names because now would probably be a bad time to become biased to certain brands, all i'll say it, try everything in your price range, and i mean everything. Don't just try the classic fender p's and j's, even if you don't intend to buy something, at least try it. And certainly don't buy the first thing you see! Just buy whatever looks, feels and sounds good to you. Even if it is a squier! They're making some nice basses these days!! Above all, have fun and good luck! Nothing like buying new bass
7. I want to get some black strings for my corvette $$, basically. Just to make it look totally stealth. Anybody know of any good ones? I need to tune it down to drop C too, so they need to be fairly chunky cheers
8.
It's a stain with a satin finish...looks and feels lovely...the grain is raised a bit too.
nice, my corvette is finished like that, it feels lovely!
9. There always seems to be someone selling them on ebay making a massive fuss over them, and i've never figured out how they're any different from any other tuners that seem to have the same base plate. I'll see if i can find a link. EDIT: there are actually none on ebay, that has to be a first... seriously!
10. i've got half an easter egg left, will you take that? It's all i have!
11. aye some parts look satin but some parts dont, nirvana black satin stains are the shiz though, no?
12.
Yeah man .
noooo man, they don't look like they would fit to me. Buy some schaller BMFL ones like the bass doc said! Good quality and they will fit. Also maybe consider a new bridge? That one looks pretty manked up and something like a badass II will give you loads better sustain which given that you're turning yours fretless, will help quite a lot as fretless' tend to not sustain as well, your fingers not being as dense as metal frets
13.
The question becomes irrelevant if you don't do it in the first place. There's always lighter fluid - it will soften up any sticky residue. That's if you don't lift the finish when you peel the sticker off. Like so.
I think i just died a little inside...
14. squier basses are good for upgrade projects, new pickups and/or preamp should make a huge difference, i'd reccommend it Maybe a new bridge too?
15. nice, that looks gorgeous! Is it a high gloss finish or a stain?
16. mm, that's really pretty! I really want an alembic just so i can paint it gloss black like a certain mr newsted!
17.
I don't see the big deal when 99% of the time the bass is so low in the mix anyway ..........
I agree, a lot of the time, when it's in the mix, you really can't tell the difference anyway.
18. i want a to give a proper precision a go one day, but if you have some fairly versatile basses (statii... fairly versatile right?), then there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get fairly close.
19.
Yeah £100 used, mainly because it once belonged to me
fair enough!
20. check out his feedback:
dont mind them being copies but they are bad

all you have to do is ask for a replacement and my dvd is no copy i made it
What a twonk!
21. Don't get a combo, that will be heavier than any head/cab, trust me on that. If i were you i'd get some lightweight cabs and a head, like markbass or something
22. oh lordy...
23. If you want to buy new, i'd wait a few months, rockbass have some new lines coming out this year, the standard rockbass corvette has been given a 2 piece warwick bridge (well, all of them have) and the warwick W at the headstock, fancier woods and there's even a $$ model coming out.
