1.
Its one of the Splat Hybrid bass prototypes. Gorgeous IMO, but the rest of you feel free to keep talking it down, that way I'll have less competition... However the sellers estimate of it's worth is somewhat inflated. From what I recall it sold originally for around the starting price and last time I was in contact with Michael Spalt a new one to my spec would have cost about $3000.
I was just thinking to myself "looks like something BigRedX might want", seems i was right! I doesn't look too bad IMO but it would look better if the wood on the body matched.
2. make your mind up simon! I've played this and it's a gorgeous bass!
3. You're more indecisive than me! Some nice looking basses there though, nice to see the recession isn't affecting everybody
4.
Bongos do seem to be superb instruments, if they managed to get the tone in a slightly more conventional body then I'm sure it'd have more adopters!
I tried a bongo and a $$, i picked the $$ for the price tag, but i'm glad i did it because it's SO much better. If it had a mids knob it would totally kill the bongo (IMHO 4 band is a bit overkill). For me it plays/feels better, sounds more aggressive and is loads more versatile, corvette $$ all the way!
5. Nice collection man! Those rockbasses and olps are really great basses for the money, and i'm actually interested in the idea of one of those new neck thru thunderbirds Also, is that ashdown an after eight or prefect ten? I have a perfect ten, and i really rate it! It's got a great sound for a little combo that i paid next to nothing for!
6. haha that's awesome, we're such geeks
7. nice nice nice The musicman and the jazz are gorgeous
8. like warwickhunt says, try and find a used high end ibanez soundgear. There was a neck thru ibby SR900 doing the rounds here for £300 i think it was, i really wish it was closer so i could have had a go but it looked gorgeous, and a bargain too. If anybody fancies selling that again give me a heads up!
9. 5 string generally means smaller string spacing and easier to move around on a lot of the time, plus, the artcores have HUGE bodies. My corvette feels tiny in comparison to my musicman. You should buy it, or at least try some others out
10. i was playing my SUB last night, and realised that it really does sound nice for funk... maybe not metal, but a funk machine quite relieved, i thought i was going off it!
11. £220? Christ, how has this not sold yet? Good luck selling mate, looks nice
12. I've been wanting one of those sledgehammers for a while too, they look pretty damn cool. I've wondered about those peaveys too, if dave ellefson plays them then they must be fairly decent right?
13. Is that a black DT-10? that's pretty cool
14.
i cant find anyone else. bassists are easy to find coz basses are easy to play!
That's a bit defeatist. You're the one that wants to be in a band, if you can't be arsed to try and find some more band members then who's fault is that?
15. Don't give up matey, you can always find new musicians that want to do your thing with you, it's difficult but it's worth it.
16. nice nice nice looks like it would be good as a rehearsal room too
17.
I just mute at my pedal tuner, jack out, bass swap, jack in, job done.
+1
18. that's rather pretty
19.
I wonder what all those knobs do? EDIT: I've worked it out. Some of them run the country.
Volume, blend, 4 band EQ, active/passive switch, pickup selectors and series/parallel. Pretty cool.
20. jay from bullet for my valentine uses musicman basses. Although after having bought my corvette $$ i'm kind of seeing what you mean...
21. Cheers for the advice guys The q-tron sounds like it could be a solid choice or the mxr higgie mentioned. And of course i'll probably buy used, they don't call me budget bassist for nothing
22. what a f***ing joke
23. i'd say £300 or so maybe, similar to the MIJ basses
24.
That Euro is fantastic. There's something about a red stain on highly figured maple..
+1, the figuring on that is gorgeous
25. Oh i've made floyds with locking nuts go out of tune before
