Forgive me for maybe being a bit dense, but what's the point in putting one driver behind the other? and are there no controls on the actual amp?

If you want the grain to stand out, i hear some people use a black stain under the main colour to bring it out more.

fair enough I see your point there actually In that case (and i'm by no means picking holes in your design!!), for me, i'd have had the pickups slightly more central maybe, for the way i like to play, i get fairly lazy with my right hand
