1. I keep mine around my waist most of the time, it's fairly comfortable there. I've tried wearing it high before like some of you guys do, and it REALLY hurts my right wrist, i don't know how you guys do it...
2. Hmm yeah i do see your point, though i think 1000W is a bit excessive, i used 180W on stage with no problems at all, i can't see how you could use 1000W of power without being a pro on a HUGE stage. Plus i'd be scared of blowing my speakers!
3. Well, each to their own, i was just saying that the hydrive didn't really jump out at me, but like you say, it might for someone else. Valve preamp doesn't really mean much to me either, considering you can get some brilliant sounding solid state amps these days.
4. You got any spare friends lying around?
5. Whoever bought it could have left it a few more days so lysdexia could post more photos
6. well, a compressor would be nice, and more than just a 3 band EQ, a 7 band graphic would be nice. That hartke just doesn't appeal to me that much...
7. I've always loved onboard preamps, nothing too complicated, and you can't use things like coil tap and series/parallel switches on an outboard preamp (though do you need to have a preamp in your bass to do it?) they're relatively inexpensive anyway, and if you get an active/passive switch installed, it's just added versatility, and you could always get an outboard preamp too to compliment it. Personally, i've found a 2 band onboard pre (3 band would be nicer) and the 5 band amp EQ enough (though i would like a 7 band graphic) to be just about enough, though obviously it's about what you feel comfortable with.
8. You reckon? I'm not sure i'll even bother with a sansamp, i'm not really into dirty overdriven sounds, just muds up the mix i think. Unless there's more to it than that? I'm still wondering what some of the other cheap amps like the warwick ProFet 5.1 sounds like... I've got a few weeks to mull it over anyway
9.
Something like a built in compressor would be far more useful!
Yep! I think some of their amps actually come with them now...
10. I was actually watching that... hoping it would go for peanuts!
11. I don't think he has a footswitch, although it seemed to work ok for me... EDIT: yes he does have the footswitch
12. that's awesome!
13. it doesn't seem amazingly versatile, and compared to some other stuff in the price range (aside from the masses of power), it doesn't really impress me, whereas i could get a GK 700RBII for £400 from soundslive and that would be able to do so much more. Convince me
14. Bring whatever you want There will most likely be other amps there, but you can if you want!
15. Nice one! It reassuring, considering i'm only running ashdown rigs right now! (aside from my gu*tar rig)
16.
why dont you try a abm evo11 head.pick one up on flea bay and have change left over towards some cabs.very close soundwise to an ampeg imo.
I'm not too fond of them, if only for the strangely laid out EQ, and i'm not sure i want to go ashdown again. I would like something rack mountable too.
17. Hi, i'm selling this for a friend, so i don't know much about it, but i've used it a few times and it did sound decent and is in very good condition because not long after it was bought, my friend decided to go to the dark side and sell all his basses. It's just been sitting in his bedroom ever since and has been used only a couple of times in the last couple of years, never been used live. here are the specs: # Bass Combo # 220w Output # Channels: 2 - Clean and Distortion # Effects: Distortion and Octaver # Inputs: 1/4" with -15dB Pad switch # Aux Input: Dual RCA CD inputs # Output: XLR Balanced line out # RMS Wattage: 220w RMS # Speakers: 15" Crate Bass Driver # Weight: 87 lbs # Dimensions: 24.5" x 24.5" x 16.5" Oh, and it has a built in chromatic tuner, how cool is that? It also comes with a footswitch Here's a photo: He's looking for £150 for it, but feel free to haggle. pickup only from nottingham, FAR too heavy to post!
18. Hi guys, basically i'm putting up a feeler to guage interest and see what you think of the price. I'm looking for a new head, and i'd rather not sell this one until i have sold my tobias so that i have a good amount of cash with which to buy another head, so i'm not without one for too long. Hopefully it may only be a few weeks as i may have a potential buyer, but we'll see what happens. Anyway, i'm going to be selling my ashdown EB180 head. These heads are discontinued, so therefore this one is a good few years old, though i'm not sure how old exactly. I've used it for about ten gigs myself and i understand the previous owner usd it for a lot too, so it can stand up for itself live, that's for sure. It is in good condition though and works perfectly, and i don't think it sounds too muddy, like some people think ashdowns do. Full specs are here I'm asking about £100(ish) though that's not firm, so shoot me some offers. I'm not too sure how much they were new, i think a little bit less than the MAG 300, and some people reckon these sound better. I'd be willing to post, though i'm not sure how much it might be, £10-£20? Pickup would be good though. Ask if you need more photos, though as i say, it's in pretty much perfect condition and looks exactly as it does on the ashdown site.
19. So without having tried anything out, i was looking at some other stuff online, and i noticed this line six amp, it looks good and the idea is there, but does anybody know how it sounds? Also, this warwick profet 5.1, seems cheap, i'm sure they were more than that before, how do they sound? Cheers guys
20. We all know that the guys that make fun of bongos WISH they could afford a toilet seat that fancy.
21. Glad to see it actually becoming a real bass, this must be really cool for you!
22. Yeah, i do love the EQ and "deep" and "bright" switches on mine, really handy. If only it had a "mute" (though i have a tuner pedal for that), a compressor and sounded good, i'd be chuffed!
23. That's what my ashdown electric blue does, and what it did on my old behringer amp. Possibly the most useless feature i've ever come accross on an amp.
24. I don't see much point in tweeters either, 10" speakers do the job fine, unless you like playing lots of harmonics or play a six string or something. But even then, plenty of guitarists make do with 412 cabs without tweeters... So yeah, pretty much useless. The tweeter in my old ampeg combo was sh*te. It would just hiss all the time, really really irritating. I'd heard of people stuffing socks in them or just disconnecting them totally, but i couldn't figure out how to get to it. Got rid of that amp anyway.
